- The course imparts knowledge of the language, literature and culture of Great Britain, the USA and other English-speaking countries. Both historical, theoretical and systematic aspects are considered. The didactics of English deal with questions of mediation.
- Characteristics of English and American Studies in Osnabrück is the close integration of the subjects of linguistics, literary studies and cultural studies. Research and teaching focus on the language, literature and culture of the English Renaissance (with a focus on Shakespeare), construction grammar, "Late Modern English", English-language children's and youth literature, American literature and culture (including visual media), British contemporary culture and the English vocabulary and its teaching.
