What are the worst things about bit mesra?

AB
Arun Biswas Posted On : August 9th, 2023
Studied at Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra

Every coin has two sides and likewise, every institute has its strengths and weaknesses. BIT Mesra has a number of flaws pertaining to its education and culture. I have listed a few

  • One of the biggest cons of this institute is that students aren’t encouraged or inclined towards research and innovations at all. All they care about is getting a decent GOA and eventually a job.
  • The faculty is least interested in conducting quality research and discovery. They just conduct monotonous classes for the sake of it just to earn money.
  • The institute has excellent infrastructure but its utility is poor. There are supercomputers and computational tools, however, they aren’t used to the fullest to bring big achievements.
  • Even in this age and era, students are judged on the basis of personal relationships, attendance count; and GPA.
  • The focus on securing a high GPA has definitely affected the quality of education and resulted in a rat race for placements.

I really hope the institute makes amendments and brings about a massive research culture soon!

Is it worth joining IIM Nagpur for a person who already has work experience of 3.5 years and earns an 8.3 LPA?

HN
Hardik Nagar Posted On : January 23rd, 2023
MBA in General Management, Indian Institute of Management, Nagpur (Graduated 2022)

When considering the question of which MBA program to attend, it is important to recognize that there is no definitive answer and that the decision will vary depending on the individual. There is a multitude of factors to consider before making this decision, and understanding how these factors weighed into another individual's decision-making process can be helpful in making one's own decision.

For those considering IIM Nagpur, the first factor to consider is likely to be the cost of tuition. It is not uncommon for MBA programs to come with a significant price tag, and this can be a significant factor in determining which program to attend. IIM Nagpur has a fee structure of INR 13.75 lakhs, which is significantly lower than many other options on the market. This can make a big difference for those who are taking out an educational loan, as it can free up funds for other opportunities or risks.

Another important factor to consider when looking at MBA programs is the brand value of the institution. IIMs are widely recognized as the best business schools in India, and the reputation of an IIM can open doors in the job market and throughout one's career. It is crucial to weigh in the long-term benefits that come with being associated with an IIM.

Batch diversity in experience is another important consideration, especially for those who are looking to leverage peer learning as one of the most important aspects of an MBA program. IIM Nagpur has a diverse set of students with rich experience from a variety of industries, which can open up opportunities to learn about different domains and industries that one might not have been aware of before.

Lastly, the curriculum, faculty, and culture of the school are important factors when selecting an MBA program. IIM Nagpur has a vast curriculum that is designed to closely align with the business world. Faculty are well experienced and knowledgeable in their subjects and make sure the students understand the concepts in a better way. Additionally, there is a great extent of flexibility in the electives that the students want to study. With this, students can spend the first year trying to figure out their interests and then choose electives accordingly in the second year.

Which college should I choose - IMS BHU or KGMU Lucknow?

AY
Anjali Yadav Posted On : May 1st, 2026

IMS BHU (Institute of Medical Sciences, Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi) vs KGMU (King George's Medical University, Lucknow) — both are excellent UP government medical colleges. here's the honest comparison:

IMS BHU: part of the Central University of BHU, one of India's oldest and most prestigious universities. excellent academic reputation, strong research culture, good faculty. Varanasi campus life is unique. admission via NEET+AIAPGET centralized counseling for BHU seats.

KGMU Lucknow: one of India's oldest medical colleges (est. 1911), largest teaching hospital in UP, excellent clinical exposure due to huge patient load. very strong for postgraduate medical education. Lucknow is a major metro with good infrastructure.

verdict: both are genuinely top-tier government medical colleges in North India. for clinical exposure and PG preparation, many prefer KGMU due to the sheer volume of cases. for academic prestige and university ecosystem, IMS BHU has the edge. if your goal is PG (MD/MS) — KGMU's clinical load may serve you better. if research/academic career is the aim — BHU's central university environment is better. location preference (Varanasi vs Lucknow) also matters.

