How many subjects do we have to choose in BA for IGNOU?

AP
Ajay Pandey Posted On : October 17th, 2022
B.A Political Science & pub ad from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

A student should take no more than 96 credits in BA (applicable for every subject).

To obtain a major in any subject, a student must have a total of 48 credits in that subject, which equates to 6 papers of 8 credits taken over three years. (2 papers per year)

The remaining 48 credits are divided as follows:

  • In the first and second years, compulsory papers BSHF 101 and FST 01, each worth 8 credits.

  • Students in their second year are required to take one elective course in addition to the compulsory course and the subject in which they are majoring.

  • Applied Courses are for third-year students, and they can be taken for 8 or 16 credits.

  • Students may take any subject from Group 1 to Group A1 in addition to Group A1.

As a result, the number of subjects taken each year is determined by the number of credits a student takes. If a 4-credit subject is chosen, the student should take two 4-credit papers for a total of 8 credits, increasing the number of papers.

MCA MAH MSW MPA MAPY MPS from Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

You have two options for cancelling your admission.

  • Send an email to your local centre.

  • Visit the regional centre and request that your admission be cancelled.

  • To find the email address of your regional centre, simply login to IGNOU and select the view address option in the regional centre column.

You will receive information about your regional centres, such as their email address and phone number.

You must include the following information in your email.

  • Your name

  • Your registration number

  • Your program's title

  • Attach your IGNOU ID and Aadhar card (or any other ID for identification, such as a voter ID) and explain why you are withdrawing.

If you are a new candidate who has not yet received your study materials, you will be refunded, but I have no idea if you are an old student. After cancelling your admission, it usually takes 15 to 20 days to receive your refund.

Another thing is that you must check your admission status on your own by logging in to your account because they do not notify you via email or text message.

How is NMIMS MPSTME MBA Tech course?

BB
Bhumika Bose Posted On : January 25th, 2022
MBA(Tech.) Civil Engineering & Operations Management, SVKM's NMIMS (2017)

If you are considering NMIMS MPSTME for doing an MBA Tech course, here are some things that you should know.

  • The course is good but it can’t be compared to the core MBA offered by NMIMS. Don’t join the institute just because of the brand name NMIMS.
  • The institute has a strict 80% attendance rule.
  • The living cost is quite high, especially if you are coming from Mumbai. You should consider it while calculating the course fee and the ROI.
  • It doesn’t have a campus.

Below are some of the pros of the MBA Tech course.

  • Join the course if you want to learn about Management.
  • Choose the Mumbai campus, because of the exposure that you will get. There are some great student chapters like ACM, PMI, CSI, MUN, etc. The student council also organizes great events and great lectures.
  • One of the biggest advantages of choosing this course is that you will get 50 marks in internal evaluation. So, passing the subjects is easier.
  • Some of the management faculties are quite good.
  • The curriculum contains two internships i.e. technical and management. You will get to learn a lot through these internships. You will save one year and gain 6 months of experience.

NMIMS MPSTEM placement scenario is average. According to the recent placement highlights, the average CTC offered to the students is 7.95 LPA.

Is Lovely Professional University good for BTech?

NK
Nischay Kumar Posted On : May 4th, 2024
BTech from LPU

I did my BTech from LPU in 2023. I can say it is one of the top private universities to do BTech. I say this because of 3 main reasons:

  • Skilled Faculty
  • Infrastructure & High-class facilities
  • Latest Technology

LPU’s BTech CSE department has tied-up Google, CompTIA and various other automation companies. LPU has state of the art labs with latest technology to provide hands on practical exposure to students. Students can also go for semester exchange program.

What was the toughest course you took at IIT Bombay?

AJ
Advait Joshi Posted On : March 18th, 2023
Lives in Mumbai, Maharashtra, India

There is a course called CS207 Discrete Structures taught by Professor Ajit Diwan. It was related to Discrete Mathematics - Number Theory, Graph Theory, Combinatorics, Sets, and Groups, and was one of the most difficult courses my friend came across.

Professor Diwan is well known for his highly challenging problems and course material. During his lectures, he delivers a lot of information based on principles. For math lovers, his classes are an absolute delight.

He refrains from conducting more than one exam a month. However, the level of difficulty of the exam is high. The questions look very complicated but when one ponders upon them, they don’t seem that difficult.

