An ECE at IIIT, Allahabad is preferable to an IT at BIT, Mesra. Of course, the choice of the branch is subjective and should be chosen based on our own interests and preferences. But still, a degree at IIIT Allahabad is much more valuable than that of BIT Mesra.

The best thing about IIIT, Allahabad is its focus on research and thus will provide you the extra edge over other similar level candidates. The course structure is very focused and you will get subjects such as integrated robotics and many others. IIIT, Allahabad also offers the best facilities to hone your programming skills.

And then the fee structure of IIIT Allahabad is also much more affordable, 1.65 lakhs first-year fee to BIT Mesra’s 2.85 lakhs first-year fee, compared to BIT Mesra which gives the degree much more value with all the facilities, research opportunities, and placements it has to offer. Thus IIIT Allahabad is favored.

ECE in NIT Jamshedpur would be a better option than IT in BIT Mesra considering the facts given below. One of my friends pursued her ECE degree from NIT Jamshedpur and had a good experience. 

Placements: (Winning Institution - NIT Jamshedpur)

• The placements in NIT Jamshedpur for the ECE branch are much better than IT placements in BIT Mesra. 
• Most of the students of NIT Jamshedpur get placed in the software companies, only a few core ECE companies visit the campus.

Infrastructure and Faculty: 

• The college infrastructure and faculty of NIT Jamshedpur are not very up to the mark but then you cannot depend on the teachings. 
• Most of the time you have to study on your own or along with your friends. 

Branch Selection: If you are interested in opting for the IT branch then you can definitely go for BIT Mesra but if you have certain confusion in your branch selection, then it is recommended to choose ECE from NIT Jamshedpur. 

Mess and Hostel: (Winning Institution - NIT Jamshedpur)

• NIT Jamshedpur takes really good care of its students. Facilities like hostels and mess are really awesome. From the tasty food of mess to the clean rooms of the hostel, everything is just perfect. 
• My friend visited BIT Mesra for a workshop and according to her experience, the food at the campus is not that good. Their facilities are not up to the mark.

Considering all the facts mentioned above, NIT Jamshedpur stands out to be the better option.

I have a few friends from MMMUT. According to them, in this situation, the chances of getting a seat are very unlikely. Computer science and electronics communication branches are the most preferred ones. Since you are from the general category the chances are low but you should attend the counseling sessions to check in which branch you can get admission. In the third to the fourth round of counseling, you can get branches like Chemical Engineering. 

There are several professors in the ECE department of MNNIT Allahabad who are excellent in their teaching and lectures for students. These teachers help the students not only in the curriculum but in works related to research and provide other institutional facilities too.

One such example of such a professor is Prof. Amit Dhawan. The point below gives a brief overview of Prof. Dhawan’s characteristics.

• Prof. Amit Dhawan’s lectures are one of the few where students actually learn in detail in topics relevant to the curriculum.
• In most times, 100% attendance was seen in Prof. Amit Dhawan’s class.
• He designed the question paper as such it contains all logical questions, which needs to be solved analytically. No questions in the papers made by the professor require illogical lengthy answers.
• Prof. Amit Dhawan is famous for his lectures in Digital Electronics. He ignites the interest in the subject to most students’ minds in his class. Also, most students receive good grades in the subjects taught by Prof. Amit Dhawan.

These are some of the key highlights of Prof. Amit Dhawan’s lectures, which most students in ECE and also students from other departments in MNNIT Allahabad are well aware of.

Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering is a decent choice to pursue in IET DAVV if you are looking forward to cracking GATE. This branch has a decent placement record too. The faculty of the department is quite good and will guide you with your GATE preparation.

However, if you expect core electronics recruiters, you will be disappointed. In campus placement drive, students of ETC branch mostly get recruited in IT companies or mass recruiters. Here are the recent placement highlights of the ETC branch.

Both the branches are great in their own way, however, Computer Science holds an edge over ECE. Check out the following reasons to know why.

Undoubtedly, choosing CSE will be much beneficial to you in terms of placement, facilities, and additional skills.

A friend of mine completed BTech in Electronics and Telecom from IGIT. Here are some of the things that he shared about the institute. 

• Initially, you will feel the pressure from lots of assignments as assigned but then you will get used to it.
• The curriculum followed by the Department takes into account the latest subjects as per the current scenario.
• During lab sessions, you will have the guidance of teachers. According to my friend, Sunita ma’am was quite helpful. Some Faculties have exceptional knowledge in the field of Networking and Communication. My friend's guide was also of great help during his project in the final year.
• Apart from all this, there is decent placement as well not in terms of quality but quantity. Students get placed in companies such as TCS, Tech Mahindra, and Concept Infoway, etc.

From what I heard, there is not too much pressure from Teachers. You are free to do anything. So, make the most of your time at the institute.

For an ECE degree, PEC Chandigarh can be a better choice, considering the factor that there is quite a good number of core companies visiting the campus for placement. The table below gives a brief level of comparison among the two institutes.

Key Highlights:

• Electronics and Communication Engineering has a great value in present times if studied from good institutes like PEC or NITK.
• There are some problems with studying ECE from NIT Kurukshetra, the prime one being the lack of core electronics companies visiting the campus for placement.
• For students who are interested in working at an IT company or going for an M.Tech or MBA, ECE at both NIT Kurukshetra and PEC Chandigarh are good options. Both the institute has excellent reputations.
• Students should, at last, make choices considering the reviews having honest opinions about the advantages and disadvantages of both the institutes.

Therefore, students can consider the above factors as a point of advice and make choices accordingly.
