How's Hindustan University, Chennai?
I am a student of B.Tech CSE at Hindustan University, pursuing a specialization in IBM cloud computing and virtualization.
The CSE department is quite good. All its professors are friendly and supportive. The university focuses a lot on extracurriculars, even more than the academics. A number of workshops and events are regularly organized on campus.
If you abide by the rules and regulations, you won’t face any trouble from the authorities. You will be offered a nurturing environment and ample growth opportunities.
Hindustan University is a good choice for a CSE, given that you participate in events and make use of all the opportunities.
How is life at DTU?
Life at DTU is magical and surreal. It’s a rare experience and once you leave the college it will dawn on you how precious your time spent here was. The students live a carefree life here and pursue their passion alongside academics. DTU has given birth to many artists, musicians, singers, orators, dancers, writers, programmers, and athletes. Those who claim DTU students are bookworms have it wrong, as all kinds of talents are cultivated here.
To break the periodical monotony of campus life, frequent fests are held that are enough to increase the spirit tenfold. Engifest is one of the most awaited events in Delhi. The night events are vibrant and the students have the best days of their life during this fest. Another great event is the Literary Fest wherein you will be meeting well-reputed people in poetry, writing, and whatnot.
DTU even organized the Tomatina Fest in the form of a Color Run. You can explore the campus and find many eateries serving delicious food. The main canteen serves the tastiest samosas you have ever eaten while the Mic-mac canteen serves non-veg and Paranthas.
As for the academic life, it’s not very rigorous like other colleges. You can survive by doing self-study during exams. You will also enjoy the happening nightlife here.
Is IIM Shillong a tier 1 B-school?
IIM Shillong was established in 2007 as the 7th Indian Institute of Management, located in the North-East region of India. The programs offered at this institute include postgraduate diplomas, executive diplomas, and doctoral programs. The admission process at IIM Shillong is similar to other IIMs, with applicants being evaluated based on their scores on exams such as the CAT, GMAT, GATE, and GRE. Candidates for doctoral programs are also shortlisted based on their performance in the Junior Research Fellowship (JRF).
Tier 1 MBA colleges in India are among the highest-ranked management institutes in the country, and many of their students secure positions at top companies. These colleges are highly competitive and have a strong brand value, which can be beneficial for students as they begin their careers. Although IIM Shillong is considered a tier 1 b-school, it does not rank among the top 10 in India. The top 10 tier 1 MBA colleges in India typically include IIM Ahmedabad, IIM Bangalore, IIM Calcutta, IIM Lucknow, FMS Delhi, XLRI, IIM Kozhikode, SP Jain, Jamnalal Bajaj, and IIM Indore. Some people may also consider the Indian School of Business (ISB) to be a top tier 1 MBA college due to its one-year program.
How's the placement at IIM Lucknow??
This year in 2024, IIM Lucknow placements took quite alot of time to complete but the institute was able to record a 100% placement. The batch of 576 secured a total of 634 offers from the 250 participating recruiters.
The highest international package recorded was INR 1.23 LPA and the highest domestic package was INR 65 LPA. The average package stood at INR 30 LPA and the median package was at IRN 27 LPA.
The students were offered roles in in Consulting, Finance, General Management, IT and Analytics, Sales and Marketing, Operations, and Retail E-Commerce from top recruiters across the globe.
Some of the top recruiters who participated in the IIM Lucknow placement drive included ABG, Accenture, Adani Group, BCG, Deloitte, Jio Financial Services, McKinsey, Microsoft, Procter & Gamble, PwC, Samagra, Shell, VISA, Target, and TAS.
What if I don't have enough money to pay IIM Ahmedabad's fees?
If you have got admission at IIM Ahmedabad, paying fees will not be an issue. There are many ways to finance your degree.
If you are eligible, you will get a fee waiver. There are many corporate scholarships on offer as well. If you have an impeccable academic record, you can easily bag one of these scholarships.
Many banks offer education loans for IIM students without collateral security. IIM Ahmedabad has tie-ups with many banks that are willing to offer you loans to pay the fees and also a minimum amount to pay your basic living expenses on campus.
What is your review of Hindustan University?
Overall, Hindustan University is average at best.
- The quality of education offered is not good. Most faculty members are fresh graduates and don’t have much experience.
- The institute doesn’t have a good infrastructure. Although the institute claims to offer a good Aeronautical or Aerospace program, they don’t have good facilities or faculties to back up the claim. Besides a subsonic wind tunnel and four broken-down plans, the department offers zero facilities.
- Hindusthan University fees are pretty steep. The B.Tech Aeronautical Engineering program costs around INR 14.39 Lakhs.
- The institute doesn’t offer any internships or co-op opportunities to students. The placement opportunities offered aren’t worth the high course fee.
The college lacks basic amenities that are essential for the overall growth of the students.
How is ITM, Navi Mumbai?
ITM Navi Mumbai, Institute for Technology And Management Navi Mumbai campus is a decent institute well-known for its strong focus on Marketing. The college is Grade ‘A’ accredited by NAAC. Here are a few highlights pertaining to the institute
- Location: ITM Mumbai is located in close proximity to the railway station and enjoys good connectivity with everything from malls to Central Park.
