What are the chances of converting IIFT DELHI through waitlist if I opt out from IIFT KOLKATA with a percentile of 99.3%?

Only a small part of the total score, which is made up of the GD, PI, WAT, and entrance test, comes from the percentile. The total score is derived as follows:

  • Entrance exam: 55%
  • GD: 10%
  • WAT: 10%
  • PI: 23%
  • Gender diversity: 2%

Even though the most important part is the entrance test, it's hard to say that with a certain percentile, you're sure to get into IIFT Delhi.

Which college is the best for an MBA in Delhi in terms of infrastructure faculty crowd and placements: Delhi School of Economics, IIFT, or FMS?

AV
Akanksha Vishwakarma Posted On : January 9th, 2023

In terms of faculty, crowd, and placements, IIFT Delhi and FMS are comparable and better than the Delhi School of Economics.

IIFT is located above FMS in the campus hostel in terms of infrastructure. In terms of ROI, FMS is far ahead of IIFT because the course fee is significantly lower with nearly identical placement prospects.

During FMS Delhi placements 2022, the highest package offered was INR 58 LPA. Prior to 2020 and 2021, the highest packages offered during FMS Delhi placements were INR 58.6 LPA and INR 58.8 LPA, respectively. In 2022, the average package offered by IIFT during MBA (IB) placements was INR 25.16 LPA. The average package at the Delhi School of Economics is INR 13.94 LPA, the highest package is INR 32 LPA, and the median package is INR 12.50 LPA for MBA, as per 2022 placement reports.

IIFT is one of the best institutes for foreign trade management and it comes under the top 10 B-school of India. While IIM Indore is a top B school and comes under the old IIMs category.

The table shows a brief overview of the institutions.

Particulars

IIFT Delhi

IIM Indore

Median Salary

Rs. 18.20 Lakh

Rs. 22.92 Lakh

Entrance Criteria

IIFT

CAT/GMAT

Fees

Rs. 7.6 Lakh

Rs. 7.76 Lakh

Comparison:

  • Both IIFT and IIM Indore offer similar average CTC, i.e. 17-18 LPA.
  • IIM Indore has a huge batch size. This results in tough competition both during summer internships and placements.
  • The decision also depends on your interest and choice of specializations. IIM will offer you Management studies i.e. Marketing, Finance, HR, etc. Whereas, IIFT is good for fashion design.

These two fields are completely different and equally tough to get into. So, go for the field you are interested in. If you are hardworking and think you can get into IIM, go for it. Both of these institutes are reputed but IIM Indore has a better brand value since it is an old IIM.

What is the reason for the difference in placement opportunities between the IIFT Kolkata and Delhi campuses?

IS

Location, industry connections, and alumni network affect IIFT Kolkata and Delhi placement possibilities.

  • Location: Many of the region's top enterprises and organizations are near IIFT Delhi's campus in the city centre. This helps students network with possible jobs. However, IIFT Kolkata's remote location may make it harder for students to get jobs and network.
  • Industry connections: IIFT Delhi has been founded longer than the Kolkata campus and has had more time to form links with important firms and organizations. This suggests that Delhi's industrial links may improve student placement.
  • Alumni network: Current students can benefit from IIFT Delhi's wider alumni network. This network helps graduates find internships and jobs. Kolkata's alumni network may not be as large or well-established as Delhi's.

Placement prospects depend on each campus's programs and courses and students' success. However, the foregoing characteristics can influence student placement at each site.
