I would like to work abroad (in Canada) after MBA. What should I choose between IIM Indore and SPJIMR?

How was your first day at IIM Indore IPM?
Here is the experience of one of the IPM students of IIM Indore.
She completed some paperwork and a brief registration process as soon as she arrived at the campus and Hostel Reception Center, after which she was given her temporary identity card, room key, etc. She also completed the course registration and other paperwork later that day.
The following two days of Induction were when the real action began.
On the second day, she and her friends hurried to the auditorium after hearing an introduction to the faculty, information about IGNOU, and the format of the IPM course. The remaining three days of the induction passed slowly. Despite the fact that students were involved and there were actual activities.
You are prepared for life at IIM, which is tedious and enjoyable but irregularly busy, during the 7-hour continuous induction.
Is there any difference if I do MBA in IIM Indore through integrated program or get into IIM Indore through CAT?
Yes, there are a lot of differences between these two courses. After your successful completion of the integrated program, you will be awarded an Integrated Diploma in Management. And after the successful completion of a postgraduate diploma, you will be awarded Post Graduate Diploma Management.
- You will not receive an MBA degree after completion of any of these courses from IIM Indore because all the IIMs do not fall under the Universities Grant Commission Act.
- There is a great practical understanding between the PGP students as they belong from different backgrounds, different colleges, and have different kinds of work experience.
- There is an added advantage to IPM students as they get rounded development over the period of 5 years in a business environment while the CAT exam is being cracked by 90% of the engineers.
- But the syllabus for both these courses is the same and there is no distinction. The classes, programs, and activities, and even the placements of both PGP and IPM students are conducted together.
Hence, there are a lot of differences between the two courses like certificate and study environment, but in the end, their course structure is similar and the placements are also conducted together.
How many students are from TIME in IPM IIM, Indore?
This is a question which is difficult to answer. But let me share my friend’s experience which might give you a clear idea.
I can say only about his coaching center which was TIME CP center. According to the placement report of the IIM Indore for the year 2021, there were 107 IPM students in the latest pass-out batch of 2016-21. His center had around 30-40 students preparing for IPM at IIM Indore and of those only 1 got selected.
He was an IPM at IIM Indore aspirant. But the composite score cut-off in the year 2018 was 50.75 and he was way below it.
What is the highest package of IIM Indore?
The highest package of IIM Indore of 2022 is
- EPGP- INR 70 LPA
- PGP IPM- INR 49 LPA
- PGP HRM- INR 36 LPA
An increase of nearly 30% has been observed in the average package offered to EPGP students during placements in 2022 when compared to 2021. An increase of nearly 114% has been observed in the average package offered to EPGP students during placements in 2022 when compared to 2021. So we can say that the highest package of IIM Indore is INR 70 LPA.

Which are the top branded institutes/colleges/university in India like IIM Indore IPM for doing dual courses of BBA+MBA after 12th Commerce?
These integrated programs are unique in that they offer dual degree programs as well. A second entrance exam is not required in order to enroll in a graduate program. To enroll in the course, there is only one entrance exam.

Has anyone rejected SP Jain for IIM Indore?
Many people reject IIM Indore/Kozhikode for SPJIMR and vice versa. This is because, at the end of the day, it depends on your goals. Generally, most of the top B-schools have an excellent quality of education and other decisive factors.
As the question is quite subjective, you might be surprised to know that there are more reasons to reject IIM Indore for SP Jain instead. Although IIM Indore would bring you the IIM Tag there's nothing much to vouch for as it's newly established and isn’t at par with top IIMs like Bangalore, Kolkata, Ahmedabad, etc.
However, here are some reasons why SP Jain stands as a better choice.
- You can choose a specialization. Whether it is consulting or GenMan.
- Your specialization phase is about 3-4 months in the second year.
- SPJIMR has all the required subjects for modern industry needs. They also have a rural immersion, international immersion with partner schools in the US.
- You can participate in a course where you can be a part of the committee. Also an opportunity to mentor an underprivileged child.
- All these activities instill skills of being a well-rounded manager in you.
- You can also learn interesting and innovative subjects like Design Thinking.
- SP Jain boasts a smaller batch size than IIM which means you get to interact more closely with your mentors.
Overall, MBA at SPJIMR is quite an experience. Yes IIM Indore must also have advantages like brand tag or alumni base, but you can enjoy better subject structure, schedule, smaller batch size, better placements, etc. at SP Jain. In the end, it’s totally an individual preference.
What has more value, an IPM from IIM Indore or a BBA from some reputed college and then an MBA from some top IIM?
First, keep in mind that you're looking for a program that will help you develop your entire personality while also giving you access to cutting-edge amenities and facilities and an assured MBA from one of the best B schools in the nation. The IPM course offered by IIM Indore is ideal for you if this is what you're looking for.
If, however, you are solely interested in a BBA program and are confident that you can enter IIM ABC after BBA despite the competition from roughly 2 lakh engineers, then go for it.
However, if you choose to do so, you also have the choice to leave the IPM after receiving your undergraduate degree and enroll in a better business school to complete your MBA. Therefore, if you must choose between the two, it is advised that you go with the first because it will give you better exposure, a more competitive environment, better amenities, and a rare opportunity to graduate from an IIM that is among the top 5 in the nation.
Should I go for MDI or IIM-Indore?
Both IIM Indore Mumbai Campus and MDI Gurgaon are very good institutes for Management Studies. Both institutes are on a par with each other on an academic level however there is a slight difference when it comes to job opportunities and such. Another factor is the alumni network. IIM has a better alumni network than MDI.
- The IIM tag will definitely help you in the long run.
- When it comes to placements companies tend to offer more salaries to IIM Indore students when compared to MDI. According to the recent placement highlights the average CTC offered at IIM Indore is 23 LPA. For MDI, the average CTC ranges around 20 LPA.
- Even for consultancy job roles, IIM Indore is the preferable choice of the companies.
- IIM Indore has a strong international linkage and is well connected to the nearby industry.
- IIM is also preferable due to its vast spread network of alumni who are in every major company in every major position spread across the globe.
Due to the above reasons, IIM Indore is better than MDI.
What is IPM course from IIM Indore?
IPM is a 5 years integrated program launched by IIM Indore. It is the first of its kind in India. It is especially for students with potential in management and leadership. The eligibility criteria for the program is class 12th in CBSE or equivalent boards.
- In the first 3 years, a foundation is laid properly and the last 2 years are left for management only. A lot of students opt for the institute’s 2-year post-graduate program in Management.
- The syllabus and the wide exposure help the students at IPM for different leadership roles. Apart from the rigorous academics, IPM students participate in various extracurricular activities.
- As an IPM student, you will have to complete a social internship by the 3rd year. Apart from the social internship IPM students also do a business internship in their 4th and 5th years to increase their practical knowledge.
