Both Miranda House and LSR are reputed colleges of DU, and have made significant contributions to women’s education in the country. You should choose one of these two colleges, based on the course of your choice. Miranda House is known for its science courses and LSR is the best college for arts.
MH and LSR offer unique campus life. If you want to experience the much-talked-about DU campus life, choose MH. You can gate-crash into fests and events of other colleges of DU. LSR is more posh, infrastructure-wise, and offers an enviable campus experience.

Here we are comparing a public institute with a private one, and therefore there will be areas in which IIT-H will hold a better rating than BITS-H and vice versa. Let’s see how both the colleges perform on various aspects-
NIRF Rankings- As per latest NIRF rankings, IIT Hyderabad has been ranked as the 8th best engineering college in India and the 22nd overall. While BITS Hyderabad has been ranked 30th for engineering and 27th overall.
Course Fee- IIT Hyderabad has comparatively lower fees for its courses than BITS-H, which is one of the benefits of a public institute and a private institute normally charges a high fee for its courses.
Infrastructure- BITS Hyderabad is the newest BITS Pilani campus and therefore provides well-furnished classrooms, modern laboratory equipment, and is a well-equipped one. While IIT Hyderabad also being a relatively newer IIT has good infrastructural facilities, but BITS-H definitely holds a stronger position in this aspect.
Placements-
IIT-H: As per the latest placement data of IIT-H, in 2020 the highest package received was 60.41LPA and the second phase is yet to be completed. IN 2018-19, IIT-H recorded the highest package of 53.80LPA and an average package of 18LPA. Some of the major companies visiting the college are Accenture, Bank Of America, ISRO, Qualcomm, Infosys, Cap Gemini, Amazon, and many more.
BITS-H: As per the 2016-18 data, around 94% of the total students get placed every year. The maximum salary offered has been 14LPA, 3.6LPA being the minimum, and 5LPA being the average. Around 200 companies visit the college every year for recruiting the students. IBM, ICICI, Ola, TCS, Intel, Flipkart, Facebook, KPMG, L&T, Amazon, and many more are some of the top recruiters in the college.
So, both the colleges have advantage over the other in some aspects but both are good and well-recognised institutes of the country. An admission in any of the two would not be a bad investment and you should make your choice as per your suitability and resources.
IIM Lucknow and TISS HRM are different in terms of course structure and placements. TISS HRM offers better placements in human resource management. Whereas IIM Lucknow provides better jobs in various fields like marketing, finance, general management, consulting, etc.
Specialization - HR:
If HR is your first priority, then go for TISS.
Deciding Factors:
One must take into account his/her aims and goals, before choosing between these two colleges. The following factors must be taken into consideration while choosing.
MBA in HR is a specialized degree thus, you may not be able to go to other fields with this degree later in your career. So, take all these factors into consideration before choosing an institute among these two.
There is no discernible difference.
1-The faculty levels on both campuses are the same. Teachers on the south campus are more helpful and friendly, but there are a few good teachers on the north campus as well.
2-When it comes to PG or food, the South campus is far too cheap. In the south, one can find very good affordable accommodation. North is a little pricey because there are too many colleges, which increases the demand for goods and pgs, and thus prices.
3-The crowd in each college is nearly mixed and uniform. Although the north campus receives more applications from students from UP, Bihar, Haryana, and Rajasthan because it is overrated and hyped among people, all mostly SC, ST, and OBC, sports quota, and ECA quota students go there if they get it anyhow.
4-Colleges do not provide degrees; DU does. So, regardless of which college you attend, you will receive the same degree.
5-Placements- this is an extremely important factor. The majority of placements are reserved for Bcom and Economics Honours students. Placements are available at LSR, SRCC, Hindu, Venky, Hansraj, KMC, and Ramjas, but only for Bcom or Economics students. Other department students may be offered the internship, but the pay is insufficient.
6- Restrooms and drinking water- The restrooms in each college are clean and well-maintained. Clean and sanitary. However, if you drink a lot of water, you should only go to North Campus if you can buy a bottle for each day because the water there is too salty.
Choosing between colleges requires evaluating multiple factors aligned with your career goals and personal preferences.
Key comparison points:
Visit campuses, talk to current students, and review official placement reports. Your decision should balance academic quality, career prospects, and personal comfort.
Making a decision about a school is similar to creating a regression model, where the features serve as the parameters and the coefficients represent the students' preferences.
Batch size: The placement at XLRI Delhi is combined with the JSR batch. As a result, the combined batch size (XLRI JSR BM + XLRI JSR HR + XLRI Delhi BM) is quite large but still significantly smaller than IIM Lucknow. FMS is the clear winner in terms of batch size. As a result, FMS > XLRI > IIML.
Group of peers: This is a highly debatable and relative parameter. XLRI has no reservations, and some argue that people are chosen solely on merit, whereas FMS and IIML have more than 50% reservations. As a result, a better crowd.
The CAT score: It is extremely important to FMS. You'll mostly find a more educated crowd there. IIM Lucknow has very diverse selection criteria, similar to IIM Bangalore. In their selection criteria, they consider gender and academic diversity, previous academic records, work experience, and so on, ensuring a consistent and diverse crowd. Now it all comes down to personal preference, FMS > IIML > XLRI.
Tag: IIM Lucknow has an old IIM tag and is well-known worldwide. XLRI and FMS are both very old institutes with strong brand identities. Personal preference once again. IIM > XLRI > FMS.
Campus Life: FMS has no hostels and a very small campus. You're basically a day student there. IIML = XLRI > FMS.
Finance: Lucknow has more financial opportunities than the other two in terms of profiles available and companies visiting campus. FMS >= IIML.
Comparing XLRI and IIM Lucknow in terms of placements can be difficult unless you have personally gone through the process at either institution. Both institutions have a variety of firms that come to recruit from them. However, it depends on your career aspirations and interests. If your focus is on HR, XLRI is the better option. However, if your interests lie in other areas such as marketing and finance, IIM Lucknow may be a better fit as it has more firms that regularly visit across these domains, particularly in consulting.
In terms of infrastructure, IIM Lucknow has better on-campus facilities for both recreation and academics. However, it is worth noting that the infrastructure at both institutions should not present significant problems.
Finally, when considering the alumni network, the IIM tag opens more doors. XLRI is a well-respected brand, but the sheer number of IIM Lucknow alumni in the job market makes it stand out.
In conclusion, the decision between XLRI and IIM Lucknow largely depends on whether or not you want to study HR. If you do, XLRI is the better option, otherwise, IIM Lucknow is a better choice in terms of placements, infrastructure, and alumni network.
If you're considering Jadavpur University (JU) or BITS Pilani for computer science engineering (CSE), you're in luck, as both are top-notch institutes in India that are giving even the best IITs a run for their money (excluding the lower IITs).
Here are some affirmative statements to consider:
Ultimately, the decision of which college to attend is a personal one that should be based on a variety of factors. Do your research, talk to current students and alumni, and make a decision that aligns with your goals and values.
VIT Vellore is better. It is among the top engineering colleges in the region. It has a wonderful campus, good infrastructure, and a decent placement record. The departmental laboratories are well-equipped with rare equipment such as AFM, STEM, XRD, etc. VIT has a digital library with a huge collection.
The highest CTC offered during VIT Vellore placements 2022 was INR 75 LPA. Paypal, DE Shaw, and Dyte were some of the major recruiters to take part in the placement drive. The placements are especially good for branches such as CS, ECE, IT, Mechanical, etc.
