CBSE Class 10th students can improve their performance in one or two subjects through supplementary examination, while Class 12th students can improve their scores in one subject. The supplementary exams will be held from July 15, 2024.

New Delhi: CBSE will conduct the CBSE Class 10th and 12th Supplementary Exams 2024 from July 15, 2024 for students who have not cleared the exam. This year, over 1.32 lakh students from class 10th and 1.22 lakh students from class 12th have been placed in a supplementary category. The timetable for supplementary exams will be announced soon.

CBSE has announced the CBSE Class 10th and 12th Results 2024 on May 13, 2024. Students can check their CBSE Class 10th and 12th result status on the official website of the examination board at cbseresults.nic.in, cbse.gov.in or through Digilocker, and UMANG applications. Those who are not satisfied with their results can apply for re-verification, photocopy of answer books, and revaluation of answer sheets. 

Who is Eligible to Appear for CBSE Supplementary Exams 2024?

Check the criteria to appear for CBSE Supplementary Exams 2024 below:

  • Class 10th students who failed in one or two subjects can appear for the exams.
  • Class 12th students who were unable to pass in one subject can appear for the exams.
  • Those who wish to improve their marks in one or two subjects can appear for the exams. 
  • Students who were declared passed by replacing the 6th or 7th subject can appear for the failed subjects.

This year, CBSE has revised its nomenclature for the compartment exam and changed it to supplementary exam to avoid the stress or anxiety of failing board exams students. CBSE Class 10th students will have the option to improve their performance in one or two subjects through supplementary examination, while Class 12th students can improve their scores in one subject. 

CBSE Controller, Sanyam Bhardwaj said, "Three categories of students will be eligible to appear in the supplementary examinations -- class 10 students who were unable to pass two subjects and class 12 students who were unable to pass one subject and were placed in compartment category; students who were declared pass by replacing sixth or seventh subject; and class 10 and 12 students who were declared pass but wish to improve their performance in two and one subjects respectively”.
