Is it worth it to do the remote IIM Lucknow's summer internship?
Remote Summer internship from IIM Lucknow is something that actually excites and amazes you, but if you’re planning to pursue it just because of the IIM tag on it, then you need to wait and read the reviews and suggestions provided by students.
A friend of mine has successfully completed it and suggested not to go for it due to some specific reasons. First of all, it is not useful as there are about 70-80 students doing the same remote internship. No personal attention is given to students actually in need.
In the internship program, you have to buy recommended books and a suggested Udemy course as well. Buying a book is enough though it contains all the information and study material you actually need as the same book is used in management courses.
Furthermore, the only good thing about this internship is the online classes and guidance provided by Prof. Sameer Mathur who is one of the best and experienced professors. You can take advantage of his experience and learn new things with simple examples and scenarios. But you need to complete all your assignments and work on your own as the assignments are given on a regular basis including sundays as well. If you really want to complete this internship program then forget about holidays. After successfully completing the internship you’ll get a certificate which will get delivered on your postal address.
The internship program is open to all and anyone can join the program without any prior skill test which somehow decreases the credibility of this internship program. That’s why it is suggested that if your purpose is to learn only and not the certificate then you can simply buy the recommended books and gain knowledge on your own without spending the extra money on suggested online courses.
Is COE at Thapar University really good? Are there opportunities for internships?
COE is one of the best branches of Thapar University offering a plethora of job opportunities and exposure to students. Sparing a few professors, the department is blessed with some of the best faculty members.
The internship scenario specifically is great for this branch and one of my friends at Thapar University told me that 5 of his batchmates received internship offers from Microsoft IT. Other companies offering internship offers included Expedia, Snapdeal, Royal Bank of Scotland, ARM, etc. The students received stipends in the range of 20-40k per month. Most of these companies offer PPOs to their students.
Additionally, the research internships are great. One of my friends had the opportunity to intern at IIT Roorkee after his 2nd year. Many others got selected at IIT Delhi, IIT Bombay, Kanpur, Guwahati, Ropar, Gandhinagar, Mandi, etc. The reputation of Thapar University is such that it plays a very positive role in the selection of students.
Overall, the brand value of Thapar University makes it possible for big companies to offer lucrative packages and roles.
What is the experience like at the summer research internship at IIT Gandhinagar?
Studying here my classmates and I have experienced a lot of things, during our summer internship. Four months of research for a particular project at IIT Gandhinagar under Professor Chakraborty were indeed the best days of our life. Don't feel hopeless comparing it with other IITs. This institute, like the rest, includes everything you would require for your course. If you're concerned about the labs, they are photonically sensored proving how advanced they are. Some students were granted 24*7 access. It is advised not to fiddle with any instruments there as, at the end of the day, you're at an IIT.
Nothing matches our experience over here as it was the most excellent time of our life. Also, putting more efforts into everything will show better results. You would have to do the research yourself as your work would be closely observed. In case you'd require guidance somewhere, you'll always have help. If you're there as an intern, you'd not be handed over a big problem. Instead, what comes your way would be a tiny part of the problem.
Considering my personal experience, I had to examine an idea allotted to me. Succeeding this I was allotted and gained access to the lab.
We managed to attend a good number of presentations and workshops as, by the time an active semester was on. These workshops and presentations concerned mechanical engineering, chemistry, control theory and sustainable energy. This was the technical and the scientific part of it.
On the other hand, discussions about Indian card and board games, Indian history of science, short films, etc. were held. The students here are intellectuals and your conversations with them would be unique. You won't feel as if your time has gone in vain, instead you will learn a lot of things.
Therefore, do grab the opportunity you get to be at IIT Gandhinagar. Don't buy anything that tells you about new IITs, instead, experience it yourself and gather some memories. This institute focuses solely on research. Spending time here is definitely worth it.

The internship offers provided to the students of NIT Trichy depend on the branch they belong to. Companies offering internship opportunities visit the campus right from the beginning of the third year.
- Most management and marketing companies allow students of all branches to sit for placements.
- IT giants like Amazon, Microsoft, and Uber usually prefer CSE students.
- Companies like Nvidia, and Qualcomm prefer students from EEE, ICE, and CSE.

As a general trend, it is observed that CSE students receive internship offers more easily in comparison to students of other branches. Off-campus internships are also available but the pay scale offered might be less.

NIT Trichy students start preparing for their internships in the first year itself. Recently, the institute has also bagged some international internship offers. The institute plays a big role in assisting the students and they even provide airfare for the students attending final interviews outside India. CARGILL, MITAC, and DAAD are some of the fellowships in which students are achieving great success over the past few years. Students attending these fellowship programs became brand ambassadors and encouraged their juniors.

As a 3rd year CSE student of BIT, Mesra, what should one do to land a good internship program?
My brother closely followed the internship recruitments at BIT Mesra and here are his insights about the recruitment criteria of some of the major IT firms-
- Directi - To intern at Directi, you must be good in all the areas of CSE. You must be an excellent algorithm programmer with a good knowledge of technical concepts and a project to support the same. Very few candidates are able to clear the first onsite coding round during the placement process and 1-2 get selected for the internship program.
- Microsoft - Microsoft recruits students who are excellent at C, MS products and GeeksforGeeks. The multiple rounds during recruitment consist of- objective questions round, coding round, telephonic rounds, paper-pen coding round and interview. You must be good at C, must prepare well for Data Structures interview questions, and must have a good knowledge of technical topics. A good CGPA of 8-8.5+ definitely gives you an edge above the other students.
- Goldman Sachs - The first round consists of questions on numerical aptitude and technical understanding. Your understanding of C++ oops concepts/C++ output questions/Data structures/Complexity/OS/DBMS is tested. This round is followed by a GD round. Make sure to listen carefully to all the instructions provided during mock GD. The 3rd and 4th rounds are technical and HR rounds respectively. Mention only those areas as your strengths in your resume that you are actually good at and confident about. The questions for this round include- Math puzzles, OOPS concept in (C++/Java), Data structures /SQL queries/Open ended questions/C++ concepts[Constructor/destructor/Virtual functions]/ Java Concepts.
- Besides these, students also go for off campus internships at IIT BOMBAY, PlayEzio and other startups.
Thus, to grab an on campus/off campus internship during your 3rd year CSE from BIT Mesra, you need to work very hard and sharpen your technical knowledge and coding skills.
What is it like to do an internship at ISB Hyderabad?

The Spark program at IIT Roorkee is meant for those non-IITians whose college lacks the necessary research culture thereby providing minimal research opportunities. Under this, you get a stipend of Rs 2500 per week for the entire duration of the program.
The primary step before writing a research statement is to know what the program offers and its goals. This program proves the necessary research environment to carry out experiments in labs. To write a research statement
- Go through the problem you will be working on. While attending classes you have to be conscious of any loophole and then base your research on that particular problem. If you aren’t able to find any, just analyze where your interest lies.
