In my opinion, M.Tech in CSE from IIIT Hyderabad is way better than the M.E. Software System from BITS Pilani. Honestly, both the colleges are good so my comparison is only on the basis of the courses. Consider the following points of comparison
In the end, I will say both IIIT Hyderabad and BITS are excellent institutes for CSE education and offer equally good placements. So priority should be given to the course and not the college!
Comparing colleges can be done based on several factors. To many a few
So, the ultimate decision depends on your personal preferences!
I don't think there are many who would consider dropping a highly-regarded institute like BITS Pilani for a new IIT like IIT Ropar. I know a friend who had a very low JEE rank and was on the verge of taking a drop when he decided to take BITSAT. The reason he suddenly changed his mind was a discussion with someone at BITS Pilani. He told him about the benefits of the institute which convinced my friend that he would be getting a great opportunity except for the IIT tag.
Luckily, he got 323 marks in BITSAT and two branches in the Pilani Campus - BE in ENI and M.Sc. in Economics. He went for Economics and miraculously scored 8.5 CG in the first year and eventually cleared the cut-off for a dual with CSE.
He finally got CSE, and that too at such a prestigious college. The experience humbles him and he does not regret getting a low JEE rank at all.
No, at BITS Pilani candidates are not given scholarships based on BITSAT score but at BITS, Dubai the scholarships are offered based on the BITSAT score. It is to be noted that the scholarship based on the BITSAT score can be availed only in the first year of the entire academic session at the Dubai campus. To get the scholarship based on the BITSAT score, students must have scored a minimum of 200 marks in the exam.
The detailed bifurcation of the score vs percentage relaxation on tuition fee is given below.
BITSAT Score |
Scholarship |
≥ 300 |
75% of Tuition Fee* |
250 to 299 |
50% of Tuition Fee* |
200 to 249 |
25% of Tuition Fee* |
Scholarships Offered at BITS Pilani:
Government Scholarship: The NTSE and KVPY scholarship by the government are available only for M.Sc. students.
Merit-Based Scholarship: This type of scholarship is purely based on the candidate's performance in the semester exam. Based on the CGPA, students get % relaxation in the tuition fee. The % relaxation may vary year after year.
The detailed bifurcation of the scholarship is given below.
Merit cum Need-Based Scholarship: Based on the student’s performance in the semester and their parental income, a certain part of the tuition fee is relaxed. The relaxation percentage changes year after year.
These are the scholarships provided by BITS Pilani, for more details check the official website.
You are perhaps going for one of the most difficult streams of M.Sc, which is, of course, Maths. Few of my friends are studying there and as they have mentioned, by the time you reach your third year, one of the subjects in Maths would have a good number of theorems.
The next thing you would have is coordinate geometry as a part of your Maths 1. This would come in handy while solving double/triple integrations.
However, this is still the base of things. It gets complicated ahead- although, not sure if that would be in the third year essentially. Perhaps for better clarity, you should try and reach out to someone who is actually doing his/her M.Sc from BITS Pilani
My friends mentioned that students who are carrying along two degrees at the same time have CS as their ultimate aim. There were a few friends of mine who with a double degree, either ended up slogging into semesters, achieved CS with hardly any effort, and eventually, some of them had to choose chemical/civil out of sheer compulsion.
I would always recommend you to go for BITS Pilani EEE over IIT BHU Mechanical. Here are a few points justifying my stance.
Academics: BITS Pilani EEE curriculum is modern and as per industry standards. The branch has a highly qualified pool of professors who make use of modern teaching methodologies and conduct lively sessions. the number of top-tier MS in EE, the infrastructure, and top-notch placements all prove the same. The infrastructure at IIT BHU is deteriorating and the labs are equipped with obsolete instruments bringing down the academic quality of the institute.
Network: BITS has a very elaborate alumni network and gives an edge to IIT BHU.The BITS network (BITSAA) is very well organized and the close-knit nature of the BITSian community is rarely matched by IITs.
Brand: Society in general considers the IIT tag to be of superior quality whereas the recruiters and top universities are aware of the BITS influence and thus it enjoys an equally good brand name. Moreover, the IIT branch seems to have diluted with the increase in batch size and the opening of new IITs. The top recruiters know the difference between old and new IITs and thus the packages offered are different. BITS is known for its cutting-edge infrastructure and no-reservation policy.
Overall, BITS is the best option for you!
If you are an undergraduate student at BITS Pilani who is interested in studying abroad, it is important to understand that not all universities offer this opportunity to their students. Even IITs, which are known for their international research collaborations, do not send all undergraduate students abroad. Here are some key points to keep in mind:
While some students may have more opportunities than others when it comes to studying abroad or pursuing research internships, this should not discourage you from pursuing your goals. By focusing on your academic achievements, building your network, and taking advantage of the resources available to you, you can increase your chances of success and achieve your dreams of studying abroad.
Data science courses from BITS Pilani are highly regarded for their comprehensive curriculum and academic support. I have done the course and as per my experience, I would recommend it to aspiring data scientists looking to learn the basics of data science. It holds a significant value both in terms of money and time.
The best option among the options you mentioned is BITS Pilani- Dual degree with Maths. This is because, with a good CGPA, you can even get into Computer Science there. Moreover, Mathematics is the foundation of Computer Science and all major coding problems. This excellent combination will help you open multiple doors for higher education.
BITS Pilani is one of the best engineering colleges in India. It’s known for its excellent curriculum, faculty, lab facilities, and amazing campus. Moreover, BITS Pilani follows the GPA system which puts you at a certain level of advantage for pursuing higher studies, especially at foreign universities.
The only major advantage of BITS is its location and high fees. Students from Delhi might find it difficult to adjust here. So unless you have no problem with the location and financial constraints, choose BITS. Else, NITS is also a good option.
