Dr. Pallavi Pandey is the Principal and HOD of the Education department at the Millennium College of Education. She holds a B.Sc. and an M.Sc. degree in Botany from Jiwaji University, post which she also earned a PhD. Before starting her career in academia, she completed her B.Ed. and M.Ed. degrees. Dr. Pandey has 12 years of work experience and research experience in education. A lifetime member of the All India Research Education, she has also written numerous books. Dr. Pallavi was one of 150 women who won a medal from Wonder Academy for their contribution to their fields.

Being a Faculty of the Department, what are your roles and responsibilities towards the students?

My roles and responsibilities in my role are multi-faceted and numerous. However, my primary role is to take care of the students and the faculty members. My efforts are geared towards creating a peaceful environment for the students to help them learn and grow in their careers.

How do you tend to establish healthy relations with the students and fellow faculty? 

To take care of others, I have to evaluate myself first. Only when I am aware of and know myself, will I be able to have a successful and healthy relationship with others. By engaging and involving ourselves properly, we can know what our students and faculty members need and how best to answer it.

How do you try to bring in a practical approach towards subjects and make it industry-oriented?

We bring a practical approach to the classroom by training and educating our faculties as per the new industry standards. Only when they have updated knowledge will they be able to educate the students in a manner that keeps them in better standing in the industry. Additionally, we involve them in various practicals and industrial visits through which they can get to know more about their subjects in detail.

Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real world challenges? 

We conduct various extracurricular activities throughout the academic year in order to engage our students. These activities also make our students excel in various fields through sports and cultural events where they handle managerial positions. We also have seminars and tours which enhance the students’ capability, confidence, and skills.

What are the best practices offered by department to the students in order to cope up with the competition being so high in the outside world?

We educate and train our students with innovative ways of teaching so that they can grasp the curriculum and topics easily while being engaged. This also allows them to express their understanding during their exams in a detailed manner. We make use of teaching aids like video demonstrations, case studies and practical sessions towards this end.

What valuable advice would you like to the students for them to have a prosperous career ahead?

For my students, I would advise them to work hard and learn what is needed from them by the industry. It is important to educate themselves with the right knowledge and skills in order to gain the most opportunities in their field. Setting goals, and developing a mindset of continuous learning and upskilling will help them stay competitive.
