Dr. Deepa Bakshi is a Professor and the Director of Bhabha Engineering Research Institute – MCA. She holds an MCA from Barkatullah University, an MBA from Guru Ghasidas University and an M.Tech from Barkatullah University. Thereafter, she also completed a PhD in Management from Barkatullah University as well. With over 30 years of work experience, Dr. Bakshi has also qualified for the GPAT examination. She has ten book publications, has been awarded 12 awards and has four patents to her name.
What inspired you to pursue a career in this field and what drew you to your current role as Director?
Teaching is my passion, I love engaging with the students by guiding and educating them every day. I am passionate about building relationships with my students and helping them develop the knowledge and skills that they would need to work in the industry. I feel that if I take something from society, I need to give back to society as well. So what could be better to achieve this than teaching?
What do you see as the biggest challenges higher education is facing today & how do you think your Institution is addressing those challenges?
There are significant challenges in present-day academia. Importantly, there is a gap between what is being taught in institutions and what is required in industry. Our college recognises this and is committed to preparing students for success in the workplace by following the syllabus and providing training programmes to bridge the gap.
What do you see as the biggest challenges higher education is facing today, and how do you think your institution is addressing those challenges?
Our college is committed to providing the best possible quality education and helping our students prepare for the workforce. Towards this end, we offer training programs to help them develop the necessary skills and knowledge they need to meet the demands of the industry. Through our efforts, we can achieve good placement outcomes.

What are your primary responsibilities as the Director & how do you balance them with the other aspects of your job?
I am a teacher but my interests and passion extend beyond the classroom. I am also passionate about social causes, particularly the health issues of village women. In addition to my duties, I volunteer my time to work with organisations that are dedicated to improving the health and well-being of village women. Overall, I enjoy teaching and making the lives of my students and less fortunate people better.
Any suggestions you would like to give to the current youth and the aspiring students?
I believe that hard work and dedication are the keys to success. There are no shortcuts to success to achieving your goals. Set your goals and dedicate your time in college to achieving them. Learn what is required by the industry and upskill yourself accordingly to remain competitive.
Do you have any extracurricular activities/ programs to enhance the skills of the students or expose them to real world challenges?
We conduct numerous extracurricular activities such as sports, cultural activities, seminars and webinars in order to make our students versatile in various aspects. This in turn will make it easy for them to solve various versatile challenges that they may face in the long run. These activities also enhance the interpersonal and leadership skills of the students which helps them grow in their careers.
