NIT Trichy for Civil Engineering and NIT Surathkal for Electronics & Communication both have their strengths, but when it comes to fees and ROI, NIT Trichy might be the smarter financial choice. NIT Trichy's placement stats show a 100% placement rate with an average package of 27.27 LPA, while NIT Surathkal has around 79.8% placement for Civil Engineering, which is decent but not as strong. The hostel and overall fees at NIT Trichy are also lower, and they offer several scholarships based on family income, making it more accessible. So, if you're looking for better placement opportunities and value for your money, NIT Trichy could be the way to go, especially if you're interested in Civil Engineering. However, if you’re passionate about ECE and can leverage internships well, NIT Surathkal is still a solid choice.

Which one should I opt for NIT Trichy B.Tech Civil Engineering or NIT Surathkal B.Tech Electrical and Electronics Engineering

GlassGuru Posted On : April 17th, 2026

The quality of professors here is very good. Their teaching methodology and behavior are commendable. Plus, there's renovation happening in the civil department, which is a positive sign.

However, when it comes to placements, civil engineering generally has lower placement rates everywhere. It often requires experience, higher degrees, and good contacts with contractors.

For placement factors, NIT Trichy is a solid choice since it is one of the best NITs. But if you consider all factors like beaches, professors, fests, and the department, NITK Civil could be a better option!

Which one should I opt for MNNIT Allahabad B.Tech Civil Engineering or NIT Surathkal B.Tech Electronics & Communication Engineering

DataDoubt Posted On : April 17th, 2026

In my experience, it's better to choose Civil Engineering at MNNIT Allahabad over Electronics & Communication Engineering at NIT Surathkal. However, select Civil Engineering only if you have a genuine interest in this field. If you are primarily focused on placements, be prepared to work hard, as fewer companies visit for campus placements in the civil stream. That said, MNNIT Allahabad has a better placement record for the Civil branch. Here are some reasons to consider Civil at MNNIT Allahabad:

  • There is an extremely competitive environment for exams like GATE, CAT, IES, UPSC, etc. This year has been outstanding for MNNITians, with AIR-1, AIR-2, and AIR-3 in GATE secured by students from MNNIT Allahabad.
  • There is a chance to change branches in the first year if your CPI is above 7.5, allowing you to switch streams if desired.
  • You can secure a good package here.
  • The labs are well-established and equipped.

This is just my perspective; others may have different opinions. So, before making a decision on any college and branch, do thorough research and prepare accordingly. Thanks!

I suggest you choose NIT Surathkal! The exposure you’ll get there is unmatched compared to NSUT. Here are a few points to consider:

  • 85% Attendance Criteria: NSUT has a strict 85% attendance requirement for Delhi students, which can limit opportunities.
  • More Opportunities: NIT Surathkal offers more chances for placements and internships than NSUT.

Ultimately, the decision is yours, but in my opinion, NIT Surathkal is the better choice!

Hi, It's great to see you're from UP! In my opinion, MNNIT Allahabad for Electrical Engineering would be the better choice because -

  • The Electrical branch is generally considered stronger than Civil (seriously).
  • Chemical Engineering from some colleges is excellent, but overall, it's not as competitive.
  • You can't switch branches easily; if you have an interest in CS, you can't pursue it simultaneously with Civil.
  • With Electrical, you can definitely collaborate with CSE students for internships and placements.

So overall, I recommend going for MNNIT Allahabad!

For Private Jobs: Choose Civil at NIT Surathkal. As an MNNITian, I can confidently say this. I know the ins and outs of my college, and I've seen students from NIT Surathkal land jobs in software multinationals or investment banks with lucrative packages.

If you're aiming for the Government Sector: Opt for Civil at MNNIT Allahabad. You won't find such exceptional faculty and competitive environment anywhere else. Civil students from MNNIT have secured 1st, 2nd, 4th, 6th, and 9th ranks in GATE when I entered the college. Can you believe it? Five MNNITians in the top 10! Most Mechanical and Civil aspirants here easily crack GATE or ESE due to the dedication and resources that MNNIT offers.

I'm currently studying at NITK, so I can share insights about the placement scenario here at NITK Surathkal. I can't provide details about MNNIT Allahabad since I haven't been there. Here's a summary of the placements from the last academic year:

  • CSE students saw an average package of around Rs. 13 lakh.
  • IT students had an average package close to Rs. 10 lakh.

This data excludes off-campus offers and a small percentage of students who choose to go abroad for further studies. Overall, the placement scenario is quite decent.

Hope this information helps! Best of luck for your future! :)

NIT Trichy for Civil Engineering and NIT Surathkal for Electrical and Electronics Engineering both present solid choices, but NIT Trichy offers a better financial return on investment. With a high placement rate of 100% and average packages around 27.27 LPA, it significantly outperforms NIT Surathkal, where only 79.8% of Civil Engineering students find placements. Additionally, NIT Trichy has a lower overall fee structure and various scholarships based on family income, making it a more affordable option. How do the placements really compare between NIT Trichy B.Tech Metallurgical and Materials Engineering and NIT Surathkal B.Tech Computational and Data Science?

VoidVisions Posted On : April 14th, 2026

NIT Trichy’s Metallurgical and Materials Engineering program offers a chill curriculum with a good faculty-student ratio, but the placement stats are pretty solid, with a highest package of 51 LPA and a placement percentage around 90%. In contrast, NIT Surathkal’s B.Tech in Computational and Data Science seems to attract top tech companies, likely due to the high demand for data skills, although specific placement figures weren’t mentioned. Both colleges have vibrant campus life and opportunities for internships, but if I had to choose, I'd lean towards NIT Surathkal for its relevance in today’s job market; it seems better suited for those aiming for tech giants. However, if you're more into materials and enjoy a relaxed pace, NIT Trichy could be your go-to.
