One of the most vital transitions in life is from high school to college. After undergoing numerous competitive examinations, an individual enters into a new phase in education, career, and life. During this phase, one carries feelings of being anxious and happy at the same time. This blog will be sharing how to deal with the obstacles faced by a student and how to overcome them. Moreover, how to prepare for college life. I am hereby sharing three vital learnings from my experience.

  • Score Vs Passion: I enrolled myself in JEE competitive exam after my schooling and was given an opportunity to study at IIT Delhi. I was forced to opt for Mechanical Engineering based on my rank rather than my personal interest. Why? Because we are not told about what happens in engineering but we just prepare for it. So, I would like to advise the learners to choose courses based on their personal interest rather than their ranking position. I haven't come across any career in which everyone succeeds and none in which nobody succeeds. One should feel comfortable and happy in whatever they do.
  • Peer Group for Purpose: A righteous peer group plays a vital role in determining the quality of college life and future endeavors. The college comprises students from all over the world and it is a good thing to socialize but one should choose his/her peer groups keeping that in mind that it will influence their growth in their careers ahead. Peers hold the power to influence decision-making, lifestyle, learning habits, addiction, internships, extracurricular activities, and many more. One must choose people based on one’s own purpose in life.
  • Mentorship: We get experience after interacting with seniors and elders from different spheres of life in college. At Rishihood, we continuously organize guest interactions with senior people from different fields like entrepreneurship, technology, social work, politics, government, performing arts, etc so that you get wide exposure. In addition, close mentoring is provided to the learners. Our campus being residential, provides ample time and a user-friendly environment.

Lastly, I want to advise individuals to choose a residential campus so that they get maximum mentorship. I grasped a lot of life experience both personal and professional outside my classroom during my days at IIT Delhi.

Therefore, if you have just cleared CUET and are confused about your future, you can use the three tips of choosing your passion, creating the right peer group, and finding a good atmosphere for mentorship.

Best of luck
