How do you compare ECE in NITK and IIT Bhubaneswar?
NIT Surathkal was established in 1960, and its ECE program started in 1979. IIT Bhubaneswar was established in 2008, and its ECE branch started in 2016. Even though IIT Bhubaneswar is very new compared to NIT Surathkal, it in no way lags behind in terms of clubs, societies, academics and placements for its ECE students.

The Average and Lowest Package for IIT Bhubaneswar’s B.Tech ECE are much better than NITK. Added to better placements is the fact that IIT Bhubaneswar carries the prestigious ‘IIT’ tag and modern infrastructure.
Based on all these reasons, I would suggest you opt for B.Tech ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar.
What should be preferred, CS at Thapar Patiala or Electrical Engineering at PEC Chandigarh?
As these are two distinct branches of engineering, you should pursue a topic that piques your interest.
- CS is primarily concerned with software, whereas EE is more concerned with hardware.
- Fees may be high, but consider it an investment because if you learn and perform well, your first year's salary will pay for four years of education and beyond.
- However, listen to your heart and natural instincts.
- A CS graduate has more demand than an Electrical graduate. This is due to the rapid and constant growth of the corporate world.
- Electrical Engineering students can also sit for placements of both core and IT firms.

It’s not true that EE is the worst branch at Thapar. Electrical Engineering at Thapar is far better than any other college in India.
The Electrical Engineering Program at Thapar University is designed to prepare its graduates for continued learning and successful careers in industry, government, academia, and consulting.

Many of my friends are at Thapar University pursuing Electrical Engineering and I never heard any negative feedback about the program from them.
So, EE is not the worst at Thapar. However, there are possibilities that you might not find it as per your expectation but that doesn’t mean that the program is bad.

I think choosing ECE in IIT Bhubaneswar is the best option for you, However, CSE in BITS Hyderabad, and engineering physics in IIT Hyderabad are good options as well, it majorly depends on your preference.

Which is better, IIT Bhubaneswar for EE or IIIT Hyderabad for ECE?
ECE and EEE, most of the syllabus is same and the subjects are considered as electrical core subjects like analog, digital electronics, signals, networks, etc. With courses being almost the same, the comparison comes down to other aspects of institutes.

If you aim to get good placement packages after finishing your degree to work then you should opt EE in IIT Bhubaneswar. In 2019 placement 86% EE batch was employed. PSUs hire directly from IITs with the new mandate by the government which gives students in IIT to pursue a career in PSU without having to clear GATE. Although for ECE the placement of IIIT Hyderabad is higher (10 LPA) compared to IIT Bhubaneswar.

IIIT Hyderabad also provides great infrastructure and laboratories and have been very well funded for research papers. IITs get their funds from the Govt. and both institutes are on equal pace in this aspect.

Campus life can be one more aspect that students may find interesting while selecting the course and college. Academics in IIIT Hyderabad ECE is considered to be advantageous compared to IIT Bhubaneswar EE, because of IIT BBS is a new institute.

Should I join IIIT Guwahati for ECE, or should I join NIT Silchar's EEE?
Having a few friends studying in both of these institutes, I can provide you with some details based on my interaction with them. IIIT Guwahati and NIT Silchar are both institutes of national importance. The NIRF Ranking for Engineering 2020 is 66 and 46 respectively.
- If you want to join the Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE) branch, IIIT Guwahati is the only choice because NIT Silchar does not offer this branch.
- But for others, like Electronics and Communications Engineering (ECE), NITS will be the best selection.
- Even the alumni of NITS are biased towards their institute.
- The campus of IIIT Guwahati is new. The institute is well-equipped but yet far behind NITS.
- IIT Guwahati has a weaker base of alumni. The reason is that it came into existence after NITS.

I have a friend at IIEST Shibpur and here is his insight on the IT placements at the institute.
The placement statistics at IT in IIEST are excellent. The esteemed companies that are recruiters for IT include PwC, Veritas, HSBC, Microsoft, Adobe, TCS, CTS, Wipro, Infosys, etc. You will be offered internships in your 3rd year. The major recruiters in IIEST are IT companies. Therefore, from the IT department, the majority of students are able to receive placements except for a few.

I am a third-year student at IIT Dhanbad. I’ll suggest you go for Mechanical at IIT Dhanbad.
Although the Placements in 2024 are still ongoing, the average package of the 2023 mechanical branch stands at INR 14.74 LPA, while the placement percentage is 83.52%. Some of the top companies that have given placements this year at IIT Dhanbad are- Accenture, Ericsson, Flipkart, Siemens, and Wiley Edge.

I’d suggest you take admission into an older college like IIT Dhanbad as it offers stronger industry connections. Additionally, you’ll experience a stronger and more vibrant alumni network.
Thus, I would recommend IIT Dhanbad Mechanical over IIT Mandi Mechanical and IIT Tirupati Electrical.
What should I choose, IIT Mandi for electrical and IIT Bhubaneswar for ECE or IIT Ropar?
As a student of ECE at IIT Bhubaneswar, I can provide you some insight into my college/department-
- IIT Bhubaneswar has experienced faculty with strong research backgrounds.
- It has advanced laboratories with well maintained equipment.
- IIT BBSR emphasises research and innovation.
- It has strong industry collaborations for internships and placements.
- The ECE curriculum at IIT BBSR is well-structured.

Which is better EE in IIT Bhubaneshwar or in IIT Indore?
Because Bhubaneswar is the capital of Orrisa and Indore is the most important and industrial capital of Madhya Pradesh, when it comes to geographical location, Indore has the upper hand with a slight advantage due to its weather.
Various ranking agencies have ranked IIT Bhubaneswar over the years. The NIRF 2022 ranked it 65th in the Overall Category and 36th in the Engineering Category in 2022 for its overall academic performance.
IIT Indore has been placed 16th in the NIRF Engineering Rankings 2022. IIT Indore has been ranked 31st in the overall category by the NIRF Rankings 2022, with an overall score of 55.13. THE World University Rankings 2022 place IIT Indore in the 401-500th range, and THE Young University Rankings 2022 place it in the 76th range.
Thus, IIT Indore is better in EE.
