Should I go for IIT Goa Electrical or NIT Kurukshetra CSE even though I have interest in CSE?
My uncle is a professor of Mathematics at IIT Delhi. According to him, one should prioritize the subject/ branch instead of the college while making such decisions.
You have an interest in CSE, as mentioned by you. In that case, you should go for the best college that is offering you CSE. An ‘IIT’ tag is definitely worthy and IITs have their own advantages. However, it will boil down to nothing if you have no interest in your branch.
But, I also wish to make it clear that NIT Kurukshetra does not offer CSE (Computer Science Engineering). Instead, it offers Computer Engineering (CE). The former revolves around Software, while the latter pays more attention to Hardware.
Try to find out more about CE, and then make your final decision. If you decide that CE is a better choice for you, go for NIT Kurukshetra. Otherwise, choose the other option.
You can also look for some other good colleges that offer CSE.
Which is better: CSE at PEC, Chandigarh or IT at IIIT, Allahabad?
IT at IIIT Allahabad is a better option, compared to CSE at PEC. In terms of academics, facilities, and placements, it has an edge over PEC. IIIT Allahabad placement 2022 concluded with an average CTC of INR 19.52 LPA. The highest CTC offered this year was INR 32.5 LPA. The placement rate was around 100%. The campus has a good student crowd, peer learning opportunities are ample.
But PEC has a locational advantage. Compared to Allahabad, Chandigarh offers better exposure and career opportunities.
I am a B.Tech first year CSE student from NIT Warangal. What are the best ways to utilise my summer holidays?
My friend is a third-year CSE student at NIT Warangal. These are his tips to enhance your programming skills during your summer holidays-
- Coursera is a big help for freshers in any field.
- Do not learn numerous programming languages . It is futile to learn so many syntaxes and programming languages unless you know how to use them.
- Start competitive programming . Competitive programming is an excellent way to polish your programming skills. It is also a great exercise to set your logic in motion. For now, spend time on Codechef/ Topcoder/ Codeforces. For a fresher, Codechef is the best platform. Get into competitive programming before the start of your second year. This will also help you tremendously for the Data Structures & Algorithms course in your second year.
- Internships are easy to grab with the right skills and knowledge. So don’t worry about internships for now.
- You can start open-source contribution later on, if interested. But don’t do it just to be called an “open-source programmer/ contributor”.
- Use the internet as much as possible to enhance your knowledge and skills.

Which is better in terms of the syllabus, placements and college life: NSIT in ECE vs BIT Mesra in CSE?
My friend did his B.Tech ECE from NSIT. According to him, NSIT ECE is a better choice than BIT Mesra CSE. Here are the reasons for his preference for NSIT ECE-
- Location- NSIT graduates have greater access to major industries due to its closeness to cities like Noida and Gurugram. For CAT, GRE, GMAT, etc., Delhi has a good coaching center facility.
- Brand Value- The brand value of NSIT is greater than that of BIT Mesra.
- Faculty at NSIT - You will be taught by some of the best professors in the country at the NSIT ECE department. Their letter of recommendation will open numerous doors for you.
- Seniors at NSIT- The seniors at NSIT are very helpful. Some of your seniors working at top firms may even refer you for an internship/job interview.
- Classes are held regularly at NSIT- There is a 75% attendance criteria at NSIT. The teachers also come for the lectures regularly.
- Coding Culture at NSIT- The coding culture at NSIT is great and their coders make it to GSoC every year. Some of them are also ranked highly on sites like TopCoder and CodeChef.

Is CSE faculty at IIIT Hyderabad good?
My friend studies in IIIT-Sricity which shared some faculties with IIIT Hyderabad initially as it was under its mentorship.
Generally, you can find both good and bad professors here. But the bad here does not mean underqualified, but arrogant ones. By no means will you find a professor who is underqualified and their extensive knowledge is their biggest weapon. Some of them are as great as Prof Raj Reddy, a Turing award winner which is considered a Nobel Prize or Oscar for Computer Science. So you can get an idea of the level of faculties here.
In reality, most students at IIIT Hyderabad are dependent on peers or seniors more than their faculty. So you can stop bothering about the parity of the professors here.

You will choose your own path, and how much you are willing to learn is entirely up to you. It is up to you to improve your skills.

CS branch stands out from all other branches in CGC Landran. In CGC, there are two colleges - COE and CEC
Looking at the academics, CEC is better.
Features of College:
- In the CS batch of CGC, the strength of students is almost 700. In each section, there are 60 students.
- The teaching skills of professors here are not decent. It is more theoretical based on than practical. You have to put in your own efforts. One of my friends was a student of the institute and after one month of the course, he decided to leave the course because of the faculty quality.

To conclude, CGC is a decent college for CS branches. But it would be better to score more marks in JEE Mains to go for JAC Chandigarh.
