Is NMIMS good for law?

RD
Rishabh Das Posted On : January 17th, 2022
B.B.A. LL.B from Kirit P. Mehta School of Law, NMIMS (2019)

Studying Law at NMIMS is a really good option. It is a very stressful and demanding course which requires a lot of attention and dedication. Here you have to maintain a 80% attendance to be able to sit for the examinations.

The subject demands lots of projects every semester. You will also have to keep yourself engaged in extracurricular activities, as it will create a good impression in your resume.

Their faculty is also very well experienced with members holding PhD degrees. They are extremely cooperative and helpful. Except for the infrastructure, everything about the college is really top notch. Mumbai, as a city also has its own perks.

Who/What do you hate the most in MNNIT Allahabad?

SA
Shibu Ahuja Posted On : July 13th, 2021
Studied at Motilal Nehru National Institute of Technology, Allahabad

The most annoying part of college life at MNNIT is its 'anti-innovation environment in mechanical engineering. In the four years of the program, you will notice that average teachers or fun fests wouldn't matter as much as the exploration of your creative potential.

If you try to create new things, the college itself will create obstacles, such as these:

  • Lack of manufacturing facilities: As a mechanical engineering student, you might build a machine or a humanoid robot. But, MNNIT has a 3D printer worth 35 lakhs which doesn't work. Even the CNC machines don't work because they are quite old. The lab harbors a 'robotic arm' which moves at times and is the only showpiece in the lab-cum-museum.
  • Lack of academic freedom: You're not allowed to choose your subject! So you might get stuck with learning 'steam-powered engineering' even when you do not have any intention of working in that field.
  • Dull and boring: Because of the 75% attendance rule, you will be stuck in a non-AC classroom or a lab with broken equipment. If you are a female student, you'll have to abide by stringent hostel timing rules.

Being an engineering student, you must worry about the washrooms, or mess rather you should be concerned about the lab timings, technical facilities available there, and whether it all works efficiently. If you're a CS student, then you'll be fine. Other branches too may find things to their liking but not mechanical.

How is the IIM Ranchi IPM interview?

KA
Krishna Agarwal Posted On : January 11th, 2023
Academic Coordinator at Indian Institute of Management Rohtak (2017-present)

My brother had his interview at IIM Ranchi last year for IPM. His 10th marks were 95% and 12th (PCB) marks stood at 78.4%. His interview was scheduled for the afternoon. He was welcomed by 2 male panelists who seemed quite comfortable and asked him if he had had lunch before appearing for the interview. Then they asked him the following questions

  • 10/12th marks
  • Favorite subject (PS: I said biology.)
  • Why did you choose IPM after having biology? How would these subjects complement you?
  • What is the difference between gray and white matter? (Brain)
  • What is the function of the vitreous humor, and where is it located?
  • What are the different enzymes secreted by the pancreas?
  • Name the smallest and largest bone in the human body. (Location as well)
  • State the “Second law of thermodynamics.”
  • Define E=mc^2
  • CM of your state. Any current official statement made by him.
  • What is your hobby?

From the above list of questions, we can boldly say that the majority of the questions are aimed at testing your general knowledge. If you have a confident aura, you will easily win their favor.

Pro tip: You can direct the interview to a favorable topic by elaborating on any specific answer.

What GMAT score can be considered good for applying to ISB Hyderabad with an average academic profile?

BS
Bhavya Singh Posted On : March 18th, 2021
ISB Hyderabad

Several factors affect the chance of a candidate getting a seat in ISB Hyderabad. Not only the GMAT score, but also the application profile, essays, and performance in the interview combined together decides whether a candidate should get a seat or not in such an elite institute. The points listed below are some important aspects to consider for admission to such institutes.

  • There is no fixed cut-off for ISB Hyderabad, as declared by the institute. There are examples of people with a GMAT score of 720 not getting a seat from the interviews. On the other hand, there are candidates with a score of 700-710 but are successful in getting a seat in ISB Hyderabad.
  • GMAT score is not the only criteria for getting a seat, but the door to get an interview call. The quality of essays written by the candidate, his/her application/ profile, and the performance in the interviews are also considered.
  • For candidates with an average profile, a GMAT score of 720+, along with a complete application and a good essay can be considered to have high chances to receive an interview call. After having a call, the rest depends on how the candidate will perform in his/her interview.

This is the overall scenario for admission in ISB Hyderabad, for a student with an average profile.

MBA Preparation: What GMAT score can be considered good for applying to ISB Hyderabad with an average academic profile?

UP
Uday Pawar Posted On : January 30th, 2023
Studied Finance at Indian School of Business (2004)

Generally speaking anything above 750 is a good score for admission to IBS Hyderabad. But even a high GMAT score does not guarantee admission to IBS Hyderabad because the shortlisting is profile-based. GMAT score is just a part of the entire selection process. You need to improvise your profile by working on other aspects also like

  • essays
  • profile
  • academics
  • extracurricular activities

Academics: Your 12th class marks graduation grades, post-graduation, and certification scores along with the GMAT cutoff is considered in your academic profile.

Leadership: The leadership skills of the aspirants are tested on the basis of their prior achievements and roles.

Personal attributes: This comprises your personal qualities like hobbies, talents, and extracurricular skills. Aspirants from diverse work experiences, cultures, and educational backgrounds are welcomed at IBS Hyderabad.

So along with preparing well for GMAT, give importance to these parameters as well to increase your chances of admission.

IIM Indore vs FMS. Which one should I choose?

HS
Harish Shah Posted On : January 11th, 2023
Mentee for Life | IIM Lucknow (2021) | B.Tech., DTU (2015)

FMS, without a doubt.
Do not compare FMS to IIM Indore just because it is an IIM; this is a mistake. The positions available at FMS are much better than those at IIM I. Furthermore, FMS completely dominates the field when it comes to the ideal batch size. A small batch size ensures that more candidates see the process of more companies without missing out on any opportunities, even though the roles are limited at all campuses.

  • IIM Indore's well-known alumni may be alluring, but roles are typically a better metric to use when assessing a university.

For instance, both institutes use Deloitte as a common recruiter. However, the position at FMS is in the area of strategy, whereas Indore receives an IT-related position.

  • The ROI is the next significant matrix to evaluate.

Even though the current generation believes that ROI shouldn't be the most important factor to take into account, the combination of ROI and Location gives FMS an undeniable advantage over many other top campuses across the nation. As you advance year after year in the corporate world with new roles and switches, you get a better return after investing two years.

  • Campus Life is an additional factor to take into account.

It is the much-discussed factor used to rank campuses. It makes no sense at all to choose IIM I just for the sake of the on-campus experience.

SG
Soumya Ghose Posted On : April 8th, 2021

JECEC University is quite good for a BTech. One of my friends did his B.Tech CSE from the institute. He had a good experience there.

  • The course curriculum is updated with the latest industry trends. For CSE they taught new technologies.
  • They conduct aptitude classes. Which will help you in your placement and also in life.
  • The institute offers many opportunities for its students to go to IITs and NITs for technical, cultural, or entrepreneurship competitions.
  • It conducts placement training. You will learn how to creak an interview and other relevant skills.
  • The teachers are also quite helpful. They will help you in both academics and placements.

These are some of the things that you should know about the institute. Hope this helps.
