Telangana panel suggests scrapping TS EAMCET, but 2026 exam to proceed as registration remains active.

The future of TS EAMCET 2026 came into focus after the Telangana Education Commission submitted a reform report to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy. The panel has recommended cancelling the state engineering entrance exam and introducing admissions based on Class 12 marks.

However, the 2026 registration process is already underway and exams are scheduled for May 2026. No official order has been issued so far, and the proposal is still under review by the state government.

In its recent report, the Telangana Education Commission proposed scrapping TS EAMCET and granting engineering admissions based on Intermediate (Class 12) marks instead of a separate entrance examination.

The main objective behind this suggestion is to reduce exam pressure on students and simplify the admission process. However, it is clearly stated that no final decision has been taken yet, and the recommendations are still under review by the state government.

Along with the entrance exam cancellation, the panel suggested several other major reforms. These include cancellation of Class 10 Board Exams, conducting public board examinations only in Class 12, introducing English as the medium of instruction from nursery to university level, scrapping the Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed), and restructuring B.Ed into two streams- B.Ed (Primary) for Nursery to Class V and B.Ed (Secondary) for Classes 6 to 12.

The commission also recommended regulatory control over IIT-JEE and NEET coaching centres and hostels. These proposals indicate a broader restructuring of the Telangana education system, though implementation may take time.

As of now, TS EAMCET 2026 will be conducted as scheduled. The application window is currently open, and there is no official notification cancelling the exam for this academic year. Since the reforms require policy approval and administrative planning, they are unlikely to affect the 2026 admission cycle.

The Telangana government will examine the commission’s recommendations before making any official announcement. Even if approved, such major reforms are expected to be implemented in future sessions, not immediately.
