At the undergraduate level, aerospace engineering is quite similar across all the older IITs, though IIT Madras and IIT Kharagpur are often regarded as the top choices.
Therefore, when comparing Kharagpur, I would recommend opting for IIT Madras. Additionally, it's known that IIT Madras specializes in aerospace, while IIT Kharagpur focuses more on aeronautics (flight & aviation). Hope that's accurate! If not, feel free to correct me!
IIT Delhi’s B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering stands out for its cutting-edge curriculum and abundant internship opportunities with top tech companies like Amazon and Google, making it a fantastic choice for those interested in AI/ML and software development. In contrast, IIT Kharagpur’s B.Tech in Chemical Engineering offers a solid foundation but might not provide the same level of industry exposure or future growth potential in a rapidly evolving field. While both colleges boast excellent faculty and campus life, IIT Delhi edges ahead in terms of overall student experience and industry readiness. If you’re leaning towards tech and innovation, go for IIT Delhi; if you’re passionate about chemical engineering and its applications, IIT Kharagpur is a strong option too.
Both IIT Delhi and IIT Kharagpur have their unique strengths, but I feel IIT Delhi's Mechanical Engineering program might edge out slightly for a more well-rounded educational experience. The curriculum at IIT Delhi is comprehensive and keeps pace with industry needs, offering extensive hands-on learning opportunities. In terms of internships, IIT Delhi boasts a wider range of top-tier companies like Google and Amazon, which can significantly enhance your resume. However, IIT Kharagpur is also a reputable choice, especially if you're drawn to Electrical Engineering, as it has a strong technical foundation and good faculty. Ultimately, if you want a vibrant campus life with diverse opportunities, IIT Delhi could be the better pick, while IIT Kharagpur might be ideal if you're specifically passionate about Electrical Engineering and its applications.
IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Material Science Engineering offers a fun and engaging curriculum with a focus on modern techniques like machine learning, while IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering has a more traditional approach to its coursework. In terms of placements, IIT Delhi shines with an impressive 80% placement rate and top companies like Google and Amazon actively recruiting there, whereas IIT Kharagpur also performs well but hasn't matched that level yet. Campus life at both colleges is vibrant, but IIT Delhi seems to have a slight edge in student engagement through its clubs and societies.
Personally, I would choose IIT Delhi for its strong placement opportunities and dynamic learning environment, especially for those interested in cutting-edge technology and research. However, if you prefer a more classic engineering experience, IIT Kharagpur might be the better fit.
EE(P) at IIT Delhi generally has a higher closing rank than ECE at IIT Kharagpur. Here are a few reasons why EE(P) at IITD might be more appealing:
Overall, EE(P) at IITD is often seen as the more desirable option!
It really depends on what you want to pursue. If you’re leaning towards B.Tech, go for it! However, think carefully before considering a Ph.D. in this department. Here are some points to consider:
On the other hand, the KSBS (Biomedical Science) department has comparatively better funding, but the professors may not have as much expertise as those in DBEB. Additionally, life sciences research is happening in the SIER and CARE departments, which are newer and interdisciplinary.
Ultimately, it’s crucial to remember that the experience can vary significantly depending on individual professors, regardless of their departments. Please take this into account when making your decision!
IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Industrial & Production Engineering and IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Instrumentation Engineering both offer solid placements, but the financial aspect makes IIT Delhi a smarter choice for many. With an average package of 18 lakhs and over 90% placement rate, IIT Delhi seems to provide better ROI despite its higher fees. While IIT Kharagpur has good exposure and faculty, it lacks specific placement data, making it hard to gauge its financial benefits accurately. Scholarships at IIT Delhi can assist economically weaker sections, adding to its value.
If you're looking for strong placement prospects and the potential for higher earnings, IIT Delhi is the way to go; however, if a broader engineering discipline appeals to you and you're less concerned about immediate returns, IIT Kharagpur could still be a good fit.
IIT Delhi.
Reasons include better professors, the caliber of your future classmates, and placement opportunities (trust me, many multinational corporations like Samsung Korea and Rubrik U.S. don’t visit IIT Kharagpur, but they regularly come to IIT Delhi for internships and placements). There are also great opportunities for pursuing further studies at top-tier international universities.
Additionally, IIT Delhi is located in the heart of Delhi (specifically South Delhi) and is not far from the Delhi airport. There are plenty of restaurants, malls, theaters, and bars to enjoy on weekends.
In contrast, the nearest city to IIT Kharagpur is Kolkata, which is about 140 km away. The closest decent restaurant to IIT Kharagpur is a Domino’s outlet, and it doesn’t even deliver pizzas inside the campus.
I usually don’t put much stock in QS Rankings, but you can rely on them when they rank IIT Delhi higher than IIT Kharagpur.
Cheers!
IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Computer Science Engineering clearly stands out when it comes to placements, with tech giants like Amazon and Google actively recruiting students, while IIT Kharagpur's B.Tech in Naval Architecture & Ocean Engineering may not have the same level of tech industry exposure. However, IIT Kharagpur offers a unique niche, especially for those passionate about marine engineering. Both colleges boast excellent faculty and vibrant campus life, but IIT Delhi has a more robust curriculum focused on AI/ML, which aligns with current job market demands. If you're aiming for a career in tech, IIT Delhi would be my pick; if you're more inclined towards naval engineering, IIT Kharagpur could be the right choice.
