Why should I take IIITD over NSIT and DTU?

VG
Vishal Gupta Posted On : August 14th, 2020
Electronics and Communication Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (2020)

Comparison of IIIT Delhi over DTU and NSIT should be based on some criteria:

  • Placement:

According to IIITD, in 2019 B.Tech CSE placed 98.96% of students and B.Tech ECE placed 94.59% of students. The average salary of the last batch is Rs. 15 lakhs. In the case of NSIT, they record around 90% of placement every year. The average salary of the last B.Tech batch is around 8 lakhs per year. DTU also gives around 11.17 lakhs per annum with 70-80% student’s placement per year.

  • Infrastructure:

Established in 2008, IIITD has a cutting edge infrastructure with high tech equipment. In NSIT, you might still find 2nd gen. computers.  The institute has no A.C facility in labs, classrooms. And in DTU, the operative condition of instruments is also weak, even not fully connected to Wi-Fi.

  • Facilities:

In the case of academic blocks and hostel facilities, IIITD has an auditorium and a total of 25 lecture halls of varying sizes. At present, there is one hostel for boys and one for girls. NSIT has 2 girl’s hostels and 2 boy’s hostels. Hostel life is wonderful in DTU. Hostel infrastructure is good along with badminton and TT court inside. There are 5 hostels for boys and 3 for girls.

  • Library:

In IIITD, the Library has a large collection of print and electronic media. With this, the institute has fully connected through the internet connection. The condition of the library of NSIT and DTU is also good, but the condition of books and print media is less compared to IIITD.

  • Fee structure:

IIITD is nearly Rs. 3,60,000 per year for B.Tech in 2019 -20, for M.Tech (CSE/ECE) 2019 it is nearly Rs.1,85,000 which is high as compare to NSIT where for B.Tech nearly  Rs. 1,66,000 per year (2019-20), and for M.Tech it is Rs. 1,86,000. Whereas DTU charges Rs. 1,95,000 for B.Tech and for M.Tech it is Rs. 1,66,000.

The IIITD got rank through NIRF 55th   in India. Whereas the NSIT ranked 11 among Engineering colleges by Outlook and 22 by the week in 2019. The DTU has got rank 36 for engineering by NIRF 2020.

Which college is best for ECE, Heritage Kolkata or LNCT Bhopal?

KK
Keshav Kumar Posted On : September 28th, 2021
Studied BE from Lakshmi Narain College of Technology,Bhopal (2020)

In Kolkata, Heritage has a splendid reputation and is considered one of the best colleges. On the other hand, LNCT Bhopal is a top-notch private institute in Madhya Pradesh. It ranks 66th among the best colleges in India and has successfully secured the 3rd rank in the state.

LNCT is decent for ECE with qualified and experienced faculty and cooperative seniors. They have an active branch for organizing seminars, training, and other activities as well as supervising HODs. A 95% placement record is maintained every year. Esteemed companies such as Wipro, TCS, Cognizant, Infosys, etc. visit the campus for recruitment purposes.

Although it is not an easy decision to come to terms with, you should evaluate the pros and cons of your choice before deciding on anything. If admission to a private engineering institute is what you desire then evaluate your expenses with other private institutes if it is on a high end.

Which is better: NPTI or ECE at Heritage Institute of technology in terms of placement?

SG
Sauvik Guha Posted On : September 3rd, 2021
National Power Training Institute (2020)

I have a few friends from the National Power Training Institute (NPTI). Based on the conversations I had with them, I can give you some insight regarding the institute.

  • NPTI is started by the Power Ministry of Government of India and a student from there can get jobs at thermal power plants or related sectors such as distribution, boiler manufacturing, etc.
  • However, in recent years, the government has started pushing renewable energy aggressively and newer thermal power plants are not coming up at the same pace as they used to a few years back. This narrows down your scope of placement after studies.

So choose the course you want to do keeping your interests in mind along with the future scope of the industry in consideration.

Which is better, IIT Hyderabad CSE or IIT Bhubaneswar CSE?

SS
Sameer Singhal Posted On : August 14th, 2020
B.Tech in Chemical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (2019)

At IIT Hyderabad, the department of CSE got an average CTC of 26.6 LPA in 2019 campus placement, while the highest CTC offered was 47 LPA. Companies like Adobe, Amazon, Microsoft, and Airtel hired CSE students. IIT Hyderabad being among the top 10 IITs in India, excels in placements and the students receive good packages in top MNCs.

On the other hand, IIT Bhubaneswar has 100% placements for the CSE department in 2019 campus placement. A total of 89 companies visited the campus namely Capgemini, Dell, Honeywell, Microsoft, Accenture, etc. The students of the CSE department received a handsome package of 10-35 LPA.

