How easy is it to change branch in IIT Kharagpur?
My cousin had got a branch change from Mechanical engineering to Electronics engineering (ECE). He shared his experience with me of how easy it was to get a branch change.
The primary and most important thing is to be regular and give equal attention to all subjects. You have to focus on your studies only and not let any distractions take the better of you. Be firm on your goal and give up all time-wasting activities.
You need to be rightly motivated and determined to achieve these goals. Not losing hope is the key as one or two exams do not define you. You will get ample opportunities to prove yourself so just keep working hard.
My cousin scored below average in the middle of the 2nd semester. However, she got this sudden motivation and studied hard and was able to score an overall CGPA of 9.64. She studied consistently every day and was able to change her branch eventually.
How did IIT Ropar suddenly beat the top 7 IITs and came to the first position?
The former Director of IIT Ropar, Mr. SK Das is very visionary. Sir had hired during his time, very qualified faculty for IIT Ropar. In this institution, the student-teacher ratio 9:1 is appropriate for a healthy teaching environment and ample class interaction. Also, the research facilities and focus on research is truly unbeatable.
IIT Ropar has signed numerous MoUs with foreign universities for faculty, research collaboration, and student exchange. It has a state-of-the-art infrastructure.
The older IITs have a strong alumni network, however, that is not taken into consideration for rankings.
There are numerous rankings and each uses different parameters to rank institutions. One should be accepted if a newer institution ranks higher than an old established one.
The older IITs are mentors to the newer ones and thus, the success of IIT Ropar should be celebrated as an achievement for all.
What is your review of Mount Carmel College Bangalore?
Mount Carmel College is one of the finest in Bangalore. It has received star college award for the science department. The campus has a great student crowd with fantastic energy.
The college has good infrastructure. Every class has a hybrid board for presentation. The campus has a lot of uncluttered spaces to socialize and study. The sports facilities are pretty good as well. The basketball and the fields are well-maintained. The campus also has a well-equipped gym.
The professors are well-qualified and helpful. The undergraduate courses taught at the college have a decent balance between theoretical and practical subjects.
Mount Carmel College placements are pretty good. In the recent placement, the median CTC offered to students was INR 3 LPA. The number of companies visiting the campus is increasing each year. Big MNCs like Wipro, Dell, E&Y, JP Morgan, etc. visit the campus drive.
Which is better AIIMS or JIPMER?
if we're comparing AIIMS Delhi vs JIPMER Pondicherry specifically, AIIMS Delhi wins — but not as decisively as people think.
AIIMS Delhi advantages: bigger hospital, more patient variety, better research funding, smaller batch (132 seats), stronger PG and super-specialty programs. JIPMER advantages: way more hands-on clinical exposure, internship is genuinely more intensive, calmer campus in Pondicherry, 150+ years old institution with incredible legacy — way older than AIIMS itself.
- if you're from north India — AIIMS makes more sense since doctor-patient interaction is in Hindi
- if you're from south India or want a focused clinical environment — JIPMER is genuinely excellent
- JIPMER calls itself the AIIMS of the South and that's not really an exaggeration tbh
one thing most answers miss — this comparison only works for AIIMS Delhi and JIPMER Pondicherry. the new AIIMS campuses (Bhopal, Bibinagar, Raipur etc.) are much newer with limited infrastructure. JIPMER Pondicherry actually beats most of those hands down. preference order for most people: AIIMS Delhi > JIPMER Pondicherry > new AIIMS campuses.
How is Lovely Professional University for Engineering?
My sister completed her BTech ECE from LPU in 2018. She was placed in BSH Bosch Home Appliance in the 3rd year of BTech and she didn't have to study for the 4th year as she got placed early and went for her training.
From her experience, LPU is quite good. I will mention the points in favour of her statement:
1. LPU Placements
Top MNCs and organizations like Capgemini, Tech Mahindra, and Cognizant Technology have visited the LPU campus for placement in the recent years. Students got placed at CTCs of stirking INR 3 crore (Yasir M.) and INR 1 crore, the highest package is INR 42 LPA.
One thing she highlighted was the fact that LPU focused on placement assistance and mentoring. They take soft skills and training classes before the placement season.
2. Internships and Industry Immersion
University offers ‘industry immersion’ facility to the students. LPU has collaborated with major companies and students have gained the experience and exposure by interning in companies like ISRO, Infosys, Microsoft, Cognizant and many more.
3. Campus Facilities
The security measures are strict in the campus. The residential facilities are also good.
4. Academics and Curriculum
Students get to work on live industry-relevant projects. The additional lectures and workshops help students enhance their existing knowledge.
Which is better, a CS at VIT, VJTI, BITS Goa, BITS Hyderabad, or NIT?
great set of colleges to compare for CS. ranking for career outcomes:
BITS Goa ? BITS Hyderabad > VJTI Mumbai > VIT Vellore (and most NITs depend on which NIT)
breakdown:
- BITS Goa/Hyderabad: same BITS brand, same degree, Practice School internship in 3rd year, best placement infrastructure of these options. avg Rs.20-30 LPA. for CS career, both are excellent
- VJTI Mumbai: government college, Mumbai location gives incredible internship access, strong alumni. avg Rs.12-18 LPA but consistent. best government option of these
- VIT Vellore: strong national private brand, large recruiters base (TCS, Wipro, Infosys + some product companies). avg Rs.8-12 LPA with top offers Rs.30-40+ LPA. works well for students who build strong profiles
- NITs (specific matters a lot): top NITs (Trichy, Warangal) CSE > VIT for brand + government tag. mid-tier NITs ? VIT
verdict: if you have BITS Goa or BITS Hyderabad for CS — take it. if only VJTI, VIT or mid-tier NIT — VJTI > VIT Chennai ? good NITs. all are solid careers ahead of you with the right effort.
