How do the placements really compare between IIT Delhi B.Tech Civil Engineering and IIT Bombay B.Tech Computer Science Engineering?

L
LucidLooter Posted On : April 15th, 2026

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Civil Engineering offers a significantly lower tuition fee compared to IIT Bombay's B.Tech in Computer Science, which typically ranges much higher. While IIT Delhi students can expect a total cost of around 4-5 lakhs due to tuition exemptions, IIT Bombay's costs can soar to 12-13 lakhs. In terms of placements, IIT Bombay's Computer Science program has the edge with top tech giants and higher salary packages, making it a better ROI for students aiming for lucrative careers in tech. If you’re passionate about civil engineering and want a cost-effective education, IIT Delhi is a great choice. However, if you're inclined towards a high-paying tech career and can manage the higher fees, IIT Bombay is likely the smarter financial investment.

Should I go for B.Tech Mathematics and Computing in IIT Delhi or B.Tech Computer Science Engineering in IIT Kharagpur?

L
LimeLuminary Posted On : April 15th, 2026

IIT Delhi.

Reasons include:

  • Better professors.
  • Higher calibre of your future classmates.
  • Superior placement opportunities (trust me, many multinational corporations like Samsung Korea and Rubrik U.S. don’t visit IIT Kharagpur, but they regularly come to IIT Delhi for internships and placements).
  • More chances for pursuing further studies at top-tier international universities.

Additionally, IIT Delhi is situated in the heart of Delhi (specifically South Delhi) and is conveniently close to the Delhi airport. There are plenty of restaurants, malls, theatres, and bars to enjoy during your weekends.

On the flip side, the nearest city to IIT Kharagpur is Kolkata, which is about 140 km away. The closest decent restaurant to IIT Kharagpur is a Domino’s outlet, and it doesn’t even deliver pizzas inside the campus.

Also, while I typically don’t put much stock in QS Rankings, you can rely on them when they rank IIT Delhi higher than IIT Kharagpur.

Cheers!

How do the placements really compare between IIT Delhi B.Tech Electrical Engineering Power and Automation and DTU B.Tech Biotechnology?

C
CrypticChasm Posted On : April 14th, 2026

DTU is an amazing college that provides numerous opportunities with MNCs and even overseas! When it comes to Electrical Engineering, it stands out compared to many other colleges (except for some IITs).

Here are some key points:

  • Core electrical companies like Reliance, Tata Power, Philips, and Orient actively recruit from the campus.
  • Coding-based companies such as Microsoft and Amazon also open their doors to students.
  • Non-core companies in market research, consultancies, and analytics offer great opportunities for Electrical Engineering graduates.
  • Many PSUs are also coming for campus recruitment.

While CSE, IT, and ECE are the top priority branches at DTU, don’t just go by the statistics—follow your interest! Best of luck!

If you have a better branch/college combination, like BITS Pilani/Goa CSE/EE or IIT B or D CS/EE/Mech, then definitely go for those!

Also, if you’re getting CSE/EE at IIT Guwahati or Roorkee, the career opportunities in those streams would be much better!

ClockworkCorsair Posted On : April 14th, 2026

IIT Delhi’s B.Tech in Electrical Engineering offers a well-renowned faculty and a rigorous curriculum that promotes problem-solving skills, making it ideal for those passionate about electrical circuits and machines. The campus life is vibrant with numerous clubs and activities, but the high fees can be a drawback for many. In contrast, IIT Guwahati's B.Tech in Engineering Physics appears to have a less competitive environment regarding faculty and curriculum, but it still provides good placement opportunities with tech giants. If you’re set on electrical engineering and want a prestigious degree, IIT Delhi is the way to go. However, if you lean towards a broader physics-based approach and prefer a potentially less stressful environment, IIT Guwahati could be a better fit.

PensiveProphet Posted On : April 14th, 2026

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering tends to have a higher fee structure, around 20 lakhs, but the return on investment is compelling due to strong internship opportunities with top-tier companies like Amazon and Google. In contrast, IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Electronics and Electrical Communication Engineering, while also prestigious, may offer slightly lower fees and potentially less lucrative placements in comparison. Both colleges provide excellent faculty and campus life, but IIT Delhi edges ahead in terms of industry connections and job prospects, making it the smarter financial choice for those focused on high-paying tech roles. If you prioritize cutting-edge technology and internships, go for IIT Delhi; if you're leaning towards a more balanced fee structure with solid electronics engineering prospects, IIT Kharagpur could be your pick.

Should I go for B.Tech Electrical Engineering in IIT Delhi or B.Tech Naval architecture & Ocean Engineering in IIT Kharagpur?

Z
ZincZebra Posted On : April 14th, 2026

IIT Delhi for B.Tech Electrical Engineering offers a strong reputation and high ROI with around 88% placements, but the fees are steep, making it a challenge for middle-class families. In contrast, IIT Kharagpur’s B.Tech Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering may have a lower student-faculty ratio and decent placements, but the specifics on scholarships and fees suggest it might not provide the same financial pressure as IIT Delhi. If you have a strong interest in electrical circuits and can manage the higher costs, IIT Delhi is a great choice, but if you're looking for better value for money and a unique field, IIT Kharagpur could be smarter financially. So, go for IIT Delhi if you're passionate about electrical engineering, but consider IIT Kharagpur for a balanced financial option.

Which one should I opt for IIT Delhi B.Tech Computer Science Engineering or IIT Kharagpur B.Tech Agricultural and Food Engineering + M.Tech Farm Machinery and Power

M
MagmaMage Posted On : April 14th, 2026

IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering offers a strong edge when it comes to placements and internship opportunities compared to IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Agricultural and Food Engineering + M.Tech in Farm Machinery and Power. With major tech companies like Amazon and Google frequently recruiting from IIT Delhi, the career prospects for CSE graduates are significantly higher, especially given the booming demand in AI and ML fields. In contrast, while IIT Kharagpur provides a unique niche in agricultural engineering, the job market in this sector can be more limited and competitive.

Therefore, if you're aiming for a high-paying tech job and a broader range of internship options, IIT Delhi is the way to go; however, if you have a specific passion for agricultural engineering, IIT Kharagpur might be a better fit for you.

Should I go for B.Tech Mechanical Engineering in IIT Delhi or B.Tech Electronics & Communication Engineering in NSUT?

T
TwistedTeriyaki Posted On : April 14th, 2026

IIT Delhi clearly stands out with its comprehensive curriculum and abundant internship opportunities, which set students up for success in the competitive job market. While the B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering at NSUT may offer solid academics, it can't quite match the vibrancy of campus life and the extensive alumni network at IIT Delhi. The diverse range of companies recruiting from IIT, along with high placement percentages, make it a more attractive option for those looking to kickstart their careers. Personally, I'd recommend IIT Delhi for anyone serious about engineering, especially if you're aiming for top-tier placements and a robust campus experience. However, if you have a particular interest in electronics and prefer a slightly less intense environment, NSUT could still be a good fit.
