What is better: EEE at BITS Hyderabad or CS at VIT Vellore?
As a former EEE student at BITS Goa, I would not recommend taking up EEE at BITS Hyderabad if you want a career in the field of software engineering.
Here are the reasons why-
- The coding involved in EEE is not enough. You’ll code in MATLAB, which is rarely used in the IT sector. You’ll have to devote extra time to learning Python, Java, and other languages.
- CS involves much more than coding, all of which you’ll miss out on.
- Elective courses like OS, DSA, Comp Arch have very limited seats, and not everyone gets to pick them. Also, you’ll get these courses by your third or fourth year. By then you’ll either be under too much pressure to complete your main syllabus or it’ll be too late because the placement season will have begun.
- Top IT companies don’t open for non CS candidates, and even for the companies that do, you’ll have to compete with CS students.
- BITS will give you all the necessary exposure, quality education and opportunities. However, as a non IT student you’ll still find difficulty in getting an IT job via campus placements.
Based on all these points, I would recommend choosing CSE at VIT for better job prospects in the IT sector.
How is the CUSAT fire and safety branch?
BTech Safety and Fire Engineering at CUSAT is a lucrative branch with great career opportunities. Almost 90% of students graduate with a placement offer. But the career outcome of the institute is limited since it is not a mainstream branch. You may face problems in the future if you want to go for competitive examinations like GATE. Go for this branch, only if you are sure that you want a career in this field. Since not many institutes offer this engineering degree, the competition is less. It is easy to secure a good placement opportunity.
Course Highlights:
- This course is great for people who want to make their career in Process Safety Engineering or Technical Safety Engineering.
- It is not true that students of this branch get positions like Safety Officer or Fire Officer after completing the degree. Students of this course get a little better technical jobs.
- There are many cool small companies in the vicinity of Chennai, Pune, Bangalore, or NCR. These companies offer good technical jobs. Although the initial salary package may be less, you will have the opportunity to improve your career.
- You can also opt for off-campus placements and apply to companies directly.

Should I opt for CSE in IIT Gandhinagar?
IIT Gandhinagar CSE is a well-regarded program and despite being newly launched it has gained popularity in a short time period. This in itself is a testament to the quality of education offered here. The institute fairs well in almost all aspects be it faculty, opportunities, internships, and projects, etc.
The new IITs have their own weaknesses and strengths. Even the departments within an institute are not at the same level. The CSE department of IIT Gandhinagar is certainly superior among other branches of the institute and the institute itself is better than other new IITs. The professors here have high qualifications and a strong research profile.
In all, you should certainly join CAE at IIT Gandhinagar if you want to experience a good campus life, with locational advantages, and excellent placements.
Which is a better choice at NIT Silchar, Mechanical or CSE?
Most students, freshly out of school, try to choose an Engineering branch for themselves. You might be someone who has a deep passion for either Mechanical or CSE. In that case, I would advise you to follow your heart.
But if you think not opting for CSE is a bad decision, just ask yourself why you would consider CSE. Is it because you did some coding in your school days and wish to enter into that field, or simply because CSE is popular. Don’t be in the illusion of liking a branch just because everyone is recommending it. Also, don’t go for any branch solely because it has better placements than the other. As long as you enjoy a particular field, you will get good offers.
Mechanical is a good branch at NIT Silchar. Moreover, as research has become increasingly interdisciplinary in nature, various departments collaborate with one another these days. Even Mechanical has a good involvement of CSE- Robotics, CFD, etc. all involve high level coding and the knowledge of Data Structures. Because today most campuses witness IT placements more than core profiles, I would highly recommend you consult the alumni of Mechanical to figure out what placements are like in ground reality.

Also, NIT Silchar offers a branch change after the 2nd semester. This is based on your performance in the first two semesters. In case you feel dissatisfied with your choice, you can opt for branch change as well.

What is the average package of IET DAVV in the CSE, IT, EI, and ET branch?
One of my friends was a student of IET DAVV, and he has studied Computer Science at this institute.
He once told me that lots of companies came to select candidates from CS and IT stream. If you are in the average category but has good concepts in your subjects (IT and CS), or has sufficient programming skills, then you can easily get the placement in a reputed company. However, if you are not performing well in the other companies, then there is a chance to get placed in the mass recruiter organizations, which is also not a bad option to start a career.
The average CTC for all the branches is approximately 4.25, but here average CTC is considered. This is because the range is hardly started from 3.5 LPA to 12 LPA or 13 LPA in some cases. It is also seen that lot of the companies also provide around 5-6 LPA.

