Delhi University raised fees for the correction of degree certificates and marksheets. The fees have been increased by INR 500 for correction in mark sheet within six years and by INR 1000 if correction is required after six years.
New Delhi: Delhi University (DU) has revised its fee structure for those applying for degree certificates and mark sheet corrections. The charges are now doubled per the committee's recommendation headed by DU Vice Chancellor Yogesh Singh.
Fee Increases Explained
Previously, the fee for correcting mark sheets within six years of graduation was INR 500, but it has now been raised to INR 1,000. The fee has increased from INR 1,000 to INR 2,000 if the correction is required more than six years after graduation.
Similarly, the fees have been raised for degree certificate corrections from INR 500 to INR 1,000 for corrections within six years and from INR 1,000 to INR 2,000 for corrections after six years.
The committee's recommendations were approved on June 4, 2024, and the authorities immediately implemented the revised fee structure.
Consistency in Other Services
Despite these changes, the fees for issuing duplicate mark sheets and degree certificates in cases of loss or destruction remain unchanged at INR 500 and INR 1,000, respectively. This adjustment is to smoothen the administrative processes and ensure accuracy in academic records.
DU registrar Vikas Gupta said, “The charges for such changes have not been revised in a very long time, which is why the university has taken the move.” A professor of the University stated that “Charges of Rs 1,000 to 2,000 being levied for corrections by a government university are very high. What is the fault of the students that they would have to bear these charges.”
