NIRF has ranked Thapar University 29th in the Engineering category. Whereas, LNMIIT Jaipur has been ranked 194 for B.Tech by NIRF. As Thapar university is among the finest universities for CSE in North India and LNMIIT Jaipur is an emerging college in the field of IT, these colleges are compared often. Given below is a brief comparison between the two institutes.
CSE at Thapar University
Thapar University final year students are required to spend a full six month semester in the industrial projects. It also arranges 6 weeks of summer training for students of various branches including CSE.
CSE at LNMIIT Jaipur
LNMIIT Jaipur provides opportunities for extensive research work. It also provides Summer internship programs. The programs are attended by students from IITs and NITs.
Although LNMIIT Jaipur has a lower course fee, in terms of placements, alumni network, coding culture Thapar University is better for CSE.
DTU B.Tech Mechanical Engineering stands out with its impressive faculty, rigorous curriculum, and top-notch placements, attracting big names like Google and Microsoft, with an average package of around 16 LPA. In contrast, Thapar University BE Computer Engineering has a solid reputation, but lacks the same level of industry connections and placement statistics. Campus life is vibrant at DTU with numerous fests and sports facilities, making it an overall enriching experience. If you’re aiming for high-paying placements and a dynamic campus life, DTU is the clear choice; however, if you prefer a more focused environment, Thapar could work for you.
Going for B.Tech Electrical Engineering in DTU or BE Electrical Engineering in Thapar University really boils down to ROI and overall value for money. DTU has a strong placement record with 96% students placed and top companies like Google offering hefty packages, making it a solid choice if you're aiming for a high-paying job right after college. However, Thapar’s curriculum seems well-structured, and while their placement stats aren't out yet, they’ve had good companies visiting. Regarding fees, DTU's tuition remains constant but other costs increase, whereas Thapar is expensive but has a decent fee hike policy. If you're looking for immediate job prospects and a vibrant campus life, DTU is the way to go, but if you're considering pursuing a master's and want a solid academic foundation, Thapar could be worth it.
In my view, DTU's B.Tech in Computer Engineering offers a significant edge over Thapar University's BE in Electronics & Communication Engineering, particularly in terms of placements and job prospects. DTU boasts a staggering placement rate of about 98%, with big names like Google and Samsung visiting, and the highest package reaching 82 LPA, which is quite impressive. On the other hand, while Thapar has a strong reputation, the placement stats and package figures weren't highlighted as prominently, suggesting it might not match DTU's allure for tech students. If you're keen on a career in tech and aiming for high packages, DTU is the better choice, but if you prefer a more balanced approach with a solid focus on electronics, Thapar could still be a good fit.
DTU's B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing has a promising curriculum and great internship opportunities, with companies like Google and Microsoft offering high stipends, which is a solid ROI considering the fees are around 10 lakh for the course. Thapar University's BE in Computer Science and Engineering also offers a similar fee structure, but the placement opportunities seem to heavily favor those with high CGPA, which can be a risk if you don't excel. Both colleges provide scholarships, but DTU's campus life and active societies add extra value. I’d recommend DTU if you want a strong tech presence and a broader range of internships, while Thapar might be better if you’re confident in your academics and want a more traditional CS degree.
I was in COBS at Thapar. The curriculum is better than CSE, and relevant subjects like Discrete Maths are taught from the first semester itself. The only downside is that there are only 65 students in the 2020 batch, so interaction with COE students was limited. In COE, the curriculum is outdated, and the strength is around 300, which makes it a bit challenging to achieve a good CGPA, but the academics are fairly easy! Also, there are no placement statistics for COBS since the branch was started in 2019.
One of my friends studied at LNMIIT, so I might be able to provide you some information about it.
CS at Thapar is combined with other courses, some of which are worthy while others are not. You have to choose the course which you are interested in. Depending on that you can opt for the college, be it Thapar or LNMIIT.
The infrastructure and facilities at LNMIIT are really good. Faculty members are enthusiastic about both academics and extracurriculars. They will guide you through every step. LNMIIT has a great coding culture. Also, you will have cooperative seniors.
| Categories | LNMIIT | Thapar | Nirma |
| Course Fee | 12.36 lakhs | 13.23 lakhs | 7.24 lakhs |
| Highest CTC | 22 LPA | 8-10 LPA | 12-16 LPA |
| Average CTC | 11 LPA | 6 LPA | 7-9 LPA |
| Recruiting Companies | TCS, CTS, Accenture, Capgemini, etc. | ZS Associates, Byju’s, TCS, ITC, etc. | Bosch, Havells, Honeywell, JP Morgan, etc. |
I am not well aware of Thapar, I can only say that the campus and course curriculum is more or less similar to LNMIIT, unlike Nirma which can be a bit different. So finally I will suggest you go for LNMIIT. Make Thapar your second choice as the quality of the branch varies. Lastly opt for Nirma if both do not work out.
