BMS Institute of Technology and Management (BMSIT) is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi. It is ranked 169 for BTech by NIRF 2020. It is set by BMS Educational Trust and is recognized by AICTE and NBA. They have 162 faculty members. 

Acharya Institute of Technology (AIT) is affiliated to Visvesvaraya Technological University, Belagavi with a faculty strength of 300 members. The student population is 4,432 across all the departments. It is an autonomous institution recognized by UGC and AICTE.

• CSE graduates can work as System Database Administrator, Computer Programmer, Engineering Support Specialist, Software Developer, Software Engineer, Lecturer or Professor, Computer Operator, Research Analyst, etc.

• They provide separate boys and girls hostels.
• Their food court can accomodate 200 students at a time.

AIT

• Their campus area is 120 acres.
• They have 12 hostels, 5 for boys 7 for girls accommodating 1500 students all over.

CSE will be a better choice than Telecommunication Engineering because there is a constant demand for computer engineers in today’s rapidly growing corporate industry. CSE is the most in demand engineering course. Due to its scope and popularity it is better to choose CSE for moving your career ahead. But students interested in pursuing Telecommunication Engineering can always go for that.

For an Institute like NIT Raipur, both the branches of electrical or electronics telecommunication are worth taking. Below mentioned are some points about the branches which may help you in making a decision. 

• Both branches hold good placement statistics. Core companies usually opt for the electrical branch students while software-based companies go for the students of the electronics and telecommunication branch.
• The Department of Electrical branch has a decent reputation in college as this is a core branch which follows all the discipline and regulations.
• IES is open for the students for both the branches and thus choosing any one branch is no less than the other.
• When it comes to academics and scoring well; the students of both branches are exceptionally good. Ms. Jaya Jha from the Electrical branch and Mr. Shivam Singh of Electronics and Telecommunications bagged AIR-1 in Graduate Aptitude Test.

You can’t go wrong with any of these two choices, so choose the branch that interests you more.

If finances are an issue, then BITS Goa isn’t the right place to go unless you come under the EWS category (total family income less than 11 LPA).

BITS Goa is one of the most expensive engineering colleges in India. A B.E degree can end up costing about 19 to 20 lakhs for 4 years and an M.Sc degree about 19 lakhs. If you are from general category, BITS Goa will dent your wallet for the next few years.

Besides being one of the best engineering NITs in the country, the fees for NIT Calicut are much, much lighter around 5.5 lakhs for 4 years. Getting a Circuit branch is no easy task as the cutoffs are pretty high. If you’re getting ECE here, and money is an issue, then this is the place to go.

Although, if you’re under the EWS section, BITS Goa will offer scholarships based on your performance in the first year. If you’re able to obtain a CGPA of 8.5+, then a scholarship of 80% is awarded. For a CGPA of 7.5, a scholarship of 40% is awarded, and so on. 

Pandit Deendayal Petroleum University (PDPU) is one of the renowned private universities located in Gandhinagar. PDPU operates through four schools namely the School of petroleum engineering, the School of petroleum technology, the School of Technology, and the School of liberal studies. It offers a BTech in Electrical Engineering. The admission is through JEE Mains.

The LNMIIT Institute at Jaipur, Rajasthan was established with a single branch of communication and computer engineering. Now it has been converted into a deemed university in collaboration with the Government of Rajasthan. The admission to the BTech Electronics and Communication Engineering is through JEE Mains.

Course Fee:

• PDPU charges 9.73 lakhs for BTech Electrical Engineering.

• LNMIIT offers a BTech program with a course fee of 14 lakhs.

PDPU:

• The teaching quality is great at PDPU and the course curriculum is updated.

• Students get to learn about the recent advances in the field of technology from frequent industrial visits which is one of the advantages.

LNMIIT:

PDPU:

• Top companies like Honeywell, UOP, L&T technology services, torrent Power, Jubilant life sciences, Byju's, torrent gas, Shell, Adani power, Coromandel international, and many more companies are some of the top recruiters to participate in PDPU’s placement.

• About 65% of the students got placed from the college with the highest salary INR 10 lacs per annum.

LNMIIT:

• LNMIIT has a very active training and placement cell that operates around the clock for finding internships and job opportunities for the students.

• In the 2020 placement session, 92% placement record was recorded with the highest salary package ranging around INR 58.9 lakh per annum and median salary package around INR 10 lacs per annum.

Infrastructure:

PDPU:

• Campus facilities at PDPU are GREAT. All labs are well equipped with Wi-Fi and well organized and updated.

• Indoor sports like chess and carrom are available for students interested in them.

LNMIIT:

• The infrastructure at LNMIIT is very good. Labs, lecture halls, and rooms are well-furnished with advanced technologies and are air-conditioned.

Institute of Technology, Nirma university holds rank #10 for private engineering by Times. The admission process for both courses is almost similar based on Merit and JEE. The placement of the university is also quite good in comparison to other colleges.

Admission process:

• The admission process is fully online with an application fee of 1500 INR.
• Admissions for both the programs are based on the results of the Gujarat Common Entrance Test (GUJCET)and JEE Mains followed by interviews and counseling.
• With this, students also must have at least 45% in 12th board with required subjects.

Placements

• Both courses have the same placement rate. Companies like Accenture, CMC, Cognizant, DeloitteConsulting, Eicher Motors, etc visit campus in search of good placements.
• The average salary package offered to students is 4.1 lakhs and the highest package is offered up to 20 lakhs.

The university is known for its huge campus and beautiful infrastructure. The faculty is also well-experienced.

Both the courses are equally good. Admission process, placement rate fees are almost similar for both. University has a huge campus with good facilities. The environment is very friendly and engaging for students. Overall there is no harm in choosing any course.

My brother had the option of VIT for CSE on merit still he chose PEC metallurgy. There are various reasons as to why he took that decision:

• VIT is more expensive. Even if he had gone on merit, it would have cost him much more than PEC.
• Placements in core companies in ECE are negligible. You can sit for IT companies, but they pay less to ECE undergraduates than CSE counterparts.
• If you are a north Indian, culturally VIT might be different and might take time to adjust.
• Metallurgy is an undervalued branch in India; many of my seniors are pursuing MS from Germany, the United States, and France, and some have gone to IIMs and FMS with strong credentials.
• One of our seniors received a PPO of 15 lakhs, which is more than many students from elite branches.
• You can choose to upgrade, but you'll quickly realize that it's not that simple because the grading criteria favors those who are less deserving (no offense).
• Whether you accept it or not, those who claim that placement in metallurgy is poor (as it is in all branches except CS/IT) are correct. Placements in the core are hard to come by.
• Only 4000 people in GATE are from metallurgy, whereas there are 1.8 lakh from CSE and 2.1 lakh from Mechanical, implying that the probability of you getting a PSU is greater than that of a mechanical engineer.

I personally believe VIT is overrated because a friend who did not even pass mains received 2000 AIR in VITEEE. In the CBSE 2016 boards, he scored 78 percent, which was below average.
