IIM Indore IPM is better. This program was the first of its kind, in India and 6 batches have already graduated. As per the 2022 placement highlights, the average CTC for IPM was INR 25 LPA. At IIM Rohtak, IPM is a new course. The first batch will graduate in 2024.

Other than these factors, the two IPM programs vary in terms of course curriculum and selection criteria.

The aspects of judging a college’s worth depend on the following factors

  • legacy
  • alumni experience
  • perception among peers
  • quality of students
  • faculty
  • institute culture
  • events and activities
  • pedagogy
  • Summer and final placement opportunities

NMIMS renders you short-term advantages but IIMs offer many long term advantages. Even the faculty is better at IIMs than at NMIMS. But being a new institute, it lacks an alumni base. Any far-sighted person can definitely say that your IIM tag will help you in the long run.

Now based on your list, the order is

IIM Udaipur>IIM Ranchi>IIM Trichy>IIM Rohtak> IIM Raipur>IIM Kashipur

If you have to join one: NMIMS MUMBAI or IIM ROHTAK, which one would you join and why?

PO

MBA from Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode (Graduated 2022)

Given the two chances, I will definitely join IIM Rohtak over NMIMS anytime. The reasons for my choice are

Campus: The newly made campus of IIM Rohtak stretches over 150 acres and is loaded with top-notch facilities. Although some might consider its location at a disadvantage to NMIMS, in reality, it is just an hour's drive away from Delhi.

Placements: IIM Rohtak has an upper hand in placement opportunities as well.

Average CTC

INR 23.07 LPA

Highest CTC

Pedagogy: You can never compare the pedagogy of an IIM with any other B School. It’s very rigorous and the curriculum does not focus on academics, but also on exposure. This exposure is brought by events like TEDx and Marathon where students learn how to manage. Guest faculties from other IIMs, institutes like MDI, and senior management from top firms visit the campus for industry exposure.

Fees: IIM Rohtak- ?9.9 Lakhs (1st Year Fees)NMIMS- ?11.95 Lakhs (1st Year Fees). Despite being an IIM, Rohtaks fees are lesser than NMIMS.

Peer Learning: The peers are some of the most talented people you will ever come across. They have gotten into IIM with a percentile of more than 99.5. Moreover, there is a healthy blend of freshers and experienced students to promote effective peer learning. Most activities are conducted group-wise and each group comprises students from different backgrounds.

I hope these reasons might have cleared all the remaining doubts you had.

Can you explain the CAP process convened by IIM Rohtak?

VK
Vaibhav Kumar Posted On : January 10th, 2023
IPM from Indian Institute of Management Rohtak (Expected 2024)

Before explaining to you the CAP process convened by IIM Rohtak let’s discuss in brief what exactly CAP is.

CAP stands for Common Admission Process. It is a single admission process conducted by the following IIMs alternatively: IIM Ranchi, IIM Trichy, IIM Rohtak, IIM Raipur, IIM Udaipur, or IIM Kashipur. Under this process, the candidate has to give a WAT/PI(Written Ability Test/Personal Interview) process under CAP. All the member institutes will be given the scores of this test and based on their respective criteria, each institute will declare its own list of shortlisted candidates.

CAP process

Let’s discuss the various steps involved in this admission process

  • Fill in your choices of IIMs in the CAT form.
  • When CAT results are declared, the institutes under CAP make a shortlist based on their own criteria.
  • The IIM which is organizing the CAP that year collects the shortlisted candidates' names from other institutes and informs them about the CAP IIMs which have shortlisted them for WAT/PI.
  • The shortlisted candidates will have received a CAP link which they have to duly fill out. He will also be informed about the date and location of the CAP process.
  • On the stipulated date, the candidate will have to appear for the WAT/PI process.
  • All the institutes under CAP will receive the details of the score of this process and will release their own final shortlist.

Starting in 2018, every candidate has to appear for CAP irrespective of which IIM they belong to.

Which one should I choose: IIM Rohtak or IIM Raipur?

MJ
Manan Jain Posted On : February 16th, 2023
Head, Department of Business Management (1998–present)

All the new IIMs are currently in a similar position with one giving an edge to another in some or the other way. So you can join any. But if I was to choose one of the two i.eIIM Rohtak and IIM Raipur, I would have chosen IIM Rohtak. Some points that favor my choice are

  • The major reason why many choose Rohtak is because of the locational advantage it offers. Owing to regional industry coordination and NCR location it's better than other new IIMs
  • Among the new IIMs, it is the oldest. So the batch size is bigger and so is the alumni network.
  • Almost all the new IIMs function from a temporary campus and don’t have their own new campus. Meanwhile, IIM Rohtak is functioning from the MDU campus which is better than most campuses and has world-class facilities.
  • The institute specializes in Marketing and is a good choice for Marketing enthusiasts. Many good firms offer marketing roles.

