MCC has opened the NEET SS 2025 Round 1 seat resignation window. Allotted candidates can resign without forfeiture of security deposit by August 4 2026. The process must be completed online through the MCC portal at mcc.nic.in.
The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) has opened the Round 1 seat resignation window for the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test Super Speciality (NEET SS) 2025 counselling. The notice was released on July 31 2026 through the official MCC portal at mcc.nic.in. Candidates allotted seats in Round 1 can now resign online without forfeiture of the security deposit.
The resignation window is short. It closes on August 4 2026. Candidates who wish to exit their allotted seat must finish the process before the cut-off. Missing the deadline will lock the current seat. Any further movement in Round 2 will then not be possible from that seat.
The resignation letter must be generated online through the MCC portal link. College authorities alone can initiate this step. Any physical or offline resignation letter issued by a college will not be valid. MCC has stated that all offline resignations will be treated as null and void.
Once a Round 1 seat is resigned, it returns to the vacancy pool. The freed seat is then offered in Round 2 of the NEET SS 2025 counselling.

How to Resign a NEET SS 2025 Round 1 Seat?
Candidates cannot file the resignation on their own login. The resignation is a college-driven process on the MCC portal. Follow the steps below to complete it before the deadline.
- Visit the medical college where the Round 1 seat has been allotted.
- Request the college authorities to initiate the resignation on the MCC portal.
- Ensure the online resignation letter is generated through the official portal link only.
- Collect all original documents submitted at the time of admission.
- Complete the entire process on or before August 4 2026.

Who Can Use This Resignation Window?
Only candidates allotted a Round 1 seat in NEET SS 2025 counselling can use this window. It is meant for those who wish to withdraw before Round 2 opens. Candidates who do not resign will remain attached to their current seat for the rest of the cycle.
The MCC has separately approved 18 Institute of National Importance Super Speciality (INI SS) allotted candidates to resign their All India seats after securing an INI SS admission. The list of these approved candidates has been published on the MCC portal.

Candidates going to their allotted college for the resignation should keep the following ready. This will help the college process the online request without delay.

- Photo identity proof issued by the government

MCC has waived the security deposit forfeiture for this Round 1 resignation. In many earlier super speciality cycles, resignation cost candidates their deposit. This relaxation gives Round 1 allottees a clean exit before Round 2 begins.