The exams were extremely difficult to the extent that the passing cutoff was 7 out of 100 marks. Despite the entire batch consisting of JEE toppers, a lot of them were not able to make it to the cutoff.

Why is IIT Kharagpur Electrical Engineering department so deadly? How do they differ from others' IIT Electrical Department?

AC
Anumita Chatterjee Posted On : March 22nd, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur (IITK)

My brother had offers from IITs to choose any branch except CSE and chose Electrical Engineering in IIT KGP. To date, he does not regret his decision. There are ups and downs in every Institute; it just takes time to adapt yourself to such situations.

It is true that some professors overdo it and push you to the extreme, but if you look at this in a positive manner, it’s their pushing that eventually helps you succeed. There are many seniors who might make fun of your tiny efforts in the labs but trust me, today when they will look back, they will surely be regretting the time they wasted watching movies or series.

My brother told me that Electrical Engineering gave him so many friends and experiences that make him yearn for college life today. The labs are old-fashioned and lack much activity in contrast to a SigNet lab/ Power Systems lab.

  • Curriculum: The primary aim of the course curriculum offered in Electrical Engineering at IIT KGP is to impart to students tools and skills that will make it possible for them to excel in departments such as Electronics, Communication, Computers, Aerospace, and Energy.
  • Job prospects: An important point to note is that Electrical Engineering does not prepare you for a job but for higher education in the respective areas. Many people from the department pursue M.S. in Aerospace and Material Sciences.
  • Faculty: While many may not agree, the faculty is excellent except for a few. The cream faculty include Prof. D Das, Prof TKB, Prof S Patra, and Prof S Chattopadhyay among others. Interacting with them might change your opinion regarding the IIT KGP faculty.
  • Research: The research is obviously not at par with that conducted in CS or EC, but it surely does justice to the department itself.

I think it’s high time people clear misconceptions about Electrical Engineering and develop a positive opinion about it. We should stop running after jobs and companies and in turn let companies seek us.

lives in New Delhi

There are mentors available to the students, weekly live conversations with the professors, and question-solving sessions held online that do not conflict with the student's normal working hours, thus it is definitely worthwhile. All tasks are handled effectively by UpGrad. For further information, you may contact UpGrad.

Are master's degrees from IGNOU acceptable for admission into Ph.D. courses in top universities?

PT
Parth Tyagi Posted On : October 20th, 2022
M.A. in Economics, Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)

It is not only accepted, but it also falls into the H+ category. The H + classification simply indicates that the degrees earned at this institution are transferable to the university sector. It has nothing to do with a preliminary decision on whether this institution's qualifications can be equated with German higher education qualifications. It should be noted that no equivalence determination or evaluation of higher education institutions in Anabin occurs on the Status down.

Contrary to popular belief, the question of whether a foreign institution corresponds to a German university or a German university of applied sciences is not answered. In the field of higher education, equivalence definitions and assessments are conducted solely in terms of final types and degrees.

What are the reviews about the courses by E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee and CloudxLab?

RL
Rishabh Luthra Posted On : April 11th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee

The courses provided by Cloudxlab, E&ICT Academy and IIT Roorkee are well structured. All the credits go to the excellent CloudxLab team which provides constant assistance on issues related to labs and coursework via the discussion forum.

The course offers hands-on knowledge in Data/ Data Engineering technologies. It is suitable for anyone with basic programming knowledge, SQL database work, and an inclination toward Data Science. There is many differences in the price as well as the curriculum of the courses offered by E&ICT Academy, IIT Roorkee, and CloudxLab.

Merits

  • Well-structured coursework taught through short videos and quizzes for evaluation
  • The discussion forum provides assistance in lab work and projects
  • The solution of the project is available for assistance
  • The videos can be saved for future reference
  • Courses are offered at a discount except the lab access

Demerits

  • The project work has to be completed in the limited timeframe of 3 months
  • Some Spark modules are difficult to comprehend especially by beginners
  • The videos are extremely short and sometimes fail to explain the entire concept
  • Lab web console and Hue editor face technical issues on a regular basis.

Ultimately it can be said that it is a decent learning platform that provides training at subsidiary rates and is growing at an exponential rate.