Most of the people who are in a dilemma of choosing between these two IIMs already have offers from these. If you ask the alumni of both institutes which one is better, in 99% of cases they will claim that their institute is better. So it’s better to do individual research and make a choice based on your own inclinations and prospects.

Which one is better, SIBM Pune or the new IIMs like Raipur, Ranchi, Rohtak, Kashipur, Udaipur, and Trichy?

HN
Hardik Nagar Posted On : January 17th, 2023
MBA from Indian Institute of Management, Tiruchirappalli, Tamil Nadu, India (Graduated 2019)

All of the institutes you mentioned are on the same level. Ranchi and Trichy have a slight advantage. Furthermore, having an IIM brand never hurts. It all depends on personal preference; you may prefer SIBM Pune, which is also a very good institute, but some candidates leave MDI Gurgaon and NITIE for the newer IIMs.

Furthermore, a degree from a government institute is far superior to a degree from a private institute. The smaller batch size of new IIMs also facilitates placements. Examine each institute's faculty details, placement details, batch size, infrastructure, and so on, and make an informed decision.

How were your 2 years at IIM Rohtak?

SM
Saksham Malhotra Posted On : January 17th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Management Rohtak (Graduated 2018)

Here's what one of IIM Rohtak's students has to say about his two years there.

It all began with Aarambh. Then it just kept going. Classroom exercises, club and committee meetings, management summits, event planning activities, case discussions, last night studies, and sports activities are all part of the program. With so much going on, it's difficult to keep track of the tide.

There were both highs and lows. Those two years were a roller coaster ride of laughs, tears, sweat beads, hugs, and other emotions. It's amazing how a group of (almost) like-minded people transformed from friends to family.

Everyone played a role. Everyone contributed significantly to the batch's ecosystem in some way. Most importantly, everyone made life bearable. Those 20 months instilled in him a sense of responsibility for his job, family, and society as a whole. There were complications. There were disappointments. The journey was not easy. But it was a worthwhile journey, one that changed him for the better.

What is your review of the Indian Institute of Management Rohtak?

TJ
Tarun Jain Posted On : January 18th, 2023
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Rohtak (Graduated 2021)

IIM Rohtak provides a credible CRISIL audited report, is one of only four IIMs in the country that are CFA affiliated, benefits from its close proximity to the national capital, offers some of the best live projects from the Delhi NCR, has completed ten years, and is now eligible for all firms.

It has its own residential, lush green 200-acre campus in Management City, Sunaria, which provides the best diversity to recruiters and guarantees 100% placements for the batch. The big four actively recruit there, and it has world-class, digitally smart classrooms. It also has the highest faculty-to-student ratio and the greatest media reach of any CAP institute.

It has the best guest lecturers (OLA, Times of India, Paytm, Mattel, AT&T, Lenovo, Cognizant, Safexpress, CocaCola, etc), was the fastest-growing IIM under CAP, has one of the best placement pick-up ratios, follows case-based pedagogy like the old IIMs, offers the most analytics courses, and provides the perfect mix of cultural and academic diversity.

Are you in IIM Rohtak? If yes, could you please give me an idea about the kind of interview they take?

S
Sagardeep Posted On : January 17th, 2023
MBA from Indian Institute of Management Rohtak (Graduated 2022)

Here is the interview experience of one of the students from IIM Rohtak.

The first two minutes of the interview were conducted impromptu. She got the then-trending topic of the Sabarimala temple and women's participation in it. She'd done a lot of research on the subject, so she felt comfortable discussing the specifics. She remained objective and spoke about both opposing viewpoints. This section assisted her in becoming more comfortable with speaking and developing a consistent flow.

The interview portion began immediately after the extempore portion ended. One male and one female panelist were present. They scanned her file and inquired about her certificates for sports and extracurricular activities. The first two questions concerned her undergraduate studies. The following two questions were about the differences between digital and internet marketing.

The following two questions were lighter in nature. She was questioned regarding the state's greeting phrase, Punjab, as well as the number of districts and largest city in the state.

She had just graduated and had no prior work experience, so she brought along a creative or physical specimen to display as her finished product in the brief internships she completed concurrently with her graduation. The final query related to the concept of the inventive tool and its application within the company.

In addition, the interview provided her with the opportunity to tour the IIM Rohtak campus in all of its splendor.
