Prof. Shantha K. M. is a highly organized and hard-working individual with 19 years of experience teaching in the computer department.
Prof. Shantha has participated in various seminars and workshops to enhance her expertise. She has attended a UGC-sponsored two-day national seminar on "Karnataka as a Global Tourist Destination: Challenges and Opportunities" and a workshop on research methodology. Additionally, she has participated in a state-level seminar on "corporate governance." Prof. Shantha has also presented and published research papers on topics such as the awareness of governance and attitudes towards sustainable development in and around Bangalore City, and the impact of soft skills training programs on undergraduate students.
Prof. Shantha's educational qualifications include a S.S.L.C. from St. Joshes English Medium School in Bellary, a P.U.C. from Wardlaw Up College in Bellary, and a B.Sc. degree in PCM from Sarala Devi Women's College, Gulbarga University. They have also completed a Master of Computer Applications from Gulbarga University.
Prof. Shantha has handled numerous subjects, including operating systems, discrete structures, database management systems, financial accounting, software engineering, analysis and design of algorithms, data structures, computer architecture, Unix and operating systems, and object-oriented programming.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty?
One approach is to spend one-on-one time with students and set them up for success. A positive student-teacher relationship correlates with a child's ability to learn and improves their behavior.
How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry oriented?
This can be achieved through various means such as conducting seminars and workshops on trending technologies and organizing industrial visits for students to gain hands-on experience.
What are the best practices offered by the department to the students which help them gain necessary skills?
The curriculum is designed to include various value-added courses, conferences, guest lecturers, and association activities to enhance the skills of the students.
How do you strategic the curriculum and how often it gets updated to make it befitting for the students?
The curriculum is strategized with theory and embedded theory courses and employability embedded courses. The value-added courses are incorporated into the curriculum to improve industry-oriented knowledge.
What are your views on the placements and higher education of the students from your department or how does your department prepare students for Higher education?
Based upon their interests, the students are trained by providing placement training, internships, etc.

How do you help your student to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?
Giving training with technical and non-technical aptitudes, arranging guest lectures, and skill development courses in recent trends Encouraging them in projects works.
Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real world challenges?
Various activities that enhance the skills of students are conducted, like NCC and NSS, within the campus. Along with this, students are encouraged to participate in intercollege hackathons, coding, etc. held in neighboring colleges.
What are the challenges you faced/ are facing to uplift the quality of education of your department?
The main challenge faced in uplifting the quality of education is that most of the students are from rural backgrounds, so improving their communication skills becomes difficult since they haven’t had the relevant exposure. As the industry is constantly changing, we need to teach our students the right skills and education.
When you came to college, what was your vision and how are you trying to achieve the same?
Teacher’s Perspective:The department's vision was to provide quality education without any discrimination among the students. We aspire to be a dynamic, enterprising department. We work in a team with external organizations through our research, internships, and project work, and our students are partners in the community of learning.