Is NIT Surathkal better than IIT Roorkee

PP
Pratik Parikh Posted On : April 11th, 2023
Lives in Bangalore

It would be unfair to make a comparison between NIT Surathkal and lIT Roorkee, as both institutions have their own strengths and reputations. Yet if I were asked to choose one, I would have definitely gone for IIT Roorkee as it is at a whole different level from NIT Surathkal.

Here are a few reasons that justify my claim:

  • IIT Roorkee ranks 6 among other IITs
  • It is Asia's oldest Engineering college
  • You get the tag of being an IITian
  • It has an extensive alumni network owing to its early establishment

The only condition under which I would recommend you choose NIT Surathkal over IIT Roorkee is when you are getting CSE at NIT and Metallurgy at IIT Roorkee. Else, choosing IIT Roorkee over NIT Surathkal will always be a wise decision.

How good is iit gandhinagar?

AA
Aarti Ahuja Posted On : July 27th, 2023

Honestly speaking, IIT Gandhinagar does not deserve to be in the IIT family nor does it deserve the IIT tag. I am not saying the education and placement opportunities here are pathetic but they are still far from actual IIT standards. or even top NITs and BITS.

It’s due to the Marketing tactics of the director that the institute gains such high rankings by NIRF and other ranking bodies. The internships and placement scenario is pathetic owing to the deteriorating student strength and efforts on the part of the university.

I will suggest everyone against joining this institute and ruining their career.

How was your experience of DTU Spot round?

NT
Nivedita Trivedi Posted On : July 3rd, 2023
Studied At DTU, Delhi

My friend describes her DTU spot round experience as the most surprising and unexpected incident of hers which she is unable to forget to date.

After her average Boards score, she had little hope for selection. Based on the previous cutoff she would get PIE in DTU but she found out that there were only 3 seats for PIE in DTU for GNGNO and they were all opted as the spot round proceeded to 12K. She then thought of getting an MPAE in NSIT although she wasn’t very sure.

After much anticipation and research, she was called up by the committee conducting the spot round and was asked to choose from PCT in DTU or MPAE in NSIT. She happily selected MPAE in NSIT as it was related to Mechanical. After losing all hope she ended up with a good branch and a great institute.

If I fail a subject in 1st year and pass it in the 1st supplementary will I get a star in my memo JNTUH?

AS
Aishwarya Shastri Posted On : August 3rd, 2023
Lives in Hyderabad

I will suggest that you don’t apply for the intermediate analogy in Graduation. It's a way you can easily pass the subjects based on your convenience throughout the full time of the course. You won’t get any stars in your memo but you will have a memo for each supplementary you write.

The individual memos help you in applying to foreign universities. For other applications, you require a Consolidated Marks Memo which can be easily obtained after clearing all papers. These memos have stars even if you pass in all subjects.

Hope this helped you!

How was your first day at IIT Roorkee?

KB
Keshav Behera Posted On : April 11th, 2023
B.Tech from Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee

Your first day at IIT Roorkee will certainly hold a special place in your heart. The first impression is definitely the last impression and so is the first impression of IIT Roorkee. The following answer is based on the experience of a friend.

As she entered, she was thrilled by the beauty of the campus and the infrastructure. She entered the Convocation Hall and got herself registered after a tiresome process. She was then handed a paper ID card.

Next, she was escorted to her assigned hostel which to her dismay was an old and eerie building. Her roommate was in the branch as her and soon she unpacked her belongings and set up her room. By evening, she had interacted with some regarding the Orientation Program.

The next few days were spent in a frenzy with the alarm clock waking her up early in the morning. Students were given a tour of the campus and were also asked to choose their proficiency amongst NCC, NSS & NSO. There was also a test of English where the vocabulary was to be evaluated.

The students were enlightened in basic policies such as curfew timings and no ragging culture.

Students were also given a white-colored T-shirt with IITR’s logo and were asked to run a marathon at 6 am in the morning. The food served at the mess was pathetic.

Overall, the first day at IIT Roorkee is full of surprises and learning new things!
