New Delhi: Indian Institute of Technology (IIT Kanpur) has announced that it will award a scholarship of INR 3 Lakh to the top 100 All India Rank Holders in JEE Advanced 2024. The scholarship will be awarded under the Bright Minds Scholarship program maintained by IIT Kanpur. 

IIT Kanpur has extended the Bright Minds Scholarship for consecutively 4 years now. According to the press release, these scholarships, supported by alumnus Lokvir Kapoor, were established in 2021 to guarantee that no deserving student encounters financial obstacles in their academic journey.

The IIT Kanpur official press release read, "IIT Kanpur proudly congratulates the outstanding achievers of the JEE Advanced 2024. We extend special recognition to Ved Lahoti for securing the All-India Rank 1, and to Dwija Dharmesh kumar Patel, the highest-ranked female candidate, for achieving an impressive 7th rank."

What is the Bright Minds Scholarship?

The "Bright Minds Scholarships" provide ten academic scholarships to students admitted to BTech, BS programmes at IIT Kanpur for the academic year 2024. Each eligible student will be granted an annual scholarship of Rs 3 lakh, supporting their expenses throughout their undergraduate program. These scholarships will be awarded for the entire four-year duration of the undergraduate program, contingent upon students maintaining a minimum Cumulative Performance Index (CPI) of 8.0.

The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2024 result were announced on June 9, 2024. Among the 21,634 candidates registered under the Kanpur Zone, managed by IIT Kanpur, 21,169 appeared for the exam, with 4,926 emerging as qualified candidates. 

Among the 21,634 registered candidates from the IIT Kanpur zone, a total of 17,700 were male candidates, with 17,333 appearing for the exam and 4,338 qualifying. In contrast, there were 3,934 female candidates registered, 3,843 of whom appeared for the exam, with 590 qualifying.

Manya Jain has emerged as the leading performer from the Kanpur Zone, securing an All India Rank (AIR) of 75, followed by Shubham Nair (AIR 131), Garv Chaudha (AIR 163), Shreshtha Gupta (AIR 191), and Siddharth Aggarwal (AIR 306). Notably, among female candidates, Shreshtha Gupta has secured an AIR of 191, making her the top-ranking female candidate in the zone.
