IIT Kharagpur Law and Public Policy Admission 2026 Begins

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Kharagpur is inviting applications for admission to its specialised law and public policy programs for the academic year 2026. Candidates can apply online through the official website iitkgp.ac.in for the LLB, LLM, and Master’s in Public Policy, Law, and Governance programs by February 20, 2026.

For the LLB program, eligible candidates must have a First Class Bachelor's Degree in Engineering / Technology / Medicine or equivalent, a First Class Master's Degree in Science or Pharmacy or equivalent, or a First Class MBA Degree with any of the above qualifications.

For the LLM program, eligible candidates must have a First class (or equivalent) in the Bachelor of Laws LL.B./B.L. (5 years) program from any recognised University, a first Class (or equivalent) in Bachelor of Laws LL.B./B.L.(3 years) program from any recognised University along with Bachelor's Degree (not less than 3 years) in Humanities/ Science/ Commerce or equivalent. If the degree-awarding institute does not explicitly mention “First Class”, then the eligibility will be a minimum of 60% marks.

For the MPPLG program, eligible candidates must have a Bachelor's Degree in Science/Engineering /Law / Medicine/Commerce/Arts. (Not less than four years); 65% or 7 CGPA for General/OBC/EWS category and 60% for SC/ST/PwD in qualifying examination with first class in all preceding degrees/examinations.

The final selection for the LLM and LLB programs will be based on marks obtained in the Computer-based examination (CBT). For the MPPLG program, admission is based on CBT exam score, Group discussion, and personal interview.
