What is the worst thing about IIM Calcutta?

SJ
Siddhesh Joglekar Posted On : November 28th, 2022
MBA in Finance and Marketing, Indian Institute of Management Calcutta (Graduated 2011)

One lesser-known fact about IIM Calcutta is the unhygienic conditions caused by the dirty lakes surrounding it. Mostly this truth is underestimated. But the reality is the pictures of the lakes at IIM Calcutta are misleading. They are nothing near surreal or beautiful. If anything they are the brooding ground of mosquitoes. Snakes and other poisonous creatures are also present here. Anyone who comes in contact with its water is bound to get skin infection or other ailments.

These lakes have been used as a marketing element for IIM Calcutta and it’s shocking that people believe such lies.

Pros:

Is studying law at NLSIU a good option? Many of my friends dropped out of there saying it was very hectic and boring with no extracurricular.

SS
Shreya Satpati, Posted On : October 25th, 2021
B.A.LLB (Hons.) from National Law School of India University, Bangalore (2017)

It can be said that NLSIU is the best institute for law. Here are some reasons as to why.

  • The library at NLSIU is one of the biggest in the country.
  • As far as extracurriculars are concerned, every trimester has something to offer.
  • In the first semester, there's Spiritus which is the biggest sports fest among all the law schools with participation from more than 20–30 colleges.
  • In the second trimester, there are Strawberry fields which is one of the biggest music festivals in the country with the participation of more than 60 bands from all over the country.
  • Lastly, in every trimester there's also some sporting event within the campus like gully cricket league, football league, and basketball league, and so on.
  • If you include debate moots, etc. it has so much to offer.
  • In the third semester, a whole week is devoted to extracurriculars from dance to music to dress-up competitions, etc.

Studying at NLSIU is hectic but never boring and the statement about no extracurricular activities is false. There are so many extracurricular activities that you might sometimes get confused about which to take part in.

How is the mess food at BITS Pilani, Pilani campus?

SD
Shruti Dasgupta Posted On : August 5th, 2023
Student at Birla Institute of Technology and Science, Pilani

BITS Pilani has the best mess food of any other institute in India. They fed us delicious food that felt homey. Students also have access to small shops nearby to satisfy their bellies. The students are given non-vegetarian food on all days except Tuesdays, and on some days they will get add-ons like ice cream and sweets. So do not worry about the food available here. BITS Pilani never disappoints you.

How is the campus life at NMIMS shirpur?

SG
Souvick Gupta Posted On : May 14th, 2021
B.Tech Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, SVKM'S NMIMS, Shirpur Campus (2019)

I have a few friends at NMIMS Shirpur, so I can tell you a little bit about the campus life at the institute.

  • Hostel and Mess- The hostels are the best in Maharashtra as well as in India. The best part of this campus is its infrastructure, the hostel rooms are quite spacious and they are the best among other colleges but there are no air conditioning facilities in the room. Mess food is good but they provide you with veg food.
  • Faculties & classrooms- The faculty base is good and most of them are quite friendly. The classrooms are well maintained and air-conditioned.
  • Placement wise- Placements are quite good. It offers 100% placement, provided if you do not have any backlog in any subject. The average package offered is 3.5 lacks and the highest is around 10 to 12 lakhs.
  • Fest & crowd- During the odd semester, you will have Aiesc Youth to Speak Forum (YSF) followed by Narsee Monjee Model United Nations (NMMUN) followed by the TECH FEST of the college i.e., Ambiora. During even semester you have Cultural fest i.e., Prothoson, and Sports fest i.e., Flavium followed by TedX.
  • Library- The library there is brilliant with a lot of articles and reference books.

This campus is ragging-free and the protocols are strict and require to be followed by every student. The campus is smoking and alcohol-free. If one is caught doing any act which violates the college rules and regulations, they will have to face severe punishment.

RB
Riddhima Banerjee Posted On : April 11th, 2023
Studied at Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee

Usually, people who have completed their bachelor's from Non-IIT colleges join IIT for the MTech program. IIT Roorkee has a very less workload in comparison to other IITs. The M.tech in Computer Science and Engineering can be summarized semester-wise in the following manner

1st Semester

  • There are 4 subjects in all
  • There are two labs namely, Programming Lab and Project Lab
  • Each subject has 3-4 classes while every lab has 1 period weekly.
  • You will be allowed to sit for interviews for internships at top companies like Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Flipkart, IBM, Qualcomm, CISCO, and many more.
  • Thomso, the much-awaited cultural fest held during October is a very intriguing and exciting event
  • There are no TA duties
  • The exams are relatively easy and your semester is over once you are done with your exams

2nd Semester

  • The second semester has 4 subjects with no labs at all
  • You are required to conduct a Literature Review of your semester work and you will be assigned a guide from you department under whom you will be working at least 2 of the courses will have projects as well
  • Instead of the cultural fest, you will enjoy a tech fest this year
  • No TAs duties are assigned
  • The exams are not very competitive and one can easily pass with enough preparation.

3rd Semester

  • The 3 semester is the life-changing and shaping semester as you will have to start preparing for summer internships.
  • Although the companies visit during Oct-Nov-Dec, the preparation starts well before summer.
  • The workload is less as students are allowed to focus more on placements
  • The first week of December witnessed 100% placements while some even got PPOs.

4th Semester

  • This is the most exciting and thrilling semester as you get to explore new things.
  • You are required to complete your thesis

What is your review of the Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi?

RJ
Rishit Jain Posted On : December 30th, 2022
Studied at Faculty of Management Studies, University of Delhi

One of the most cited B Schools in India, the Faculty of Management Studies focuses more on management education and not just on business management. The pedagogy comprises fieldwork, case studies, and feedback with a strong emphasis on concepts and theory.

According to IIFT 2022, its national rank is 4th. I will try to give an unbiased review based on the following aspects

Placements

FMS Delhi maintains a stable placement record of almost 100% over the years. Students receive high salary packages every year. The highest salary this year stood at INR 58 LPA whereas the average salary stood at INR 34.2 LPA which increased by 30.5% as compared to the previous year. Some major firms that visited the campus for recruitment are Boston Consulting Group, Nykaa, Paytm, Adobe, Adani Group, and BYJU.

Infrastructure

Although FMS offers no special hostel facilities, the DU hostels are also a choice. Around 20% of the batch go for hostels test search for PGs or flats near the campus itself. The students can avail of playground and sports facilities at Delhi University.

Faculty

The faculty is top-notch and very experienced. The teaching is not restricted to classrooms and assignments rather the faculty adopts a case-based approach. Various live projects are conducted every year. Top management executives visit the campus and hold guest lectures to provide maximum exposure to its students. Other assignments and field projects have tight deadlines and aid in the proper evaluation of the students.

So overall I think FMS is really a good choice for someone who wants to learn from the best at minimal expenses.

Culture
