Generally speaking, IIM Sambalpur and IIM Bodh Gaya are baby IIMs and quite similar in the sense that they have been established around the same time and have similar facilities. Yet if I had to choose one, I would always go for IIM Bodh Gaya because of the following reasons:
- IIM Bodh Gaya functioned once under the oldest IIM, IIM Calcutta, and therefore has a similar pedagogy and curriculum.
- It’s located at a tourist spot for Buddhists and Hindus and thus has good connectivity values. This in turn attracts better faculty and more companies for placements.
- The hostels are quite near to the academic block and provide single occupancy rooms.
- The student-driven clubs and committees at IIM Bodh Gaya keep the rigor high on campus through various events and competitions.

We can say that IIM Bodh Gaya has made quite a mark despite being recently established. It has witnessed fast-paced growth over the past few years so it’s definitely a good choice.
Which one should I choose between IIM Jammu and IIM Bodh Gaya?
It’s up to you to decide which college to go to. I can only throw some light on the advantages IIM Jammu has over other newly established IIMs including IIM Bodh Gaya
- It was established in 2016 and initially was affiliated with IIM Lucknow but in 2019 it became an autonomous body.
- It’s located in the center of Jammu in the vicinity of the airport, the railway station, and the bus stand and therefore offers excellent connectivity.
- The students face a tight schedule and are well prepared for corporate life.
- Great emphasis is placed on extracurricular activities.
- The Annual Sports Event “Funathon” is held to showcase the talents of students in sports.
- Guest lectures, HR Conclave, and CEO Summit make it possible for the students to have a one-to-one interaction with Industry experts.
- Various clubs and committees are maintained by the students as well as the faculty.
These points are based on my friends' experience only. If you ask others I am sure you will see mixed responses. This is because both the IIMs are newly established and don’t have much difference.
When will IIM Bodh Gaya get a new campus?
The permanent campus of IIM Bodh Gaya is still under construction and is expected to be ready in a year or two. IIM Bodh Gaya is currently functioning from its temporary campus at Magadh University. Recently it was shifted to a new academic block which is in the vicinity of the permanent campus construction site. The campus was due to be completed by 2022 but the pandemic caused the delay.
Is it possible to get an education loan before admission in IIM Bodh Gaya? Is a co-borrower necessary as my parents income is 1 lakhs per year?

While SIBM Bangalore may have slightly better placement opportunities, graduating from IIM Bodhgaya will be a great achievement and you will be proud to say that you have studied at an IIM.

However, if you have the determination and belief that you can score higher on the CAT exam and have strong academics, it may be worth considering giving it another shot for the chance to attend a better institute. It's important to weigh all the options and consider the long-term benefits before making a decision. Ultimately, the choice is yours and it's important to choose the institution that aligns with your career goals and aspirations.
Is Integrated programme of management of IIM Bodh Gaya worth it?
Whether a course is suitable for a person depends solely on what he wants from the course and his priorities. You cannot generalize a course's value. Yet, in my opinion, it’s a course worth doing for everyone. Some points that speak in favor of this program are
- Unlike the general misconception of IPM being lower in terms of degree, the IPM program at IIM Bodh Gaya offers dual degrees to its students (B.A (Foundations in Management) and a normal MBA).
- Despite being a new IIM, it has carried the legacy of IIM and has proven its worth through its fast-paced growth and 100% placement percentage.
- IIM Bodh Gaya maintains strong international relations with world-class educational institutes like SolBridge International School of Business in South Korea and Montpellier Business School in France through its elite student exchange program
- Its location is one of the reasons many students choose it over other new IIMs. It’s located just 7 km away from the Gaya airport at a Buddhist tourist spot.
So IIM Bodh Gaya in general and its IPM program especially is worth taking.
What is the dress code of IIM? I am going to join IIM Bodh Gaya this year but I don’t have any idea about the uniform.
There is no strictly followed dress code at IIM Bodh Gaya. Yet you are expected to dress properly on certain occasions. For instance
- For your pre-placement process you are expected to be dressed either in Business casuals or smart casuals
- For your Placement Interviews and Group Discussions, your attire should necessarily be formal.
- During your classes it’s recommended that you dress up in smart casuals as it gives a good impression on the faculty. Wearing informal T-Shirts might set a wrong image of you.
- During class presentations, you should adopt General smart casuals as your dress code and if the presentation is extra serious, you might even wear formal.
- In the hostel you can wear whatever you want and there are no boundaries. Still, you are expected to be modestly clothed as the hostels are co-Ed.
So before joining IIM, try to arrange at least 3 formal suits that might come in handy during emergencies.
How is the infrastructure at IIM Bodh Gaya
IIM Bodh Gaya students have their own campus building. Its infrastructure is top-notch and enhances the learning experience of its students. Its building was constructed under the guidance and instruction of the Government of Bihar. Some major pinnacles of the infrastructure are