- Infrastructure: ITM Mumbai has great infrastructure and accommodation facilities. The campus has all basic amenities from wifi to LAN ports.
- Fees: ITM Mumbai PGDM fees are ? 5,20,000/Yr.
- Placements: ITM Navi Mumbai placements 2022 invited 350+ recruiters the top ones being TNS, Amazon, Shoppers Stop, Kotak Mahindra Bank, LG, JP Morgan, and many more. The institute recorded 100% placements with the highest package standing at INR 21 LPA and the average package recorded at INR 8.5 LPA.
- Faculty: The faculty pool is highly qualified and learned with enough experience in their own expertise. Weekends bring in visiting faculty that add to the academic environment.
- Industry exposure: Frequent seminars conducted by companies like Siemens ensure maximum industry exposure to the students.
- Campus Life: ITM Mumbai has a very happening campus life and you will find students always busy with some or the other activities. There are yoga sessions twice a week in the morning, a course on lifestyle management, and very strict attendance. Frizon is held in November.
In all, ITM Mumbai is a great place to be if you have no other good options.
What is your review of AIIMS RISHIKESH?
AIIMS Rishikesh located in Uttarakhand is one of the AIIMS in India that is dedicated to providing standardized academics for students. The Institute offers various UG, PG, Fellowship, Doctoral, Diploma and Other Certificate courses. AIIMS Rishikesh has top-notch infrastructure with modern equipment in Labs.
Academics: AIIMS Rishikesh is the only institute that follows a 100% MCQ exam pattern. This exam pattern helps students to prepare for their entrance exams. The academic curriculum at AIIMS Rishikesh is standard as all the AIIMS.
Faculty: AIIMS Rishikesh has 250+ faculty who are very distinguished in their respective fields.
Campus: AIIMS Rishikesh is spread across 100 acres on the river banks of Ganges. The environment and weather conditions are beautiful and offer a serene environment for students. AIIMS Rishikesh is located 20 km away from the Airpot, 8km from the Railway Station and 7km away Bus Station.
Placements: AIIMS Rishikesh also offers placement opportunities for students with decent packages. Students are also provided with internship opportunities with a stipend of INR 23,500 per month. As per the AIIMS Rishikesh NIRF 2023 Report, the median package of MBBS Batch 2022 stood at INR 12.2 LPA and for PG courses such as MD / MS / MDS stood at INR 21.6 LPA.
Hostel: The hostel rooms are provided with double sharing for 1st year students. Single rooms are available for 2nd year students. AIIMS Rishikesh hostels are well-furnished, lockers, tables and chairs are also offered.
Mess: The mess at AIIMS Rishikesh is run by students themselves. The food is quite tasty and satisfying. Food from various parts of the country is prepared to cater to everybody’s taste.
Student Welfare: AIIMS Rishikesh has a dedicated student body to ensure there is no injustice made to students. The institute also follows an anti-ragging policy on campus and outside the campus premises as well.
Culture: AIIMS Rishikesh has students coming from all over the country. Hence, the campus seems very diversified. The institute aims to provide a balanced life on campus. Students are encouraged to actively participate in co-curricular activities as well along with academics.
AIIMS Rishikesh organizes “Pyrexia” which is the biggest inter-college fest in all of Uttarakhand. Students can participate in all the events and showcase their talents.
In conclusion, AIIMS Rishikesh is no doubt one of the best destinations for medical students.
What is the reality of placements at IIM Lucknow?
IIM Lucknow is one of the top management colleges in India. It has a strong reputation for its management courses. It has a dedicated placement cell to ensure good career opportunities for its students. Its average and median packages are at par with those of other reputed B schools in India.
Graduates of IIM Lucknow are placed in well paying jobs across diverse sectors. Accenture, Amazon, Deloitte, EY, Goldman Sachs, Hindustan Unilever Limited (HUL), JP Morgan Chase & Co., McKinsey & Company, PwC and The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) are some of the reputed brands that recruit students from this college.

Why is getting into IIT Bombay tougher than getting into Harvard?
The nature of the admission procedure and its level of difficulty at IIT and Harvard are too vast.
IIT Bombay: To get admission here one needs to clear and score well in JEE Advance. It’s important to note that you don’t necessarily have to score well in JEE Mains; all you need to do is qualify for Advance.
Harvard University: Getting admission at Harvard requires an extremely high GPA around 3.9/4 along with a very high SAT score. Moreover, your extracurricular background should speak volumes of your talent.
Depending on your background and skills you might find getting admission at IIT Bombay harder than at Harvard. I think the below 2 points are the main reasons people have this general opinion.
- One can get admission to Harvard by donating a substantial amount to the University. But this is possible only if you are above average. On the other hand, being a government institution, IIT admits students on the basis of merits only.
- The acceptance rate of IIT is much lower than that of Harvard. However, this is not a logical parameter since India has a bigger population so the candidates are also more in number. Another reason why IIT has a higher acceptance rate is because of the ease of application. One just needs to prepare for the JEE Exam to become a candidate. In the case of Harvard, a lot of formalities are required like writing statement of purpose, obtain letters of recommendation and even paying a hefty application fee. For this reason, only most students prefer IIT over Harvard and thereby increasing the rate of admission.
So one college might be easier for you but difficult for others and vice versa. It all depends on individual capabilities.