What should I choose between IIT-Kanpur CSE and IIT Madras CSE?
The best way is to break down various components and analyze each parameter individually.
Placements
- IIT Madras's average package in 2023 stood at INR 24.4 LPA while IIT Kanpur CSE highest package stood at 1.02 CPA.
Ranking
- IIT Kanpur was ranked 264th by the QS World University Rankings 2023 and #4 by NIRF for the year 2023 in the Engineering category whereas IIT Madras is ranked #1 by NIRF.
Campus
- IIT Madras has a 630 acres campus with many sports facilities like a gym, badminton courts, a swimming pool, and a cricket ground to name a few. The labs, library, and overall infrastructure are top-notch.
- IIT Kanpur is one of the biggest IIT campuses spread across 1000 acres. It has a dynamic campus life with many fests and activities. The library is huge and there is a club for everything.
Overall, IIT Madras seems to be in a better position than IIT Kanpur although both are excellent institutes of technical education.
How good is IMT Hyderabad college for MBA?
My brother recently graduated from IMT Hyderabad and thoroughly enjoyed hai college life there which gave him a plethora of memories. IMT Hyderabad MBA is a highly regarded program and is comparable to other B Schools. Here are a few reasons why he chose it over other reputed B Schools in the country.
- The institute is located in a remote area away from the hustle and bustle of city life so you get to experience a peaceful college life
- IMT Hyderabad faculty pool is one of the best in the country and engravings the concepts in you so well that makes learning an interesting job.
- The accommodation facilities are also great and all basic amenities are provided to the students.
- The institute focuses on holistic development of its students so academics and extracurriculars are given equal importance.
- IMT Hyderabad offers the right platform to showcase your talents and skills to the recruiters but does not guarantee placements because it all depends on your performance in the interviews.
So bear in mind that no matter how good an institute is, your career and placements depend on your skills and performance. The institute just renders you a platform and does not guarantee the result.
Which are the best books for preparation for BITSAT?
JEE (M) syllabus covers BITSAT significantly. But if we compare the overall question pattern, then the BITSAT exam is quite tricky due to the number of questions you need to solve.
To prepare for BITSAT you can follow the books suggested below.
PCM: If you are preparing thoroughly for the JEE exams, then there is no need for extra preparation for PCM for BITSAT.
English and Logical Reasoning:
- For the preparation of the English and Logical reasoning section, books by Disha Expert can be followed and it is easily available on Flipkart and Amazon.
- Students from the ICSE board may not require extensive preparation for English.
- There are YouTube video lectures by GradeUp, which will be helpful for your preparation.
- Do not take this section lightly as it carries 75 marks in total. Also, a few weeks is enough for the preparation of the English and Logical Reasoning section.
Clear Basics:
- If you are solely focused on BITSAT then Arihant books are the better options for preparation. Disha Expert is also a good option. Make sure you have a thorough understanding of the concepts discussed in the NCERT books.
- You can’t do well with selective study for BITSAT. You need a good understanding of the basics to score well.
With preparation, you also need to practice well to score better marks.
- Quality Mock Test: Pick a good Mock test series with relevant questions.
- Writing of 6-8 Mocks: It will help you to get the hang of time management for the examination. Allocate appropriate time for each section.
- Practice in Online Mode: Most of the students are not used to the computer-based online test. So, taking a few online mocks will help you boost your score.
- Strategize: Before giving the mock test, you should formulate a strategy that works for you. It mainly includes the time allocation for each section, along with answering orders for the questions.
- Get acquainted with the Format of the Questions: It is required for the English and Logical reasoning sections. Some of the most common formats for this section in the BITSAT exam are synonyms, antonyms, comprehension, family tree, etc.
Besides these above-mentioned suggestions, you should also solve the previous year’s questions. It will help you get acquainted with the exam format and question pattern.
What is the Paid Seat system at Banaras Hindu University (BHU)?
The paid seats system is a system for students who wanted to get admission to Banaras Hindu University but were unable to secure the qualifying ranks. In such a case, he/she can choose to pay the extra fee which is called the Paid seat system. These seats are available up to 5-10 seats in all courses and are reserved as paid seats. This is for those students who got a good rank but missed the campus seat with a very less difference in index.
Procedure
- Fill in the paid seat form online or during the counseling process. Paid seats are available both for the main campus and affiliated colleges.
- Your chances of getting the paid seats to work on the number of available seats and your index rank. For instance, if the cutoff is 280, and your marks are in the range of 270-279 you can secure your admission to the campus.
- The portal will release the result and you can check it on the concerned day.
Fees structure
Paid seats cost extra fees in addition to the semester fees. For example, if your course fee is Rs. 2000 and your paid seat fee is Rs. 25000 so the total fees for the semester will be INR 27000 but the fees for next semester will be the same as a regular seat.