Hyderabad is better than other new IITs and the placements and other facilities at IIT Hyderabad is much better than IIT Bhubaneswar, so CSE at IIT Hyderabad would be the better choice.

How is IT in Manipal university? Is it better than SRM?

ST
Siddharth Thapar Posted On : April 1st, 2023
Studied at Manipal Institute of Technology (2019)

If you're considering pursuing IT, Manipal, Jaipur could be a good option for you as the faculty is supportive and helpful, and the syllabus is somewhat similar to Computer Science with some changes in the 3rd and final year. While the speaker has no personal experience with SRM, Chennai, it's worth noting that branches like CS/IT are rarely dependent on the faculty or college.

In IT, at some point in your course, you will have to learn languages on your own and accordingly code using those languages. So, it's crucial to have a good understanding of the basics and develop problem-solving skills. Keep in mind that the field of IT is continually evolving, and it's essential to keep yourself updated with the latest technologies and trends.

Which institution is better for CS: Thapar University, LNMIIT, or Nirma University?

SG
Shubhika Goswami Posted On : July 16th, 2021
Studied at Delhi University (2019)

One of my friends studied at LNMIIT, so I might be able to provide you some information about it.

CS at Thapar is combined with other courses, some of which are worthy while others are not. You have to choose the course which you are interested in. Depending on that you can opt for the college, be it Thapar or LNMIIT.

The infrastructure and facilities at LNMIIT are really good. Faculty members are enthusiastic about both academics and extracurriculars. They will guide you through every step. LNMIIT has a great coding culture. Also, you will have cooperative seniors.

Categories LNMIIT Thapar Nirma
Course Fee 12.36 lakhs 13.23 lakhs 7.24 lakhs
Highest CTC 22 LPA 8-10 LPA 12-16 LPA
Average CTC 11 LPA 6 LPA 7-9 LPA
Recruiting Companies TCS, CTS, Accenture, Capgemini, etc. ZS Associates, Byju’s, TCS, ITC, etc. Bosch, Havells, Honeywell, JP Morgan, etc.

I am not well aware of Thapar, I can only say that the campus and course curriculum is more or less similar to LNMIIT, unlike Nirma which can be a bit different. So finally I will suggest you go for LNMIIT. Make Thapar your second choice as the quality of the branch varies. Lastly opt for Nirma if both do not work out.

Which one will be better, MNNIT Allahabad or IIIT Allahabad for an M.Tech in CSE?

SV
Suhaas Verma Posted On : July 16th, 2021
Teaching Assistant at Indian Institute of Information Technology, Allahabad

Both IIIT Allahabad and MNNIT Allahabad are excellent institutes, providing sufficient placements in the circuital branches of engineering. But, IIIT Allahabad has slight advantages over the other, considering certain parameters in branches, which are discussed below in the following points.

  • MNNIT Allahabad and IIIT Allahabad are two incomparable institutes, having decent placement records each. Both the institutes have an excellent self-study culture among students for their own betterment.
  • IIIT is totally devoted to IT and Electronics branches only, it has a slight advantage in placement and opportunities over the other.
  • IIIT Allahabad is a much newer institute, being established in the year 2000. Even, many faculties of IIIT Allahabad are pass-out students of MNNIT Allahabad.
  • Both IIIT and MNNIT have an excellent placement record for M.Tech branches.
  • The coding culture of IIIT Allahabad is famous all over India, which is the second-best in the country after IIIT Hyderabad. If you are interested in coding and open-source development should definitely choose IIIT Allahabad over MNNIT. Students who have an interest in other fields can choose MNNIT.
  • Students who are in doubt about their coding capabilities can visit some notable websites for practice and tests in competitive coding. If the student is good at it, he/she should surely come to IIIT Allahabad and can even expect a package of about 20 LPA after the degree.

For M.Tech in CSE or IT, IIIT Allahabad is a better choice, provided the coding culture and placements in those branches at IIIT.

KN
Kanika Narula Posted On : July 7th, 2021
B.Tech Chemical Engineering, National Institute of Technology Durgapur (2020)

I have a friend who went to NIT Durgapur, so I can give you some idea about the Biotechnology branch at the institute, based on what I heard from her.

According to her, Biotechnology at NIT Durgapur does not get much importance as the other branches such as CSE, IT, or ECE. Also, people often tend to look down on the branch.

Here are the recent placement highlights for Biotechnology at NIT Durgapur.

Eligible Students 28
Total Placed 12
Percentage Placed 42.86
Total Job Offered 13

But Biotechnology is all about interest. If you are passionate about the subject, you can definitely do well in your academics. Don’t worry much about placement. If you have the required skills, you will have decent placement opportunities at NIT Durgapur.
