MCC has reopened Round 2 registration and choice filling for NEET SS 2025 Counselling. The window stays open until further Supreme Court orders. All candidates are now eligible for automatic upgradation in Round 2.

MCC Reopens NEET SS 2025 Round 2 Registration and Upgradation Window

The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has reopened NEET SS 2025 Round 2 registration. The choice filling window is also live on the official portal at mcc.nic.in. Candidates can now register, reset registration, or fill fresh choices for Round 2 seats.

A pending Supreme Court case on Tamil Nadu in-service seats triggered this reopening. The registration facility will stay open until further orders from the court. MCC has issued the notice on the Super Speciality Counselling section of its portal.

The National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Super Speciality (NEET SS) is the qualifying exam for DM and MCh seats. MCC conducts the All India Quota counselling for these seats every year. Round 2 is the second and often final regular allotment stage.

Who Is Eligible for Automatic Upgradation in Round 2?

MCC has made upgradation automatic in Round 2 for every registered candidate. This applies whether or not the doctor opted for upgradation during Round 1. All Round 1 allottees now sit in the upgradation pool by default.

Candidates who did not tick the willingness box earlier are still eligible. The change removes a common reason for missing an upgrade in past cycles. MCC has confirmed the policy in its July 6 notice.

What Happens If You Skip Round 2 Choice Filling?

Candidates who wish to keep their Round 1 seat should not fill Round 2 choices. MCC will retain the Round 1 seat if no fresh choices are submitted. Filling choices in Round 2 means accepting a possible upgrade.

Once a candidate is upgraded, the earlier Round 1 seat is released. There is no option to return to the previous allotment after an upgrade. Doctors should weigh their choices carefully before submitting the form.

Why Did MCC Reopen Round 2 Registration?

The reopening links to the case Tamilvani and Others vs State of Tamil Nadu. The petition is filed as W.P. No. 415 of 2026 before the Supreme Court. It deals with reverting Tamil Nadu in-service seats to the All India Quota pool.

MCC has kept the registration window open pending the court's directions. This allows all interested doctors a chance to register once seats are finalised. Fresh seats may enter the Round 2 matrix based on the final ruling.

How to Register for NEET SS 2025 Round 2 at mcc.nic.in?

Candidates should visit the official MCC portal at mcc.nic.in. They must click on the Super Speciality Counselling link on the homepage. New candidates should register with their NEET SS 2025 roll number and password.

Existing candidates can use the reset registration option to update details. The system will then unlock the choice filling module for Round 2. Candidates must lock their choices before the closing time to be considered for allotment.

Why This Matters

Round 2 upgradation is now automatic for every registered doctor. Candidates who missed the willingness step in Round 1 stay in the upgrade pool. This is a rare mid-cycle policy shift by MCC for the super speciality stream.

Action Plan for Candidates

  1. Visit mcc.nic.in and open the Super Speciality Counselling page.
  2. Complete registration or use reset registration for Round 2.
  3. Review the updated seat matrix with the nine newly added seats.
  4. Fill Round 2 choices only if you want an upgrade.
  5. Skip Round 2 choice filling to keep the Round 1 seat.
  6. Track the MCC portal for the next Supreme Court update.
Keep an Eye On

Watch the MCC portal for the Round 2 seat allotment result and revised reporting dates. Further updates will follow the Supreme Court order on Tamil Nadu in-service seats.
