Tamil Nadu Open University the first Open University of Chennai located in the capital of the state of Tamil Nadu. The courses offered by University are recognized by UGC, NCTE, RCI, and DEB. The University specializes in UG and PG programs and offers Certificate and Vocational courses to the candidates alongside full-fledged courses with 218 programs in various disciplines.

Faculty members at the college are fairly good and highly knowledgeable. All of them are very fluent in English and the local language Tamil. They always try to attend to each student separately and clear their doubts.

Apart from a good academic record, the institute has a decent placement record. The highest CTC offered is around INR 25,000 per month and the placement details of the institute are as follows.

Placements:

• TNOU offers a variety of Seminars, Guest Lectures, webinars, Conferences, Corporate Meets, Personality Development & Communication Skills Programs, and Counselling Sessions to prepare the candidates before the placements drive.

• Till now TNOU has successfully placed 60,000 students and has been continuously working to bring placement opportunities for the scholars.

• Tamilnadu Open University has a student placement cell and about 80% of the students were placed from the college in the topmost companies.

• The salary packages offered to the students ranged between rupees 15000-25000 per month.

• Companies like TCS, Accenture, and some IT companies visit the college for an internship and placement.

• About 40% of the students got an internship.

The infrastructure of the college is fairly good and the college has a top-class library and facilities like canteens and big classrooms. The library is well-stocked with lots of subject-oriented books and journals.

NIT Surathkal, formerly called Karnataka Regional Engineering College(KREC), located in Mangalore is an amalgamation of 13 departments, 1 school, 12 supporting centers, and 245 eminent dedicated faculty members. NIT Surathkal is ranked 13th in Engineering by and 33rd overall by NIRF 2020. MNNIT, Allahabad is a UGC and AICTE approved institute and has been ranked 14th by India Today 2020.

Admission to IT at NIT Surathkal and CSE at MNNIT is done through scores obtained in the JEE Mains entrance test and percentage in 10+2.

Placement:

NIT Surathkal:

It witnessed 100% placement in B.Tech and 79% in M.Tech during the batch of 2019.

• The highest package offered in the B.Tech program was 39 LPA while at M.Tech it was 18.75LPA.

• In the year 2018, more than 92% of the students were placed with the participation of more than 250 companies in the placement drive.

• Top recruiters at NIT Surathkal are Amazon, Honeywell, Axis Bank, Philips, Qualcomm, Bajaj, Samsung, Dell, Deloitte, Caterpillar, etc.

MNNIT Allahabad:

In the 2019 placement drive at MNNIT Allahabad, 1174 students participated out of which 792 students were placed.

• The highest CTC offered was 36 LPA with Accenture being the prominent recruiter.

• At MNNIT Allahabad, the B.Tech CSE batch of 2019 witnessed the highest recruitment with 163 students being placed out of 167. In terms of M.Tech, 84 students were placed out of 320 who participated in the placement drive.

• Some of the major recruiters at MNNIT Allahabad are Adobe, American Express, DRDO, Berger Paints, Coal India, CISCO, Bajaj Auto, eBay, etc.

Environment:

Both the institutes offer decent academic environments.

NIT Surathkal:

• IT laboratory at NIT Surathkal is equipped with 150 High-End Desktops with i7 processor, 50 Pentium IV Computers, 43 Workstations, 15 IBM and 35 HP Pentium III Desktops, IBM Power 7 Virtualization Server, 2 CUDA Servers for High-Performance Computing, Rational Rose Suite, Microsoft Kinect for Xbox 360, MEMSIC Wireless Sensor Network, etc.

MNNIT Allahabad:

CSE department of MNNIT is equipped with internet connectivity of 10.5 Gbps supported through Optical fiber, 104 HP Compaq Elite 8300, 2 IBM Blade Server, 48 HP 406 G1 MT Business PCs, IBM SAN Storage, etc.

Both the universities are of high repute, offering quality education and high placement drive.

IIT Bhubaneswar stands out among the second generation IITs both in terms of academics and placement. According to NIRF Ranking 2020, IIT Bhubaneswar was ranked 22nd among the engineering colleges of India.

Dual Degree in CSE from IIT Bhubaneswar provides students with both BTech and MTech degrees. The course duration is 5 years and dual degrees are mostly preferred by students who want to do research-based studies and further engage in academics.

CSE department at IIT Bhubaneswar had a 100% placement rate in 2019. The top recruiters include Amazon, HCL, IBM, Infosys, Samsung Electronics India, DRDO, Accenture, WIPRO, OYO, Adobe, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Samsung, Microsoft, Deloitte, INTEL technology, etc. The students received an average salary package of 11 lakhs per annum and the highest package offered was around 39 lakhs per annum.

The institute also collaborates with foreign universities such as the University of Warwick, University of Southampton, University of Massachusetts Dartmouth, University of Western Ontario, University of New York, University of North Dakota USA, and McGill University. Which gives the students good research and internship opportunities.

CSE from IIT Bhubaneswar is a very good choice for the students who want to make their career in IT and Programming.

Heritage Institute of Technology is the best private college in Kolkata with good campus life. A senior of mine is an alumnus of the college and he always speaks about its infrastructure, placements, and campus facilities.

• Location: - It is located near the prime market of Kolkata making it well connected to communication services.
• Fees: - The fess has been increased slightly but if admission is granted you’re are eligible to apply for a study loan
• Labs: - All the facilities and the technologies in the lab are up to date and well equipped for ease of handling by the students.
• Professors: - all the professors are highly experienced, some with a Ph.D. degree, and they are well known and acknowledged in society.
• Library: - Fully stacked with books, articles, research papers and has access to many foreign libraries accessing outside files.

Placements: - 

The campus has a huge ground and it also has a large pond. It has a very well-maintained infrastructure. They also provide students with all the necessary facilities. The canteen serves very well but it is really expensive. But overall it is manageable for students.

I have a few friends from the National Power Training Institute (NPTI). Based on the conversations I had with them, I can give you some insight regarding the institute. 

• NPTI is started by the Power Ministry of Government of India and a student from there can get jobs at thermal power plants or related sectors such as distribution, boiler manufacturing, etc. 
• However, in recent years, the government has started pushing renewable energy aggressively and newer thermal power plants are not coming up at the same pace as they used to a few years back. This narrows down your scope of placement after studies.

So choose the course you want to do keeping your interests in mind along with the future scope of the industry in consideration.
