From what I've researched, DTU's B.Tech in Chemical Engineering offers excellent placement opportunities with an impressive average package of over 16 lakhs and a highest package of 1.8 Crore, which is quite appealing considering the tuition fee of around 2,29,000 for the year 2025-2026. In contrast, IIIT Delhi's B.Tech in Computer Science and Biosciences might yield good returns too, but specific placement data isn't as clear. DTU also has a solid scholarship framework and a strong internship pipeline with big names like Microsoft and Google, enhancing its value for money. If you lean towards tech and want a more established placement record, DTU could be the smarter financial choice, while IIIT Delhi might suit those interested in a niche field with potentially emerging opportunities.
I would recommend opting for MCE at DTU if you're aiming for tech placements. Here’s why:
If you're interested in research in computer science, then IIIT Delhi is the way to go.
IIT Delhi's B.Tech in Mathematics and Computing offers a rigorous curriculum that combines advanced mathematics and computer science, preparing you for high-paying roles in tech and finance, with top companies like Jane Street actively recruiting. The campus life is vibrant, with excellent facilities and numerous clubs, while the faculty is highly qualified, contributing to a rich learning experience. In contrast, IIIT Delhi's B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering likely has a more specialized focus on electronics, which could be beneficial if you're interested in that field, but it may not match the breadth of opportunities found at IIT Delhi. Personally, I'd choose IIT Delhi for its superior placements, diverse career paths, and robust academic environment, especially if you love math and computing. If you're passionate about electronics specifically, then IIIT Delhi could be a good fit, but for overall student experience and opportunities, IIT Delhi edges ahead.
Major pros of option 1:
Major pros of option 2:
As a student of IIIT Delhi, I might have a slight bias. I recommend you consider what qualities you value in a college and program before making your decision. All the best!
CSE 5 YEARS IS A BETTER CHOICE! But if you're not planning on pursuing higher studies after college, that extra year might feel like a burden. Otherwise, it’s a solid option!
I recommend going for B.Tech in Electrical Engineering at IIT Delhi. B.Tech in Computer Science and Biosciences is a relatively new program, so I can't provide much insight on it.
Here are a few points to consider:
Choose wisely!
Both are good colleges. The curriculum of IIIT Delhi is among the most updated and one of the best in CSE. IIIT Delhi is more rigorous in studies and offers a lot of research possibilities. Both choices are great.
80-90 percentile in JEE Main 2024 will roughly translate to a rank between 1,50,000 to 3,00,000. Here is the previous year cutoff for B.Tech admission at IIIT Delhi to give you a basic idea of the cutoff trends (for general category)-
JEE MAIN cutoff 2023 for B.Tech admission at IIIT Delhi (General Category)
| Branch | HS | OS |
|---|---|---|
| B.Tech Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence | 8,416 | - |
| B.Tech Computer Science Engineering | 11,874 | - |
| B.Tech Computer Science and Applied Mathematics | 14,725 | 5,489 |
| B.Tech Computer Science and Design | 17,905 | 7,454 |
| B.Tech Computer Science and Social Sciences | 22,859 | 7,896 |
| B.Tech Computer Science and Biosciences | 23,771 | 8,304 |
| B.Tech Electronics & Communication Engineering | 26,762 | 8,670 |
| B.Tech Electronics & VLSI Engineering | 30,593 | 10,141 |
As evident from the table, the JEE Main cutoff at IIIT Delhi is quite high (between 5,489-10,141 for OS candidates, and 8,416-30,593 for HS candidates). Therefore, it is unfortunately highly unlikely for you to get an admission into IIIT Delhi for a B.Tech program with 90 percentile in JEE Main 2024. This is especially true if you are a general category candidate.
IIIT Delhi cutoffs are released by JAC Delhi based on the previous year’s cutoff and JEE Mains score. In 2023, the overall JEE Mains cutoff for the SC category ranged from 25550 to 58764 ranks.
However, according to the JEE Mains Predictor 2024, 80 percentile is expected to range between 233022 and 250381 ranks.
Hence, there are very low chances of getting admission to IIIT Delhi with an 80 percentile under the SC category and OS quota. Candidates can refer to the table given below to comprehend last year’s cutoff trend for the SC category and other state quotas:

Here is the best preference order you can refer to while choosing one IIIT from the long list you mentioned. I have considered all parameters including placements, coding culture, research, infrastructure, alumni, etc
If you are genuinely interested in coding or CSE, the best options for you would be IIIT Hyderabad, Allahabad, Bangalore, and Delhi. You can consider the top NITs as excellent options too. These 4 IIITs are the only IIITs that are better than NITs in terms of research, curriculum, and holistic development.
IIIT Lucknow, although a new IIIT, has established its name among the top IIITs. Its high ranking is because of its excellent coding culture and thus many product companies visit it. These 4 IIITs have their own campus too and charge high fees because of the top-notch faculty and research resources they offer.
All the remaining IIITs are in the development stage and should not be given consideration. It’s better to choose the top 7 or 8 NITs than these developing IIITs.
