I am the Principal of Sevasadan Art, Commerce, and Science College and try to create an environment where academics, staff, and students are encouraged to work together creatively and continuously improve. I place a high value on open and honest communication, actively hearing the opinions and concerns of faculty, staff, and students. Within the college community, I believe in fostering strong bonds and trust, valuing other viewpoints, and encouraging teamwork.
How does the curriculum of your college ensure the best practice of industry?
In the commerce, science, and art faculties, there are no urgent requirements for jobs in society. We, however, always try to give students the knowledge so that they can make themselves suitable for that industry when needed. We have add-on courses that are set up in collaboration with the industry. The first step towards that is signing a memorandum of understanding with the industry. With the help of the additional skills learned from the faculty members and additional courses, it will be easy for the student to get a job in the industry. Additionally, we have a setup with the Government of Maharashtra in the form of “Career Katta,” where there are over 50+ courses that are free of cost.
Any insights into how your college could be more welcoming to students of different races or economic backgrounds?
The arts, commerce, and science courses have lower fees. Our goal is to make them affordable for students from economically weaker backgrounds. There is no issue with fees, but we also provide scholarships to students on the basis of merit and need. Apart from this, we have free courses that are perfect for upgrading the students’ skills and knowledge; this is also a welcome initiative.

Our long-term vision is regarding NACC. We wish to work towards fulfilling all of NACC’s requirements. If we do so, we will be able to apply to function as an autonomous institute. We will still be able to offer newer and better courses to our students and design our courses as well.
What would you like people to know about your college they may not know?
The thing that I would always like to share with people is that Sevasadan Art, Commerce, and Science College is an old college. We have been operating since 1927, when there was not much awareness of education and women's empowerment was also lacking. From there until now, we have been able to stand tall and now have a large female student population. We want to educate more and more students who can contribute towards the betterment of society.

I advise students to work hard and to follow their passion. I and all the teachers are always with you on your journey of excellence. Make sure to think a lot before taking a decision, and don’t overthink it after taking the decision. Just go with the flow, and your hard work will pay you back.
