Which college is better among JIS NARULA DR Sudhir Chandra or Guru Nanak of Kolkata for CSE?
JIS College of Engineering, Kalyani is the best place to study in West Bengal. Following are the reasons to choose this college:
- New courses, such as Speakers Corner and British Council, are introduced to help students develop completely.
- In addition, flip learning has been introduced. You will learn topics by being exposed to visuals.
- Classroom interiors have been modified.
- In addition, the examination pattern has shifted. There is no internal examination. Instead, you'll be asked to create a PowerPoint presentation on a course-related topic.

What are some bitter truths about Great Lakes, Chennai, PGDM?
Great Lakes Chennai is a dream college of many MBA aspirants but the truth is it is kind of overestimated. One of my friends who is a recent pass-out, unveiled some dark truths about the institute
- The admission process at Great Lakes is highly biased and untransparent. The majority of seats are filled by Management quota thus affecting those who had high percentile and performed excellently in the interview.
- My friend also told me how Great Lakes charged registration fees for the WAT/PI round and filled those seats with Management quota.
- The rankings of the institute are forged and paid. Don't let these rankings make you believe that it is at par with top B Schools.
These were some harsh realities about the Great Lakes that I felt anyone planning to join it should be aware of.
Why is IPM at IIM Indore good?
IIM Indore, which was founded in 1996 and is one of the top six elite IIMs, launched the Integrated Program in Management (IPM) in 2011. The course is divided into three years of UG and two years of PG and is designed to provide a holistic and pragmatic education.
The IPM was created to diversify the student population in Post-Graduation Program (PGP) classes. The first three years of the program assisted students in developing a stronger foundation of management discipline, which helped them perform better in their MBA. The foundation course focuses on the IPM's "four pillars": statistics, economics, mathematics, and social sciences. There are also humanities, literature, and skill-building courses available, as well as the option to study a foreign language.
The IPM also offers a set of subjects known as bridge courses. They include courses in information technology, intellectual property rights, and corporate law basics. IPM students also participate in a two-month social internship within a core social domain, such as a nonprofit, social organization, or a company's CSR wings. IPM students graduate with a Bachelor of Arts (Foundations of Management) and an MBA after five years.
Academics believe that integrated courses shape students' personalities as holistic and hardworking individuals because they are taken at an age when they are entering adulthood.

I am a B.Tech Civil student at IIT Roorkee. Here’s a comparison between the two options-

One important thing that my friends told me is that the Mechanical Engineering Department at IIT BHU is one of the strictest departments in India. It makes the students question their own potential. The department professors are very strict and the coursework is extremely rigorous. The students are given assignments and projects which they have to complete within a day.
I would suggest you choose IIT Roorkee Civil as it offers the same facilities and placements as IIT BHU Mechanical. Moreover, the Civil department at IITR is not as strict as the Mechanical department at IIT BHU.

How you rate Great Lakes Chennai or Gurgaon for PGPM??
Since its establishment, Great Lakes be it Chennai or Gurgaon has been delivering premium quality management education at par with recent industry trends.
As per the official rankings, Great Lales Chennai ranked 31st among management institutes by NIRF 2023 and 11th among private colleges by IIRF Ranking 2023. On the other hand, Great Lakes Gurgaon was ranked 62 out of 125 colleges by NIRF in India in 2023 and it was 52 out of 125 colleges in India in 2022.
However, these rankings are highly transparent and misleading. Either the ranking parameters are not credible or the institutes refuse to participate resulting in exaggerated figures. So it's best to talk to alumni to get a better picture and don’t just rely on rankings.
What is the reputation of IIIT Hyderabad in the Silicon Valley?
Honestly, IIIT Hyderabad does not receive the hype it deserves and does not highly regard in Silicon Valley either. No donut, it has many big recruiters but given its top-notch faculty and education, it should have a much better reputation than it has today. I personally feel that this stems from a few flaws of the institute. For instance, it lacks a lot of the essential Math, EE, Design, and even several Business, Finance, and Management courses which are prominent in IITs and BITS. IIIT Hyderabad curriculum revolves around programming only and getting a lucrative package at Google MTV or Microsoft Redmond or Facebook seems to be the ultimate goal of the CS students here. People fail to realize that no matter how huge the package offered is, they are just routine Software Engineering jobs at the end of the day. Many IIT graduates give up on such offers just to pursue entrepreneurship or research.
Comparing IIIT Hyderabad with any old IIT says IIT Guwahati, you will see that although the latter has lower placement statistics, its graduates have diverse prospects like MS/PhDs from top US Universities, MBAs from Harvard-Stanford-Wharton, unlike IIIT Hyderabad students who end up with the most monotonous jobs as Software Engineers.
In a nutshell, the reason IIIT Hyderabad has failed to gain a good reputation in silicon valley is the lack of diversity and flexibility in its curriculum and has nothing to do with the quality of its education or job opportunities.
