The Master of Science in Social and Economic Data Science (SEDS) is a 2-year research program that is taught entirely in English at the University of Konstanz. As one of Germany's top "Universities of Excellence" Konstanz has a unique curriculum that blends data science techniques with social and economic theories. The program gives students the skills to analyze complex datasets to tackle important questions in society and the economy. Graduates are ready for careers in academic research and in high-level roles at international organizations, government agencies, and private companies. They can work as data scientists, policy analysts, or market researchers. With only 36 spots available each year, the program is very selective and has an acceptance rate of about 25%.

Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in economics, mathematics or statistics, political science, computer science, sociology, or psychology. They need a minimum grade of “good,” which is 2.5 or better on the German scale, or about 75% or GPA 3.0 on a 4.0 scale. They should have knowledge in at least two of the following areas, gained from at least three courses during their bachelor’s degree: Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, or Social-Scientific Methods. Applicants in their final year can apply with a current transcript. |
