What is the mess food menu in IIM Ahmedabad? Can you get non-vegetarian food in the mess?
Members of the Mess and Vendor Relations Committee decide the mess menu at IIM Ahmedabad. The Mess Secretary ultimately notifies the IIMA community about the menu.
The mess caterers give a list of items from which the final menu is drawn. The list contains dishes from the Indian cuisine, with a larger number of Gujarati items. It also contains non vegetarian options.
Apart from the mess, the campus also has other food outlets with good food options. You can visit these outlets too.
How are the hostel rooms at IIT Kharagpur?
Out of 20 hostels, the size of rooms in every hostel is different. The best rooms are available in
Vidyasagar Hall of Residence for UG students. This hall provides single-room occupancy. In fact, many other halls like Meghnad Shah Hall of Residence and Patel hall of Residence to provide single-room occupancies, it’s the superior quality of the environment at Vidyasagar Hall that steals the show.
Other multiple occupancy halls that are pretty good include the LBS Hall of Residence. This hall is usually allocated to first-year UG students.
The worst hostels in terms of facilities are Patel, Azad, and Nehru. The rooms of these hostels were initially made for 2 students each but now they have become triple room occupancy.
PG students are allotted the MMM, BR Ambedkar, and VS Hall of residence. The BR Ambedkar Hall of residence has the best facilities and rooms among all the three halls of residence.
Facilities inside a room include two sockets, one LAN port, a steel bed, a wooden chair, and a wooden table. Every hostel corridor has an excellent wifi connection also.
How are the hostels in IIT BHU?
Freshers are allotted these three hostels(the first two are for boys and the last one is for girls): Vishweshvarayya Hostel, S N Bose Hostel, and Gandhi Smriti Mahila Chhatravas.
My brother lived in IIT-BHU Hostel and got to experience all the good and bad of hostel life at IIT-BHU. According to him:
ROOMS
- The rooms are very small and are shared by 2 to 3 people
- On first entering, you will not like the rooms at all. The rooms are covered in spider webs everywhere and some of the old used belongings from the previous occupants
- You will need to clean your room and get all the required items
- A bed, table, and chair are provided by the hostel administration
- Cupboards are in-built and you have to share them with your roommate
- The rooms have hardly any space, but the lawns are big and the hostel corridors are long
- There’s a sufficient number of washrooms on each floor. Each floor has water coolers.
OTHER FACILITIES: Common rooms, Canteens, Mess, TV Room, Badminton court, TT tables, and lawns. There’s also high-speed internet which can be connected through both, Wi-Fi and LAN
FOOD AND HOSTEL CANTEENS- The food is above average, better than other colleges and most of the other IITs.
Hostel canteens close between 2:30 A.M to 4:00 A.M. Students can still obtain food from within the campus at any time
HOSTEL TIMINGS- Apart from the first few months, there are no in-and-out hostel timings for boys. However, for girls, there is a strict time restriction, 10 PM.
HOSTEL STAFF AND ADMINISTRATION- The hostel staff and administration are friendly and supportive. You can also ask your Maharaja to make a dish that you wish to eat.
You will certainly face some challenges as you try to adjust to your new life. Living in and sharing small rooms with strangers will be difficult at first. You will have to learn to manage with very basic facilities, but as you make more and more friends at your hostel, you will come to enjoy every day that you spend there.
Also, some of these experiences are subjective, while others can also be different for a different academic batch. My brother completed his graduation in 2018.
How are Thapar hostels for 1st year students?
The hostel for the 1st year students is the most loved hostel in Thapar University because of numerous reasons.
- The hostel is huge and every room in the building is spacious.
- It has grounds huge enough to play cricket, football, or even kho-kho.
- The mess workers are better than every other hostel and they provide good food, although not as good as the J hostel.
- It has stable and high-speed Wi-Fi connectivity.
Since this will be the first hostel in your college life you will always have a special place for it in your heart. The facilities provided by the hostel are good.
How are the hostel rooms at mnnit?
MNNIT hostel rooms are in good condition. Three students share a room. Each hostel room has a bedroom, a study room, and a balcony. Students are provided with beds, chairs, study tables, cupboards, and study lamps. The hostel has wifi facilities.
