The subject "History" in the two-subject bachelor's program at the University of Duisburg-Essen can be combined with all other subjects in the two-subject bachelor's programs of the Faculty of Humanities, as well as with humanities subjects in the two-subject bachelor's programs of the University Alliance Ruhr.
With the study of the subject of history and another humanities subject, basic training is to be taught that imparts knowledge and skills for creative, mediating, and scientific professional fields.
Graduates of the course should be able to develop the historical dimension of the present through scientific reconstruction and interpretation of the past.
In particular, the course imparts knowledge and skills that enable you to work in the following areas: science, museums, archives, public relations in various industries, corporate communication, print and electronic media, youth and educational work, personnel development, training, and further education.

There are no tuition fees at the University of Duisburg-Essen. All students are, however, subject to a student body and social contribution fee per semester.
The social and student body contribution for the summer and winter semesters 2021 amounts to a total of $774.86.
The amount is made up as follows:
- Mobility contribution (ticket): $506.82, of which $367.88 for the VRR semester ticket and $138.94 for the NRW ticket
- Social contribution for the Studierendenwerk: $229.96
- Student body fee: $38.08.
The social and student body contribution is not to be paid before enrollment! Students will be informed about the payment modalities upon registration.
