My brother is studying IT at IIIT Allahabad. So, I know about the placement at the institute. 

Over the year the average CTC offered at the institute is INR 12 -14 LPA. However, this way of measurement is not an indicator of the quality of placements available on campus. The median salary is a better marker of the type of packages received by students. At IIIT A the median salary has been around INR 10-12 LPA.

Infrastructure:

• MNNIT Allahabad: Infrastructure is inversely proportional to legacy and thus it has average facilities such as libraries, crammed hostel rooms, canteen, non-functional swimming pools, etc.
• IIIT Allahabad: It boasts of state-of-the-art modern infrastructure being a newer institute.

Placements:

• MNNIT Allahabad: For the year 2019, 95.56% of the total 90 eligible students in the IT branch were placed with an average and highest salary of INR 12.97 LPA and INR 36 LPA respectively.
• IIIT Allahabad: They do not provide branch-specific statistics, but according to overall statistics, more than 96% of eligible students got placed with an average and highest CTC of INR 20.83 LPA and INR 43 LPA respectively for the year 2019-20.

Coding Culture:

• MNNIT Allahabad: It is good in this institute and one of the important criteria for any programmer to choose an institute. They have churned out pretty good coders in the past.
• IIIT Allahabad: They are doing great in this aspect recently. This is due to the timely updates their syllabus gets which is in sync with industry demands. Also, coding is introduced right from the first year, unlike other engineering colleges.

Mess:

• MNNIT Allahabad: They serve only vegetarian food which is really difficult for non-vegetarians.
• IIIT Allahabad: They serve both types of foods. So, no need to worry.

At MNNIT Allahabad the seniors are quite helpful. They conduct coding classes or doubt clearing classes for juniors during the weekend.

In the end, both the colleges will give you many things, some good and some not so good. But the most important thing is how you utilize them properly. 

If you think that you can work under technical giants later in years of study, then you should go for VIT. However, if you want to pursue your field of interest, and choose a likewise job scenario, then undoubtedly, you should enroll in IIIT Guwahati. 

There are various differences between both the institutes for B.Tech ECE. Let’s walk through most of them:

• VIT has a gigantic campus and is considered top-notch by students. You will most definitely enjoy your four years course period in VIT.

• VIT, other than that, has balanced boys: girls ratio.

VIT is a reputed institute that is known to get you a job in the placement. If you’re willing to enter the job sector soon, join VIT.

CGC Landran is one of the most reputed colleges in north India. The college has been awarded by many organizations. The college is renowned because of its pretty good placement stats. The table given below contains the recent placement stats of CGC Landran. 

Talking particularly about the IT Branch, CGC Landran brings more than 200 companies for IT and CSE students. So, there is a huge opportunity for the students to grab placement offers and it completely depends on their performance of the placement procedure. The teachers of CGC Landran help the students a lot to get them prepared for the final placements. There are special pre-placement programs that help the students to brush up their skills and become placement-ready. 

Students need to make sure, to sit in the placement, they must have 75+ attendance, good academics and they fulfill the companies criteria. Lately, the placement percentage of IT branches at CGC Landran was only 30%. This happened because of the ignorance of the students due to which many of them were on the debarred list and many of them were not interested in the placements. There are no such specific prerequisites. You can develop an interest in coding within one year if you are interested.

The programming courses in the first year entail the comprehensive usage of C. It definitely is an extensive course and will take up time. You will learn the basics of it in the first year. The course includes parts like Functions, Pointers, Linked Lists, Data Structures, Object-Oriented Programming, etc.

Although, having knowledge of Python helps. If, however, you've arrived with no knowledge at all of what that is, then it is fine too. Classroom teaching does not help that much for learning to code. Mostly, you will need to learn the aspects of this language with your own efforts.

If you have any spare time, learning basic front-end web development will assist in the long run as well, like HTML, CSS, JQuery, and Javascript (If possible). This will help explore a variety of other opportunities outside your curriculum.

MNNIT Allahabad offers similar opportunities for IT and CSE branches. Other than a few subjects, the curriculum, faculty, and career opportunities are more or less the same for NIT Allahabad. 

Though Surathkal is promising a better university life with beaches and all. 

NIT Allahabad houses one of the country's biggest and brightest CSE departments. Here you're getting a good, competitive, and coding-oriented environment. Seniors are very supportive and the course is good. But the location is quite remote so if you belong to a metro city, you will be disappointed with the city life. 

In terms of placements, both institutes are almost on the same level. 

Another important aspect you can factor in while choosing is the distance of the institute from your home and choose the nearlest. 

One of my acquaintances who has graduated from VNIT has asked me to choose my institute by keeping the following points in mind.

• VNIT for metallurgy would be a suitable choice for you if you don’t have a particular liking. Apart from that, the metallurgy of VNIT holds an enviable position in India. The syllabus for metallurgy is vast and involves a lot of memorization.
• If you want CS and unfortunately end up not getting it, the next logical step would be to choose IT. The syllabus of IT and CS are almost the same. In the big picture, it will have little importance if you complete your B.Tech from VNIT or NIT Raipur. You will have a degree and you will not regret the decision you made.

IT has a lot of scopes. Later down the road, if you want to continue with your higher studies, you will be capable of switching to almost any department pertaining to computers. IT from NIT Raipur is an excellent choice.

The scope in the metallurgy sector is limited nowadays. It is obviously your call, though. There is vast scope in IT like research, job, etc.
