VISTAS Chennai Extends PhD Application Deadline 2026 Till January 31; Apply Now @vistas.ac.in

The VISTAS Chennai has extended the application deadline for Doctorate (PhD) Admission 2026 for the January session. Eligible and research-oriented candidates can now apply online till January 31, 2026. The university has confirmed that admissions will be offered only in departments where vacancies are available.

The selection process will consist of a Common Entrance Examination followed by a Personal Interview. Final admission will be granted based on academic performance, research aptitude, and interview assessment.

The university has clearly stated that full-time PhD candidates will be given top priority, encouraging focused, immersive, and high-quality research work.

Eligible full-time research scholars will be supported through the Vels Research Fellowship, which provides financial assistance throughout the research duration. This fellowship aims to promote long-term academic research under experienced faculty members and strengthen the university’s research ecosystem.

Candidates who have qualified in UGC, CSIR, ICMR, DBT, DST, NET-JRF, SET, AICTE-GATE, AYUSH, or INSPIRE Fellowships are exempted from appearing in the PhD entrance examination. However, attendance in the personal interview is mandatory for all applicants, including exempted candidates.

Candidates shortlisted in the entrance examination will be called for the personal interview round, where their research proposal, subject understanding, and research potential will be evaluated. Final admission offers will be issued after completing document verification and admission formalities as per the university schedule.