If you want to top B.Tech. from AKTU, adopt consistency and hard work. Rather than focusing on theory parts, pay more attention to numerical questions. The listed below points will help you further in getting a good rank:

How hard is it to get into NIT Trichy and get CSE? How hard did you study?
NIT Trichy is a really good college when it comes to most NITs. But, you will only get admission through JEE Main. You will definitely have to score well if you plan to secure admission here.
- About 90% of the entire paper is quite easy to solve at home but you will have to develop skills to be able to solve the paper quickly and efficiently.
- See how well you can do with MCQs along with your boards’ preparation.
- Develop your accuracy, for example, if you solve 30 questions, ensure that 18 of them are correct at least even if you end up attempting only 22 of them.
- As far as CSE or any good core branch is concerned, NITs are relatively easier to get into as compared to IITs.

You will have to do your best and strive a little hard in order to secure your seat. Getting into core branches is quite tough especially for branches like ECE and mechanical. Regarding your question on whether or not to choose BIT Mesra for your CSE, I would say that the CSE course at BIT Mesra is quite good. Here are a few colleges for CSE that are superior to BIT Mesra according to me- NIT Trichy, NIT Warangal, NIT Surathkal, NIT Calicut, NIT Rourkela, NIT Allahabad, and MNIT Jaipur.
As far as placements are concerned, they are top notch for the CSE branch at BIT Mesra. During the 2022 placements, 113 out of 124 eligible students were placed. The lowest package stood at INR 4 LPA, the average package at INR 19.27 LPA and the highest package at INR 58.33 LPA. The median package was recorded at INR 16 LPA. The companies that visited the BIT Mesra campus for CSE placements were- Micorosoft, Wells Fargo, Walmart, GS, Paytm, Vmware, KPMG, Oracle, MMT, Atlassian, Lowe’s, Whitehat Jr., JF, among others. Media.net, Amazon, Disney, Indeed, Google, American Express, etc. visited the campus after September.
For the IT branch at BIT Mesra, the companies that offered placements were- Amazon, Microsoft, Mindtickle, JF, GS, Paytm, DE Shaw, Whitehat Jr., Walmart, Atlassian, SWYM, Oracle, KPMG, Vmware, etc. In IT, 56 out of 59 eligible students were placed. The average salary stood at INR 20.58 LPA. The highest, median and lowest package was the same as that for CSE.
Basically, if you do not get a top NIT for your CSE, you should choose BIT Mesra. It has good placements for this course.
Which is better, NIT Kurukshetra IT or NIT Jamshedpur CS?
NIT Jamshedpur CS is better than NIT Kurukshetra IT. It offers better placement opportunities to students. According to the highlights of NIT Jamshedpur placements 2022, students of CSE received the highest CTC of around INR 37.50 LPA. Amazon, Deloitte, Tata Group are some of the major recruiters that frequently visit the campus placements.
Which is better: a CSE at new IITs like Patna, Indore or a CSE at DTU?
My friend was in a similar dilemma last year and chose DTU over IIT Patna. She considers new IITs overhyped and not at par with the IIT standards. Running after the IIT tag is not logical and you should look at the bigger picture. Anaise your career prospects and see if other options fit your prospects or not.
DTU is a great option for CSE considering the excellent exposure and opportunities you will get in Delhi, the capital. The salary packages, the companies, and the profiles offered at DTU are similar to the new IITs if not better.
To make things simpler, here are a few pros and cons of going for a new IIT instead of DTU
Pros:
- The most coveted IIT tag name, helps you get admission to foreign universities and also helps you in off-campus job hunt.
- IITs have better research opportunities
- The academic structure and pedagogy are world-class at IITs
Cons:
- Being in Delhi will groom your overall personality in addition to excellent professional opportunities and exposure.
- The new IITs fail to give a vibrant and dynamic college life and are still struggling with infrastructure and basics. DTU, being old, has a vibrant culture with all sorts of fests, cultural and tech activities.
- Delhi is the hub of coaching institutes for higher education.
- DTU has a better brand name established by its successful alumni spread across the globe.
Ultimately it’s your choice whether you want a better campus life or the IIT tag.