The washrooms are common. Every floor has washrooms, at each corner. There are aqua guards and geysers on each floor as well. The hostels have common rooms. There are computer rooms with internet connection as well.
Do medical students get single rooms in AIIMS Jodhpur?
Yes, AIIMS Jodhpur provides single rooms to MBBS students.
However, during the initial 6 semesters, you get a room that is attached to another room that is separated by curtains. But after the 6th semester, you are transferred to the PG hostel. Here, you are provided with a whole room to yourself along with an attached toilet bathroom. There are additional facilities like a bed, table, chair, fan, and LAN ports.
How is the hostel and mess food at NIT Raipur?
The hostel facilities of NIT Raipur are good. The hostel rooms are two-seater and 3-seater. Hostels - A, B, D, and F for first-year students. Hostel E and G are for first-year girls. A and B are specious. D and F are a little congested in comparison. The institute provides all the basic facilities.
Mess food is decent. Mostly north-Indian food is provided. Everyone gets used to the mess food after a while.
How are NIT Trichy hostels?
The NIT Trichy campus is covered in greenery and located away from the main city. Because of this, the campus weather is comparatively pleasant. The common mode of transportation for students within the campus are bicycles. No powered vehicles, including motorcycles are allowed for students.
Boys are strictly prohibited from entering the girls’ hostels. Fresher boys are allotted double and triple sharing rooms in one of the four hostels (Garnet A,B,C- double sharing rooms, Agate- triple sharing rooms). Garnet C does not have a proper water filter, so try avoiding that hostel.
The campus is ragging free, and senior boys are not allowed inside fresher hostels. All the fresher hostels are decent. The hostellers of NITT have access to free wifi. The second year hostels are the same as fresher hostels, but they have lifts. There are three hostels for 2nd year boys.
The hostel facility is thus, quite decent at NIT Trichy.
What are the hostel rules for AIIMS, Delhi? Are they strict?
AIIMS Delhi does have its own rules and regulations policy but adherence to these is rarely seen within the campus. A few hostel rules included are
- You are prohibited from installing your own AC, but almost every room has an AC.
- You are not allowed to make any modifications in the room but most students renovate their rooms as per their needs.
- The rules prohibit students from inviting other students to their rooms without permission but even students of opposite gender can be seen together in the same room.
- As per the hostel rules, AIIMS students are not allowed to bring electrical appliances but most students have installed their own refrigerators, microwaves, and toasters.
- The hostel prohibits students from staying with their families at home but some residents of Delhi go back to their homes daily.
All in all, AIIMS Delhi hostel rules are just for formality, and rarely does the administration implement them.
How's hostel life at NMIMS Mumbai?
If you are planning to stay at the MKM Sanghavi hostel, here are some things you need to keep in mind:
- Food: The mess facility available charges Rs75 per thali, which can be expensive if you don't have someone to share it with. The mess is open from 7:30 am to 10 pm, but the breakfast is often served late. If you come back to the hostel after 10 pm, you will need to order food from outside.
- Washing: The washing machine area on the first floor has only a few machines that work. With a hostel of 100 girls, it can be difficult to wash your clothes, especially on Sundays. Additionally, if you have erratic timings, it may be challenging to do your laundry.
- Water: Although there is a machine on every floor, most girls prefer to order their own Bisleri water as rumors say that there have been worms in the pumped water. Also, hot water is available for a limited time period and often takes a long time to fill up.
- Fridge: There is a fridge on every floor where you can keep your milk tetra packs with your name on them. However, some floors may not have a fridge, and you will need to ask the authorities to install one.
- Curfew: The curfew is at 11 pm, but you can still enter the hostel after that time. However, you cannot leave the hostel after 11 pm. During exams and placements, people may stay in the library or other areas until late, and the hostel will allow them to enter.
- Rooms: The rooms are spacious and big, with most of them being three-sharing and a few being twin-sharing. All beds are single beds with box beds, and you get a study table and a cupboard. Lighting in the rooms is inadequate, and you may need to use table lamps.
- Bathrooms: The bathrooms are well-maintained, with separate areas for bathing, toilets, and wash basins. However, the lighting is not sufficient, and the plug points may not work.
- Open drain: The hostel has a large open water drain behind it that leads to a lot of mosquitoes in the hostel. The common area on each floor overlooks the drain, and if you have a room with a balcony, it may open to the drain.
