Among Jai Hind College Mumbai and Maharaja Agrasen College Delhi- which is better for mass communication and journalism?

AM
Anuva Maity Posted On : January 19th, 2021
Bachelor of Arts Degrees & Physical Education, Maharaja Agrasen College, University of Delhi (2019)

Both of these colleges have their own pros and cons. Some of which are mentioned below.

Maharaja Agrasen College:

It is a part of Delhi University, this implies that you can avail benefits from DU in terms of guidance and materials.

Jai Hind College:

  • Jai Hind College’s location is suitable for the students, you can get an opportunity to interact with students from other colleges and different branches.
  • Both teaching and non-teaching staff are excellent, they are better than the rest of the colleges as a matter of fact.
  • Jai Hind College Alumni has Priyanka Chopra, John Abraham, Madhuri Dixit, etc. on their list.
  • JHC has established several connections with several Canadian institutions which is a big advantage for the students.
  • JHC has recently acquired the autonomous privilege, this reflects that they can now change the syllabus according to the changing requirements.

Most of the students applying for Maharaja Agrasen College come from the CBSE board. Whereas, at JHC the majority of the students are from the HSC board. In the HSC board, it is tough to score high marks, in the CBSE board scoring high marks is tough but achievable. So, do not compare cut-off in order to determine which institute is better. Since it won’t provide a fair evaluation.

SS
Sumit Saha Posted On : September 4th, 2021
B.Tech Electronics and Communication Engineering & Information Technology, K.J. Somaiya College of Engineering

I have friends from both KJ Somiya and DJ Sanghavi. Based on the conversations I had with them, here is a brief comparison of the institutes.

  • Teaching: Both institutes have good faculty bases and good academic infrastructure with well-established laboratories.
  • Student crowd: The crowd at both institutes is similar. Both have a Gujrathi minority.
  • Campus: KJ Somiya has a bigger campus. It has a full-size football ground, basketball ground, volleyball ground, tennis court, etc. DJ Sanghavi has a small campus but it offers better infrastructure.
  • Placements: Placement wise KJ Somiya is better than DJ Sanghavi. The former offers better packages. Most of the companies that recruit from KJ Somiya are from the IT industry. Also, a few telecom companies visit the campus placements.

Here are the placement highlights of both the institutes in brief.

Category  KJ Somiya  DJ Sanghavi
Average CTC  5 LPA  6.60 LPA
Highest CTC  18 LPA  20 LPA
Major recruiters  Microsoft, HDFC Bank, Jio Adobe, JP Morgan, Morgan Stanley

Both Electronics and EXTC students can appear for Telecommunications companies. However, EXTC has better scopes in this field.

Which is better, VIT Chennai or IET Lucknow?

AB

Studied at Institute of Engineering and Technology, Lucknow

IET Lucknow is better. Being a Govt. institute it charges a lower course fee. If you are planning on preparing for competitive examinations like CAT, GATE, GRE, etc. IET will be the right choice. The college schedule is flexible and leaves a lot of room for exploring other interests. Lucknow has good coaching institutes for competitive examinations. At IET, you will meet seniors who have qualified GATE, CAT, GRE, etc. They will be able to guide you regarding preparations.

Which has the better coding culture, IIT BHU or MNNIT Allahabad?

AS
Ashutosh Sahu Posted On : August 14th, 2020
M.Tech Biomedical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology Varanasi (2013)

Both IIT BHU and MNNIT Allahabad are old and well-reputed colleges and offer good CSE programs in terms of academics and placements.

Being an old NIT, MNNIT Allahabad offers decent placement and the placement rate for CSE at this institute is around 97.60%. In the 2019, 163 students were placed out of 167 students from the CSE department and the average CTC offered was around 15.12 LPA. Whereas, the highest CTC went up to 36 LPA. IIT BHU had a 100% placement from the CSE department and the average CTC ranged between 10 LPA to 58 LPA.

But IIT BHU offers a better coding culture than MNNIT Allahabad. In IIT BHU almost every student gets engaged in coding, irrespective of their branch which makes for a rich coding culture on the campus. Many students were selected in Google Summer of Coding (GSoC) in 2018. Many freshers start competitive coding from the very beginning of their course. The programming society is quite active here, students participate in technical activities and various coding competitions. The results of inter IIT coding competitions are proof of IIT BHU’s growing popularity in coding.

What should I go for, MAIT, BVP, or AIT CSE?

SB
Sanjukta Bose Posted On : July 2nd, 2021
Studied at Maharaja Agrasen Institute of Technology

Before choosing a college, you should consider things like - Infrastructure, fee structure, faculty profile, placements, coding culture, the branch of interest, extracurricular activities, distance from home, etc.

All these colleges are affiliated with Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University, Delhi. AIT, now known as AIACTR, is a government college while MAIT and BVP are private colleges.

If we compare only private colleges, then the preference order will be as the following.

  • BVCOE can be ranked higher in terms of academics.
  • In terms of placements and co-curricular activities, MAIT deserves a higher position.
  • If we consider the coding culture, MSIT can be ranked higher.

Here is a comparison between government colleges and private colleges:

  • In government colleges, the fee is almost half that of private colleges. Hence, it provides relief to people having financial problems.
  • The facilities at government colleges are not at par with private colleges. The facilities are usually of poor quality. In private colleges, even if the college lacks certain facilities, the reforms are quick whereas in government colleges, it takes a lot of time and you might spend half of your college life without availing of such facilities.
  • The quality of teaching is very important to note here. In government colleges, most of the teachers do not teach at par the required quality.

Based on what I heard from my friend I will say the preference order should be - MAIT>BVP>AIT.

Which is better: NMIMS Mumbai or Fergusson Pune?

AD
Aditi Deshpande Posted On : June 6th, 2023
Lives in Pune,Maharashtra

NMIMS Mumbai is famous for its best Management courses and its world-class education system. The NMIMS method has always been to innovate and develop educational programs that meet the needs of the industry and society. The goal of NMIMS has always been to improve the employability of graduates.

Fergusson College, Pune was set up for functioning in the year 1895 by the Deccan Education Society. It is affiliated to Savitribai Phule Pune University. This nation-building institution provides a plethora of degree courses at both, UG and PG levels. Apart from the degree courses, the college also offers special courses, vocational courses, certificate courses, and Ph.D. programs for students.

The academic programs offered by the college at UG level are B.A. in 15 subjects and B.Sc. in 13 subjects all under Arts and Science faculty.

Now the comparable courses for NMIMS and Fergusson are BSc Economics from NMIMS and BA Economics from Fergusson.

If you're looking for placements after graduation, NMIMS is the better of the two. But if placements are not a criterion, choose Ferguson as it has a better crowd, campus life, and environment.

As Fergusson College is older, it has more respect in society and a stronger alumni network.

You can join NMIMS if you are looking for quality education and placements but join Ferguson if you want a relatively laid-back college life.
