I have converted to IIM Kashipur but already paid 1 term fee at IIM Sambalpur, with no refund. What should I do?
Go for it if you can afford to lose the money. If not, don't be disappointed. Just consider placements for the evaluation, as the location and life are both beautiful. Placements at IIM Kashipur have an obvious advantage, but only for the top 10% of the batch will it make a significant difference. Otherwise, you'll do well at both locations.
Furthermore, if you're looking for future entitlement, it makes little difference. IIM Kashipur is the newest, and IIM Sambalpur is the youngest. If you build a strong profile for yourself, the location between these two IIMs will not hold much value in the future. As a result, if you can afford to lose the money, do so without hesitation. If you can't afford to lose that money, forget it and you will have no regrets.
What if I convert IIMs but don't have enough money to pay the fees?
Trust me if you get into any IIM, banks will be after you to get loans from them. Banks consider an IIM student a good investment and therefore offer educational loans at a very low interest rate.
My uncle’s son had cleared CAT and got into IIM Calcutta. He got a loan from a bank at an extremely low interest rate. He had to deposit a demand draft of INR 3,23,050 at the time of the MBA registration process (second week of June). The rate of interest is 8.4%. After MBA, you will be in the 30% tax slab. The interest paid on an education loan is tax-deductible. So, your effective rate of interest is 8.4(1–0.3)=5.88%. This is the cheapest loan one can get in India. So it’s recommended that you take a loan even if you have money.
Banks like SBI, CBI, BOI, and PNB will give you loans as high as 30 lakhs without any collateral.
Apart from loans, IIM Calcutta also offers a lot of financial assistance to financially weak students. Need-based-scholarships are offered. IIM Calcutta provides Financial Assistance to students whose family income is less than 8 Lakhs.
Rather than worrying about money focus more on your goals and academics.
How good is GMP program of SPJIMR?

Is NCERT sufficient for AIIMS biology?
Yes, NCERT Biology is sufficient for the AIIMS entrance examination. The following points prove my point further
- Out of 40 MCQs, almost 30- 35 questions are from topics in the NCERT biology textbook.
- The questions related to diagrams in the AIIMS entrance exam are exactly the same as NCERT textbook diagrams.
- Logical reasoning questions are also usually from NCERT textbooks. All you need to do is read your text thoroughly while preparing for the test.
So, it can be safely concluded that NCERT books are more than sufficient for AIIMS. Almost 50–55 questions are from NCERT and with enough revision you will surely ace the exam.
How did you spend your last days at IIT Bombay?
Here is the experience of a student at IIT Bombay who has explained how he had spent his last days at IIT Bombay.
During the last 7 days, he experienced the most hectic and difficult days of his life at IIT. He was skipping almost a meal a day during those 7 days while developing a photobioreactor. This device converts sunlight into chemical energy using green algae which could be used for biodiesel and pharma-grade products. The experimental procedure was quite tedious and meticulous requiring measurement of 7 parameters every 4 hours, including the sweetest hours of sleep at 2 am and 6 am.
Testing all 7 parameters would take 1-2 hours, and he was left with just 2 hours before he took the next reading. He had failed numerous times in the process of building up this technology over the last year.
Whenever he failed, he would start all over again and wash the whole setup. After so many failures, he finally succeeded and was able to file a patent on the technology. Although those were the worst, hard, and most satisfying days of his life, he is happy today when he looks back, and that's all that matters in the end.

How do I get a transcript of WES Canada PR from IGNOU?
If you live in a metropolis, go to IGNOU and get an application form for transcripts; otherwise, they say the same is available on the IGNOU website, which you can download, fill out, and attach a photocopy of your consolidated marks sheets, graduation certificate, and a Demand draught as specified on the form. That's all. Courier it and wait for the transcripts, which will be sent to the registered address on file with ignou. IGNOU's support team is ineffective, failing to respond to phone calls or emails and refusing to send transcripts to the address provided on the application form. They will only deliver to the registered address. Depending on your luck, it could take 2 to 3 months.
Get the form, fill it out, attach your marks/grade sheet, and your degree/graduation certificate, and then go to the Delhi ignou examination center. Take a reference or confirmation slip and try to get the personal contact information of someone in the department, then follow up with him. It should be completed in 12-15 days. When you're ready, go personally to collect.
Contact the y-axis concierge service; the service will be charged to you (approx 10k). You should have it in 15-20 days. Basically, they will go with option 2 because they will have branches in almost every city in India.
Note that if you are an IHM student, you will also need NCHMCT Transcripts, which is a separate and relatively easier process.
PES University vs Manipal University main campus, which is the better college?
these are pretty different colleges in terms of environment, so it really depends what you value:
PES University (Bangalore):
- located in a major tech hub — Bangalore industry exposure is unmatched. tons of internship and networking opportunities just by being in the city
- strong for CSE/ECE. placements have improved significantly, good mix of startups and product companies
- most students are day-scholars from Karnataka/Bangalore — commuter college feel
- admission via PESSAT or JEE/KCET scores
MIT Manipal (Manipal University main campus):
- residential campus in a small coastal town (Udupi district). full campus life experience, everyone lives on campus
- very strong in CSE, ECE, Mechanical. good alumni network especially in Gulf and US
- diverse student body from all over India, strong cultural life
- fees are higher (~Rs.3-4L/year) but hostel+mess included makes the total cost manageable
which is better? if you want industry exposure + city life and are from South India — PES makes sense. if you want a complete campus experience with residential life, diverse peers, and strong alumni network — MIT Manipal is hard to beat. for non-CSE branches like Mech or ECE especially, Manipal's reputation is stronger nationally.
Should I go to BITS Pilani or Goa?
It depends on your preferences and interests; the key points listed below might help you get more clarification about both institutes
Branch – If you are into the software field, then choose Goa, which has a fantastic department in Computer Science and Electronics
Growth and Development – If you are a person who gives more importance to personal growth and strength, then BITS Pilani is for you. This institute has a fantastic student culture and gives more prominence to social interactions, which will definitely provide magnificent experiences and incredible college life.
Placement – BITS Pilani is comparatively more popular here than in Goa. Most of the students got placements from recruiters with decent salary packages.
So, it is safer to choose BITS Pilani than BITS Goa.
Does JNU have an LLB programme?
JNU doesn’t have a Law School or faculties for Law. Thus, it doesn’t offer an LLB or an LLM program.
The university only offers Bachelor’s programs in Foreign languages. However, JNU has two centers of International Legal Studies and Law & Governance that offer M.Phil and Ph.D programs.
