What are the college timings for an MMS course at JBIMS and Sydenham?

BR
Biswadip Roy Posted On : February 20th, 2023
Studied Finance at Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies

Any typical day at JBIMS depends on your workload and the ongoing semester. The duration of lectures is 3 hours with a small break. The lectures take place in the following shifts

  • 7 am-10 am
  • 2 pm-5 pm
  • 6:30 pm-9 pm

There might be one, two, or three lectures depending on your course. Another set of events that constitute a major part of your day is committee-related events like competitions. Apart from that you are always busy preparing for your presentations and assignments. Attending guest lectures is mandatory and no one can evade them.

The first semester is the busiest as it’s packed with induction, committee election, summer placements, and lectures. You won’t be able to sleep more than 4-5 hours a day and then soon adapt to the strenuous college life.

How is the campus life of BITS Pilani main campus when we compare it with IIT Delhi?

DR
Deepshikha Roy Posted On : April 1st, 2023
studied at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani

BITS Pilani is known for its huge and impressive campus and its beautiful infrastructure combined with top-quality education attracts many aspirants. There are some valid reasons I am stating as to why one should choose BITS Pilani over IIT Delhi

  • There are no compulsory attendance rules which give you enough freedom to prioritize things and manage your time well
  • The timetable is rather flow-like as it’s designed by the students itself and there are some additional electives apart from Engineering subjects to break the monotony.
  • An excellent campus with top-notch infrastructural facilities makes the learning experience more comfortable for the students.
  • BITS Pilani offers single rooms to its students from the second year itself giving the students a private dove to function well
  • The school lays great emphasis on transforming theoretical knowledge into practice through compulsory internships which are a brilliant experience.

All these reasons convinced my sister to join BITS Pilani and today she is glad she took the decision.

Is IIT Mandi the most beautiful IIt campus?

AP
Arjun Purohit Posted On : April 13th, 2022
B.Tech Electrical Engineering, Indian Institute of Technology, Mandi (2022)

IIT Mandi isn’t necessarily the most beautiful IIT campus. The campus is certainly picturesque and unique. It is essentially a valley surrounded by mountains. The most unique feature of the campus is the Uhl river that flows through the campus.

Tourist places like Kullu-Manali, Prashar, and Rewalsar lakes are just a few hours drive away from the campus.

Weather at Mandi stays pleasant throughout the year. During summer temperature ranges between 25-30 degrees while during winter the minimum temptation is 0.

If you like to travel, you will love this place.

What's it like to be a postgraduate student in NIMHANS?

PS
Pritha Sen, Posted On : November 2nd, 2021
PhD in Neurophysiology, National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (2016)

One of my friends was a student from an electronics engineering background who took Neuroscience for M.Phil. A lot of people have questioned his choice, but he said that it was a good decision and enjoyed learning about the course. Let me share his experience.

  • He, including all other students, was posted in a new department every month. His first posting was in Human Genetics.
  • They used to have a lecture series, starting with the History of Genetics, Basic Readings, Hot Research Topics, etc. This was followed by practicals with hands-on training.
  • They attended all the seminars, journal club, viva, or thesis defenses happening in the department.
  • Towards the end of their one-month posting; they have to present a seminar, submit an assignment, and take an internal exam.
  • They also interact with the Ph.D. students to get an overview of research carried out in each department.
  • The course was designed in such a way that full freedom is given to learning.

If you do not study and follow properly, it becomes difficult. He was content with his choice, stating that it is hard work that only matters. Except for the MD courses and nursing specialties all the courses here at NIMHANS are super specialties and research degrees (Ph.D./MPhil).

  • The faculties at the Psychology department are wise, excellent, incredibly fun, and probably become best friends by the end of graduation.
  • The faculties are very encouraging of sports and all other extra-curricular activities.
  • They also have a bunch of exciting credit and certificate courses to choose from. There are baking, aerobics, human rights, life skills, etc.

Various cultural events take place in the college. It is an all-girls college, thus the girls feel very comfortable on the campus. There is a lot to learn here, so go for it without any hesitation.

What is the first experience of BHU (Banaras Hindu University)?

PS
Pawan Sharma Posted On : November 18th, 2022
BSc from Banaras Hindu University (Graduated 2018)

My friend had a fairly good experience at BHU. She had switched her stream to Arts from BTech so she did not expect much. However, as time passed she realized her decision was worthwhile

Some common pros and cons she experienced at BHU are:

Pros-

  • Improved in academics

  • She was able to crack ALP technician CBT-1 because of excess free time

  • Started pursuing her photography skills

  • Travelled with her savings as fees were very less

  • Started writing poetries

  • worked on two projects & developed my own website

Cons-

  • Became a victim of society's taunts that I could not pursue BTech so opted for Arts.

My friend’s experience signifies how life at BHU can change you and your dreams easily.

What kind of hardships do students suffer in top law colleges like NLSIU, Nalsar or NUJS?

SS
Shaoni Sengupta, Posted On : October 25th, 2021
B.A.L.L.B. from West Bengal National University of Juridical Sciences, Kolkata (2022)

One of my friends studied at NUJS. According to her, hardships have varied reasons from academics to personal.

  • The Cases/readings are worth easily 500 pages every day, preparing summaries/case briefs, Tutorials and then projects, presentations, vivas, and the tiring final semesters all comprise the academic hardships.
  • Due to internships, you will miss your vacations. Internships are a temporary glimpse into what life will be like.
  • After getting the grind to excel and to get placed / PPOs, some students suffer from existential crises, emotional upheavals, urge for infinite sabbaticals, etc.
  • The burden of studies and placements takes a toll on your personal life.
  • Case briefs become a reason for discord rather than unity.
  • The healthy competition suddenly gets replaced by a rat race.

Lastly, all the things like hobbies, extra-curricular, etc. disappear. But even after all the hardships, it still is the best time of a student’s life at NLSIU.
