IET DAVV is one of the most prestigious and sought for engineering colleges in Central India. It is a very decent college when it comes to academics.

SGSITSoffers 14 undergraduate courses as well as 22 postgraduate courses in Engineering and Pharmacy. It is ranked among the top 30-40 national institutes which include IITs as well.

JEC Jabalpur offers Engineering courses in 7 fields and 9 postgraduate courses in various disciplines. Approximately 60 students/ teachers have been awarded a Ph.D. degree from this college.

  • IET DAVV and SGSITS, both provide 100% placement opportunities to its students.
  • Topcompanies visit the campuses every year. SGSITS witnessed participation from firms like Goldman Sachs, JK Cement, Mahindra & Mahindra, Snapdealwhile IET DAVV receives firms such as VMware, Accenture, Wipro, Cognizant, Tata Technologies, etc. Firms like IBM, Abode, etc., visit JEC Jabalpur every year.
  • As SGSITS is a very old and renowned college, it has an upper hand because of its humongous alumni network. No placement data is provided by IET DAVV, on the other hand.
  • JEC Jabalpur has an annual package of 7 lakh. When we talk about packages, it is as high as 30 lakh at IET DAVV and 22 lakh at SGSITS.

Fee Structure:

  • The average fee per year for JEC is Rs. 22,300while for IET DAVV and SGSITS, it is Rs. 70,863 per year. A huge difference is observed when the fee of both the colleges is compared with JEC.

Curriculum:

A number of professorsatSGSITS hold Ph.D.degrees from Tier 1 institutions like IITs or IISC while professors at IET DAVValso have great expertise in respective fields.Faculty is better at IET DAVV or SGSITS, as compared to JEC Jabalpur, and classes are held regularly as well.

The above explanation would be more or less helpful for the students. A lot of confusion penetrates the minds of students when it comes to choosing the appropriate college. When it comes to the ranking of colleges, SGSITS comes first, followed by IET DAVV and JEC for engineering respectively.

Is it possible for a student studying Mechanical Engineering at IIT Kharagpur to get placed in a decent coding company?

NG
Nikhil Goal Posted On : March 22nd, 2023
Mechanical Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur (IIT KGP)

Honestly, a true coding lover needs not to worry too much about placements. They should just be good in what they do and certainly, an opportunity will come their way.

Let’s explain this through an example of a friend who was a graduate of Industrial Engineering and Management, IIT Kharagpur, and is currently in Amazon as a Software Development Engineer.

Owing to his Industrial Background, he faced backlash initially and couldn’t sit for placements in big companies like Adobe, Google, Microsoft, and Goldman Sachs. He then came across a startup company - BankBazaar that visited the campus on the 2nd day of placements and also had a coding test. He passed the test with flying Colors and

for the first offer during that placement season.

Ever since then, he started receiving calls from top companies like Amazon, Google, Walmart Labs, etc. He soon joined Amazon and worked for a few years. Recently, he got a call from Goldman Sachs HR for the Goldman Sachs, Strategic Group. This came as a surprise since this company only prefers toppers from IITs and IIMs. It was his dream job to make mathematical models and program them. Fortunately, all his interviews went pretty well and in the end, he was introduced to the Managing Director of the Finance Division, at Goldman Sachs. who conducted a discussion on the projects he would be working on.

After experiencing almost 3 years in the Software Industry, my friend only advised coding lovers to focus solely on their passions and let the world find them.

Will a 760 score in the GMAT help me get into ISB Hyderabad?

DS
Divya Saraf Posted On : June 16th, 2023
Lives in Hyderabad

A GMAT score of 760 is considered very high and is in the top 1% of all aspirants. However, ISB Hyderabad is a highly selective institution, and your GMAT score alone is not enough to determine your eligibility to the institute. The institute has a reputation for accepting only the best and takes multiple factors into consideration while filtering the candidates. Some of these are work experience, academic profile, essays, interviews, and LORs also play a role in the admissions decision.

A 760 GMAT score will certainly be a strong asset in your application and increase your chances of admission but not the sole criterion.

Let me share my brother's experience that will make you understand better. He had the opportunity to attend ISB’s admission conference where he learned that the highest GMAT score was 760–780. He asked one of the faculty members the exact score that would guarantee a seat at ISB Hyderabad. He said that a score equal to their highest would guarantee it.

Surprisingly enough, my brother was able to score 760 and was called for an interview but failed to get admission. He went through the profiles of accepted candidates and realized the panelists preferred students with international experience.

So, it can be concluded that ISB never evaluates its candidates on the basis of just one parameter but a mix of them. You are expected to have a strong overall profile, a good academic record, relevant work experience, and a compelling story to tell in your essays and interviews.

Is BITS Pilani’ zero attendance policy really true?

DH
Damini Hedge Posted On : July 3rd, 2023
Studied at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani (2021)

Yes, I confirmed it with a friend and it appears that the zero attendance policy at BITS Pilani is true. My friend claimed that this policy helped her in many ways. She tried attending classes initially but failed to do so as she found them to be boring and monotonous. She however attended the lab sessions and some physics classes which she found to be very intriguing.

The only disadvantage she faced was the surprise tests which she would often miss because of not attending classes. The simple solution for this is to ask one of your friends who attends classes to inform you if they feel the professor is about to conduct tests. But some professors still did not let her give these tests so she had to solely rely on her mid-semester and final exams.

Overall, she has no regrets for skipping classes as she feels she did quite well even without them and also saved a lot of time in the process.

With a 30,000 rank which NIT can I get?

IT
Ishaan Thakkar Posted On : May 20th, 2021
ECE at NIT Rourkela (2018)

With a rank of 30,000, there is a fair chance of you getting into NIT Rourkela, most probably in a dual degree or an integrated M Sc course. Whereas out of the top 10-15, you can get a chance of getting a seat in Biotechnology or textile or production is possible.

Also, if you have a category rank of 30,000, I'm not sure if you can expect anything. This rank can also fetch you a good branch in the Northeastern NITs or in the NIT in your home state which is not likely if you are from Telangana. And maybe Andhra Pradesh's new NIT too. So you can look for that.
