TU Delft and several other Dutch universities are expected to raise tuition fees for non-EU/EEA students for the 2027-2028 academic year, continuing a multi-year trend of fee inflation across the Netherlands. For Indian students, who already pay institutional fees significantly higher than EU students, this change further increases the overall cost of studying engineering and technology programs in Europe.

For 2026, TU Delft’s institutional tuition fees stand at 25,633 EUR (28.18 lakhs INR) per year for MSc programs and 19,906 EUR (21.88 lakhs INR) per year for BSc programs. In 2025, annual tuition fees for MSc programs were 22,290 EUR (24.50 lakhs INR), while BSc programs were 17,310 EUR (19.03 lakhs INR).

  • MSc fees increased by: 3,343 EUR (around 15%)
  • BSc fees increased by: 2,596 EUR (around 15%)

Early indicators suggest that fees for 2027 could rise by up to 10-15%, depending on faculty and inflation adjustments set by the Dutch government and individual universities.

Why are Fees Increasing?

Dutch universities cite rising operational costs, inflation, staff salaries, and reduced government funding per student as key reasons for increasing non-EU tuition. Engineering and lab-intensive programs such as Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering, and Robotics are among the most expensive to run. At the same time, TU Delft is popular for these fields, and the application numbers are significantly increasing on a year-on-year basis.

Impact on Indian Students

For Indian families, even a modest percentage increase can add 2-3 lakhs INR or more per year to total costs. When combined with high living expenses and limited scholarships, the total yearly budget for TU Delft could easily cross 40-45 lakhs INR for many MSc students. The currency exchange rate also plays an important role in these scenarios. In the last 30 days, the value of 1 EUR has increased by 5 INR.

Now, what can Indian students do? They can budget with a buffer for possible fee hikes to be on the safer side. Also, they can apply early to lock in current fee structures where possible.
