IIIT-NR and NTPC Establish Center of Excellence on Predictive Maintenance through MoU Signing

New Delhi: The International Institute of Information Technology-Naya Raipur (IIIT-NR) and NTPC have joined forces and signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate and engage in co-innovation efforts in the area of predictive maintenance and asset management solutions.

The IIIT-NR and NTPC's collaboration will establish a center of excellence called 'IIITNR-COE on Predictive Maintenance' that aims to foster an academic environment and develop research and development (R&D) based solutions for predictive maintenance systems, tools, and products.

Under this partnership, IIIT-NR will contribute its expertise and provide training in cutting-edge technologies such as Industry 4.0, Internet of Things, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning, 5G communication, and more, specifically in the context of predictive maintenance.

On the other hand, NTPC will offer essential field data, validation for research projects, and support research fellowships, internships, and consultancy services for development purposes.

The MoU includes various activities such as mutual visits by NTPC officers and IIIT faculties/students to discuss collaborative projects, joint brainstorming sessions, training, hackathons, and workshops.

Furthermore, this collaboration will foster technology development and explore plans to scale up prototypes and technologies related to Industry 4.0 and Predictive Maintenance.

The MoU signing ceremony witnessed the participation of Lt. Col. Rajesh Kumar Mishra, Registrar of IIIT-NR, and Manish Kumar Srivastava, Executive Director (Engineering) of NTPC. Ujjwal Kanti Bhattacharya, Director (Projects) of NTPC, and Chilakapati Sivakumar, Regional Executive Director (WR-II & USSC), were also present during the signing of the MoU.
